It's not an action packed, bloody film. It's slower, moody, atmospheric, and has some attractive ladies. It's a Spanish horror film very early in the cycle, and has much to offer, but is likely to disappoint those looking for more graphic horror.

Blu looks gorgeous and there is some wonderful lighting and cinematography.
Have not listened to the commentary.

Agreed. Once you get over budgetary issues, it's a lot of fun and captures the spirit of the comics better than any of the films that followed. It also helps that the cast took it seriously and gave it their all.

I think this WB deal should be for movies that WB won't pay attention to even via Archive Collection or for filmmakers to make more complete editions of their movies or to get better quality (Creepshow, Thir13en Ghosts (2001), and Gremlins definitely need remasters). I'd rather we get movies that haven't gotten any/got poor treatment first before we redo movies that already have good releases from the studio.
There's a bunch of stuff from Warner I want, but A Nightmare on Elm Street Collection that Matchs the Halloween collection is still my top desire by far. All the films can benefit from new scans, there is still uncut material that could be reincorporated to create uncut editions in the same way that Silent Night Deadly Night used the "lost" material, Individual discs/cases/slip box/case horrors hallowed grounds, etc. etc. etc. The demand is clearly still there and despite you not wanting it, it would undoubtedly be a very hot seller for the company which could hopeful help bring about many of those lesser titles people claim to enjoy but frequently have questionable sales numbers.

Thats great if they were merged, i tried finding some info when i was putting the list i posted togeather but couldnt really find anything. Hopefully they were as i really would love SHM2, Hard To Die and Dinosaur Island.

Normally I would agree and I think SF as well as all these labels should be focusing on titles that don't even have a blu ray release, but in the case for A Nightmare on Elm Street series, it NEEDS the special treatment. A box set like the Halloween 15 disk LE set would be epic and NOES is one of the top horror franchises next to Halloween and F13. So there should be no complaining about such a thing.

Poltergeist on the other hand, I'm more than fine with the digibook that I own and don't care for a collectors edition of that one. Not that I don't like the movie, I love Poltergeist but a re-release is not neceassry.

I watched it the other night.

My enjoyment of the film (and similar southern European films of the era) is less about the content and more about their ability to transport me to a world unlike what we see from the English speaking world.

The plot is a bit average and the acting is rather melodramatic. Purely as horror or suspense, this isn't exactly a barn burner.

But I really enjoy the change. Movies like this tend to focus my attention. I watch the screen, read the subtitles and pay attention to what's going on. It really pulls me out of my routine. If you're stuck in a rut, FANGS OF THE LIVING DEAD works.

Oh, and it has that goofy theme music that the Europeans used 50 years ago .

It's within the realm of possibility. It's a New Line property but since NL is now part of Warner that makes it a candidate. It all depends on the extent of Warner's generosity. Also, the film just underwent a restoration. Granted, it's a UK-based restoration but I refuse to believe it was restored just for one territory

If all of the Roger Corman movies were consolidated under New Horizon... which includes all of the New World movies prior to 1990.. does that mean we will get a blu-ray release of...

Wonder when we'll start hearing news from Scream Factory about potential Corman properties. I think it's safe to assume they'll target a few for the CE line. Hopefully.

Well if we're realistic, the only Corman properties likely to find their way in the CE line would be 'upgrades' of Piranha, Humanoids of the Deep, Galaxy of Terror, Forbidden World and perhaps Death Race 2000. Certainly, I can't see any realistic prospects among the titles not already part of the Corman Cult Classics line (be they DVD or Blu-ray).

I'm intrigued to know if the current Universal and MGM deals have been exhausted, or are near to that point. According to Kino's Insider, no other MGM titles with a previous DVD release have been licenced to labels, so if Scream does have any more MGM titles planned, they will be ones with a spotty home video history. Also, there are very few potential 'upgrades' left (they've denied having Hannibal, which only really leaves the Amityville remake). As for Universal, after a pretty busy start to the year there are no titles scheduled after early April. There are now very few post-1960s titles available (Let's Kill Uncle, No Escape, and a handful of 90s/00s titles). There are still quite a few double-dips possible, but it remains to be seen if Universal are willing to licence out Jaws 2-4 and American Werewolf in London, or even the Child's Play films. It could be that Scream push for another Universal deal purely for the CE potential, but a Warner deal might mean they're not as desperate to mine the MGM catalogue further, at least for the time being. We'll just have to wait and see.

yeah. One of those press releases/articles (I posted in the Shout thread) mentioned remakes, merch and streaming but not a single word about new blu-ray releases.

I'm not chomping at the bit for a new NOES set but would day-one a set of new scan/uncut versions.

That's interesting to hear. American Werewolf in London would fit nicely in the SF CEs, but since it just had a definite release, might not be a realistic option to make the jump to the CE line, which is understandable. I wouldn't want to buy it again; it looks great as it is. The Amityville remake? I'd be up for that, but it's not really anything special. I wish they could access some of the Amityville sequels. There's some lost gems there, with It's About Time, Dollhouse, Curse, and A New Generation. Wonder who owns those...

I think that the existing Shout Factory Corman Cult Classics Blu-rays (Piranha, Death Race 2000, Humanoids from the Deep, Rock 'N' Roll High School, Forbidden World, Galaxy of Terror, etc.) all look and sound great. The extras on each Blu-ray are also plentiful and fun.

Maybe not on par with the new Star Wars or Marvel Blu-rays, but there's nothing amiss in the presentations, and I'm cool with considering them to be the definitive high definition editions of these movies.

I'll double-dip on these Corman titles in a minute if improvements are made, but it's not like I'm desperately on the edge of my seat.

Yeah; I don't know if it'd be worth repackaging these for the CE line.

Not a Corman asset. Corman sold New World in 1983.

If Corman had it, then Watchers would be a shoe-in.

Brain Dead might be a possibility, based on star power.
