I want all of those! I hope that Who Can Kill A Child and The Changeling are indeed coming!

There is a film-only blu-ray release of The Girl Next Door, but I own the DVD because it has numerous features on it.
I agree with the doubling of movies as I loved Race With The Devil and Happy Birthday to Me and cant help but feel doubling is mostly half assed like killing 2 birds with one stone.

Yes, the individual movie (I believe) should get the attention with features. That's a true collector's blu-ray, which as the years pass, blu-rays seem to be more focused on collectors.

I've read several Jack Ketchum books, namely The Girl Next Door, Red, The Lost, Off Season, Right to Life, Joyride, and Peaceable Kingdom (short story collection).

That author really knows what he's doing. These books all pack a punch.

The film adaptation of The Lost isn't half bad, but it also lacks the punch of the novel.

There's a film adaptation of Red somewhere out there, but I haven't seen it yet.

Red, I completely forgot about that one. I remember it being alright

Not sure I'd ever want to watch The Girl Next Door Again

Red is one of the movies in the list I just posted in this thread. Love it. My favorite of films based on his books.

That double blu for Race with the Devil is it I'm betting, unless an overseas one comes out. It has extras on it Commentaries, interviews trailers, tv spots etc. and cheap also, $12 on amazon. Well worth it if you ask me for the package.

[Rec] has/had region A friendly Blu Rays available in Canada. In fact you can get the first 3 films in the series in Region A friendly releases. Only the 4th and final entry is currently locked to Region B. With that said only the first two are really worth owning.

As for The Girl Next door, that is the one film that I haven't been able to bring myself to watch a second time. I've watched A Serbian Film, I Spit on Your Grave, Last House on the Left, Martyrs, Inside and all sorts of exploitation efforts several times over without much problem, but the inital gut punch that came from The Girl Next Door has been enough to keep me from a 2nd viewing. I've owned the Blu Ray for years but haven't brought myself to watch it in fact. It's not the best film, but man does it pack an emotional wallop.

Here's what I purchased many years ago...

I believe it went out of print several years back but I've continued to see copies online every now and then. At the moment this is the only place I can find selling it....

https://www.amazon.ca/REC-and-REC2-B...=B0050N0V74&m=

Unfortunately it appears that they only ship to Canada. This is a great price though if you can find a way to import it. I've seen this collection sell for well above $50 in the past.

It doesn't ship to the United States. I wish I could get it. Thanks for pointing that out though.

There's a Region free Canadian release out there. It's appears to possibly be out of print? I got a cheap used copy from forum member a while back. Digging through BD.com I see there's also Brazilian, Italian, Japanese, Mexican, Spanish, Swedish releases that are Region A capable if you don't mind importing.

Edit: Looks TripleHBK beat me to the punch on mentioning the Canadian release... My fault for taking my time/multitasking lol

I'm also on board for Altered (2006)... I love that redneck Sci-Fi/Horror flick! Pretty please Scream Factory? I'm sure Universal would license it cheaply.

Yes, I don't see the Canadian version anywhere. But I have found the Japanese version that is Region Free and has all the special features found on the Canadian disc. I assume it's the same transfer as well. May bite on it.

The Japanese version doesn't include English Subtitles as far as I'm aware. So unless you can read Japanese subs, or speak fluent Spanish, I'd avoid that release.

Well, crap. I didn't catch that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'm crap out of luck unless I can somehow catch/find that Canadian set at some point.

Good point. I didn't even think of that when mentioning all those releases from different countries, it slipped my mind for some reason.

Four fraternity pledges endure hazing in the form of being tasked to spend an entire night at the eerie Garth Manor, which has been vacant since the former owner killed his wife and children before hanging himself 12 years ago. These four friends laugh off the legends about surviving family members still lurking the house, and, after being locked inside the gates, they settle down for a night of fun-spirited partying. Marti, played by Linda Blair (The Exorcist), is having second thoughts about Greek life. Jeff, played by Peter Barton (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter), is only pledging because of his father's wishes. Seth, played by Vincent Van Patten (Rock 'n' Roll High School), is a laid-back surfer who is up for a lively night with the gorgeous Denise, played by Suki Goodwin. The fraternity president and his cohorts have other plans for these pledges, and they sneak onto the premises to play some scary tricks. All of these people are in for an unexpectedly terrifying evening, however, when the mansion turns out to be not so empty after all.

The movie poster for Hell Night, with its tagline, “Pray for day.”, captured my imagination when I saw it in the newspaper during my childhood. A few years later, I watched a television airing of the film, and fell in love with its simple, yet intensely effective plot. When I revisited it tonight for the first time in three decades, I was pleased to discover that the story has lost none of its darkly fun allure. The mansion setting really makes the film, especially because of the hidden catacombs, the outdoor hedges around a fountain, and the spiked metal gates. I also love the fact that the characters are all dressed in pre-20th century outfits, because of the pre-hazing parties. The violence in the movie is thankfully quite tame compared to its contemporaries during the golden age of slashers in the early 1980s, but it rides high on a tide of solid cinematography and atmosphere.

Hell Night stands tall in horror circles these days, because it makes an insightful statement about the resilience of the individual in the face of conformity. Linda Blair's Marti is not only beautiful, but resourceful as well, and she is able to use her intellect (and her car mechanic know-how) to battle the odds, ensuring that she does not need the validation of a group to bolster her self worth. Many of my favorite moments of the movie are the quieter dialogue scenes with the four characters, all of whom have their own unique personalities that defy easy categorization.

For this new Blur-ay of Hell Night, Scream Factory has done impressive work with a less than perfect source, taking the best surviving 35mm print and using occasional standard definition footage to fill in the gaps. Aside from a couple of noticeable frame jumps, the transition comes across almost seamlessly, probably because the nighttime darkness keeps some of the lack of detail from standing out when the less-than-stellar footage is utilized. It's an honor to have a presentable high definition presentation of this movie in the first place, since the possibility of such a thing has been in doubt for years.

The supplementary interviews are plentiful, and this is one of Scream Factory's most souped-up Blu-rays in that regard. I'm still going through them, and I have not even started with the commentary track. I love it when Blu-rays are like amusement parks, and it's not possible to go through all of the goodies at once.

My favorite supplement is the one with Vincent Van Patten and Suki Goodwin having a conversation in present-day, because Goodwin is still amazingly attractive even after all of these years.
