I hope Blue Underground gives Maniac a fresh 4K remaster from the original materials.

The 40th anniversary is just a few years away, so that would be a good time for William Lustig to finally give us a definitive release of his classic slice of early 80s nastiness.

Yes but a US release would be great.

Are we sure MGM still has it? Kind of weird neither SF or Arrow haven't released it yet. You would think it would have happened by now.

I'd be all over that so damn quick! One of my favorites.

Hadn't seen Full Moon High since i was a kid and Larry Cohen is quite a good writer/director no doubt.

And who thinks Superbeast (1972) could had been one of the inspirations to that Batman the animated Series episode? i think the writers remembered seeing that movie somewhere and used it as one of the ideas

I'm still keeping the faith that Scream will do a 4k restoration of Tremors.

Own the blu, but would be down for new 4k collectors edition. This seems like a possibility.

I keep trying to think of movies that I wouldn't mind seeing Shout! (or Arrow, Synapse, etc.) release. I know Warner, Paramount and Sony are a no go (for Shout!) I'm not too privy on how all of the behind the scenes licensing goes and whatnot.

Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II
Splatter University
The Boogeyman
Return to Horror High
Cheerleader Camp
Bloodsucking Pharaohs in Pittsburgh
Mountaintop Motel Massacre
The Toolbox Murders (1978)
Mirror Mirror
Home Sweet Home
Bloody New Year
Home for the Holidays
Strays
Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes
The Amityville Curse
Amityville 1992: It's About Time
Amityville: A New Generation
Amityville Dollhouse
Jack Frost 2: Revenge of the Mutant Killer Snowman
The Clown at Midnight
Campfire Tales
Night of the Demons 3
Witchboard III: The Possession
Trilogy of Terror II
Stepfather II
Stepfather III
Sorority House Massacre II

Pinocchio's Revenge (Lionsgate?)
Dolly Dearest (Lionsgate?)
Sometimes They Come Back... Again (Lionsgate?)
Sometimes They Come Back... For More (Lionsgate?)
Sisters (Criterion?)
Pin... (Image?)

Blue Underground already put out a perfectly serviceable blu-ray years ago.

There's also a Region B locked 88 Films blu-ray, but only get it if you're Region Free and a completist. If more than anything, Tobe Hooper's remake is in much more need of a blu-ray than a double dip of the original.

I think this was natively shot in SD video, so a better DVD copy is the only feasible release for this.

I am region free, thankfully. I know 88 Films has released six of those I listed
Sisters with Arrow too. I've ordered a bunch of movies from Arrow that they ended up releasing in the US as well. The Hellraiser Scarlet Box was the set that made me go region free. I've been on the fence about ordering, 'cause it seems like every time I order a movie from another region, it ends up getting released here. Lol. Not that that is a big deal or whatever. I'm not sure how I overlooked the Blue Underground release!

I would love to see the Amityville sequels get released. Are they with MGM?

American Gothic includes an interview with the composer, and I pre-ordered my copy from DD for $16.49. And how do you know that their 70's titles 'are not good sellers'?

Part of the issue may simply be the fact that most of the mass recognition “gotta have it now” movies have already been given good Blu-ray releases by now, so labels are delving into the wellspring of more obscure best-kept-secret films.

I love the horror genre through and through, and I love discovering previously unheard-of movies from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s that are released by Scream, Arrow, Code Red, and such, but, in all honesty, and let's face it...most of the essential horror classics that I absolutely cannot live without in my collection have already been released. I've already got the Friday the 13th films, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Shining, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Salem's Lot, Suspiria, Jaws, Psycho, Alien, Night of the Living Dead, Poltergeist, The Fog, The Return of the Living Dead, Halloween, the classic Universal Monsters movies, the Vincent Price movies, the more notable Roger Corman movies, and all of that.

For the most part, though, most of us have got a darn solid horror collection on Blu-ray when it comes to the stuff that we grew up discovering in the 1970s and 1980s.

Most of what's coming out right now from Scream and Arrow is icing on the cake.
...and, a lot of the time, that icing is still delicious.

I do a fair bit of moaning on these boards but I agree 100% with your sentiments suggesting we've never had it so good when it comes to movies on home media today. Every time I glance over at my Blu-ray wall I marvel at the amount of great titles I've picked up over the years - from A-List stuff to the very obscure and long-forgotten, many in top form. My personal wishlist, which contains mostly obscure stuff like One Dark Night and The Being, is close to 100% complete so, yes, anything that comes now will be icing on the cake.

The only Amityville films that MGM has are the first three films and the 2005 remake, all of which have been released on Blu-Ray.

I would love for SF to get their hands on these slashers:

Island of Blood (aka Whodunit)
Silent Madness

Not to knock Bill, cause I think he's great, but he has been wrong before. He also thought Clownhouse was still with MGM, and supposedly they don't have it anymore.

...hmmmm. That would be quite something if Code Red attempted to put Clownhouse out on blu-ray.

Would be ballsy as hell if he attempted such an herculean task for a movie that really has no need to be re-released and most likely would be stopped dead in its tracks for its really screwed up BTS horrors.

Movie's not all that great anyway. Basically an R-Rated episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark, except some episodes of AYAOTD are scarier than Clownhouse.

I disagree, I love Clownhouse. It deserves to get a release, heck all films do. I very much doubt a release would get stopped at its tracks. The general public wouldn't even know it would be getting released.
