The Ambulance is fun. Easy purchase for me.

I remember Rockula being awful, but to be fair I only saw it on a really crummy fullscreen transfer on NetFlix (back when NetFlix used to have the entire MGM catalog and I was working my way through every '80s horror title in it).

Yeah The Ambulance is the clear winner here, one of Cohen's best!

Cyborg
Gate II
The Ambulance

Only excited about these three so far. Hell Night is huge but it's still technically a 2017 release.

Those 4 are definite purchases for me, throw in Behind the Mask as well. And The Strangers will be a purchase if on sale title, I haven't seen it since it was in theaters and I'm willing to give it another chance but just don't want to spend $20 on it.

Official word for Luca Bercovici's ROCKULA (1990), coming in March from Scream Factory.

Quote:
**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT**

He's a 400-year-old virgin who wants to rock and roll all night! The 1990 horror-comedy ROCKULA sinks its fangs onto Blu-ray for the first time next Spring and features an all-new HD transfer!

Ralph (Dean Cameron, Summer School) is just your typical, average vampire with love in his heart, music in his veins — and a curse on his head. Every 22 years, poor Ralph is doomed to lose his soulmate, Mona, at the hands of a rhinestone-peg-legged pirate brandishing a large hambone (just go with us on this). But this time around, with the help of his newly-formed band Rockula, Ralph is determined to crush the curse once and for all — and show Mona that when you're a vampire, true love is eternal … and rock 'n' roll never dies!

Directed by Luca Bercovici (Ghoulies) and featuring an eclectic cast of co-stars, including cult favorite Susan Tyrrell (Forbidden Zone) and recording stars Thomas Dolby, Toni Basil, and Bo Diddley, Rockula is an absolutely batty, bloody bizarre comedy!

Extras are in progress and national street date is March 20th. However, you can pre-order now directly through us @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/product...roduct_id=6629 to have the item ship two weeks early!

And... the official word on Amando de Ossorio's MALENKA (aka FANGS OF THE LIVING DEAD, 1969), coming to Blu this March from Scream Factory!

Quote:
**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT**

After our reveal of Rockula earlier today we have ever more vampire action to present. The Italian-produced FANGS OF THE LIVING DEAD is planned for release on Blu-ray next Spring!

Beautiful fashion model Sylvia Morel (Anita Ekberg) receives news that she has inherited a castle from her uncle. Her curiosity leads her to journey to a remote village to see her new house. Once there, she learns of her family's history and soon falls under the spell of her uncle. He wants her to become the new matriarch of the family … a clan of vampires! This chilling tale of bloodsuckers was directed by Spanish horror director Amando de Ossorio (The Lorely's Grasp, Night of the Sorcerers, the Blind Dead series).

National street date is March 6th. However, you can pre-order now directly through us @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/product...roduct_id=6625 to have the item ship two weeks early!

Some of those steels look really nice but I don't really get the point. How about new 4K scans of the films instead?

I wouldn't necessarily bank on it, as all of their Naschy/Spanish releases over the past year have been from the Victory catalogue, who don't own the rest of the Blind Dead films. To my knowledge, they have at least these Spanish horrors left to be announced:

The Dracula Saga
Demon Witch Child

Night of the Walking Dead (AKA Strange Loves of the Vampire)

Who knows if they bothered acquiring these as part of the package? I guess we'll find out soon enough. Code Red released Demon Witch Child on DVD, but do we know if they still have the rights?

A 'cool' steelbook with the same recycled transfer likely will/would sell better than a new scan with regular packaging (which in most cases would just be from the IP as opposed to the OCN anyway) to their target audience, and will cost SF a lot less.

I have no interest in these steelbooks but since they're obviously not taking up the place of regular releases I have no issue with them. We're getting these two on top of six 'new' releases in March.

If repackaging nets them some additional capital to seek out films that they wouldn't have been able to acquire otherwise (and/or a few more OCN remasters), I'm all for it.
