Just purchased my first (of hopefully many) Scream Factory titles.

Was pleasantly surprised to even find it on bluray - didn't think it was known enough let alone to get a collector's edition from anyone. Fond memories of watching it and eating pizza with my uncle a couple decades ago.

Cannot wait for it to arrive. IDC what time of day it is or what I'm in the middle of doing the second it gets here it's going straight into the PS4.

The Vagrant I haven't seen yet but Jack's Back I really didn't like at all.

Also, your mention of Ripper reminded me of another Showtime staple from around the time I discovered The Hole, called Ripper 2: Letters from Within. Thought perhaps I should try to forget that one. lol

I'm also a big fan of The Hole. Luckily I was at least able to get the Echo Bridge double feature that came with Venom (still haven't watched that one). Not a great blu at all, but happy to at least have the movie. I think that disc might be OOP now too.

I rented it a bunch of times from my local video rental place (Videoflicks) when I was in high school. Has always been a favourite of mine and Scream's blu-ray looks and sounds amazing.

Since FRIGHT NIGHT II is now streaming in HD on Amazon Prime, it got me hoping that Scream Factory or another label might be getting their hands on it soon!

I'm re-posting this from the wishlist thread for the sake of discussion:

The studio listed on the Amazon Prime video is "Vista Corporation," which was producer Herb Jaffe's company.

So it looks like the US rights are with his estate or whomever purchased that company after his death?

Wasn't "Dudes" owned by the same company which Shout released fairly recently?

Pretty sure Fright Night 2 is their most requested title. I like the first one but haven’t seen the second one. I’ll have to check it out! Needless to say I think Scream releasing this now is petty likely.

Given it's history of being virtually inaccessible for almost 2 decades, it's really a holy grail title for the horror community. I had to track down a bootleg a few years ago because I figured it's a title that would never see the light of day. Fingers crossed.

My bootleg copy of Fright Night II is more than watchable - it's downright satisfying. Not sure where they dug up that transfer but it really is good. Given Scream Factory's history with independent (or independently-acquired) films, I'd take a wait-and-see approach with any official Blu-ray release. If this'll be another situation where the original elements are lost and they can only work with a print then that's a problem. I'd like to avoid another Hell Night disappointment.

The Bootleg is based on a "TV Version" (think HBO or Showtime tv, not edited cable tv) of the film that came from Paramount that was being hosted on one streaming/digital service or another several years ago. It's a modern transfer meaning that in the event the film does see a domestic release it will look as good if not better than what you've already seen. With all of that said, I'm not holding my breath. If you'll notice the Amazon stream also happens to have the Paramount closing logo meaning that they are still likely the ones with US release rights for both tv and home video. If this is the case then we're stuck waiting for them to decide to press up some blu rays. Either way, while it's great that fans have a legitimate way to watch the film now, I really don't feel like we're any closer to seeing this released, and I certainly don't expect that Scream Factory has it.

As far as I can tell, Paramount only ever had access to TV rights to the film, not to home video rights.

Vista Organization apparently merged with Carolco in 1992, though it's unclear to me if that merger was ever fully completed. Spelling Entertainment acquired all of Carolco's "]TV rights later on in 1992. A series of acquisitions and mergers from 1994 - 1999 led to Spelling Entertainment's holdings belonging to Viacom and assigned to Paramount.

I'd be down for Fright Night part 2. I'd also like Sony to step up and release the original themselves because I never got the Twilight Time one
