Personally, I don't like to preorder anything too far in advance so this isn't something I'll be looking forward to as much as I looked forward to Fridays but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. The important thing is there's a lot of good stuff coming - a little something for everyone.

I think that's exactly it-- and the facebook coments are very telling...

too bad but I fully understand. The bottom line is that we still have tons of stuff to look forward too as long as people support the releases... I'm hoping we all do so that we can continue to get real "special editions" of all our horror favorites!

That's true, but I seriously doubt they would so something like that, as wouldn't they have done that with a Carpenter, Craven, or Jamie Lee boxset? Who would be big enough to dedicate a whole boxset to (In the movies that they may possibly release) and charge people $60-$80 for. Other then Vincent Price I can't think of anyone else. Unless they include some titles they have already released but that would piss off a lot of people if they had to double dip already.

What about a Romero Dead trilogy? Has Cliff denied this yet? Night is Public Domain and no one knows who got the rights to Dawn. Could Scream be sitting on a huge release like this? This would be their biggest release yet if so! Then again I believe Cliff said there would be no money in releasing Night which I disagree with (Every site I go to there seems to be hundreds of fans clamoring for not only a NA release but a properly framed uncut release) and he may have denied Dawn as well. Anyone know?

What about a Stephen King Collection? Carrie, Misery (Although this already has a great release), Needful Things, and The Dark Half.

It could also just be a random collection of movies from the Midnite Collection I guess.

Did Cliff shut down a Hammer horror box set? This could include some of the titles Universal owns.

What about a Jaws sequels box set? If Universal wanted to release them on Blu they would have done so with the Jaws release no?

I'm not disagreeing with your comments but what a sad statement!! Why does everything have to cater to 20-somethings that have no appreciation for older films? I know that this age group rules at the boxoffice but don't all age groups buy movies? Surely there are plenty of people in their say 30's to 50's that have home theatres and collect movies... and with bigger incomes

*** and btw.. before someone comments-- yes I realize that there are fans of older horror flicks in their teens to 20's....

Because they spend the most money on blu-ray/video games/etc. This is the home video business, not the "home video non-profit charity for true films fans."

Nope. Younger demographics are where the money is at. A Price/Poe film from 50-55 years ago just doesn't appeal to most people (even hardcore horror fans) and certainly the 60+ year-old crowd isn't really clamoring for these titles on blu-ray.

Face it, these are niche titles at best.

I know that half the thread is wish lists and requests - I simply suggested that one take a few seconds to check who does own what before making such wish lists and requests, and provided the appropriate link to do so with.

I don't think you need to be 60+ to enjoy Vincent Price films.... I saw his films on TV growing up (I'm in my late 40's now and have been collecting movies since I was in my early 20's) so I think your comments are a little extreme...

I've been familiar with Vincent Price when I was a kid. First movie? The Great Mouse Detective and I managed to see the 1958 version of The Fly. So yeah, I'm 21 venturing to 22 in two weeks and I know who the guy is.

Maybe they've got an Empire Pictures box in the works? Ghoulies 1/2, Troll, Dolls, Breeders, Cellar Dweller, Crawlspace, etc? MGM probably has some other titles from Empire that I'm forgetting...

Guess I missed those comments as it appeared the positive far outweighed the negative on FB. Just wish Scream would have rolled with the punches a bit better since, in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't matter what other people think; it's just their opinion. Isn't criticism the highest forms of flattery.

I, for one, enjoyed and looked forward to the announcements. Sure, there were announcements I wasn't particularly interested in but I didn't find it necessary to comment on those. What is great is that there is something for everyone and on occasion there are even titles which I hadn't heard of before which prompted me to research those titles.

Guess everyone needs to remember, “You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

Vincent Price is an iconic figure in horror history, and the Corman/Poe films are held in higher regard by critics than most of Corman's other work, but from an economic standpoint, a box set of 1960's horror films on BD just wouldn't be a big moneymaker. Other than the one Harryhausen set, how many classic-era (1950-1970) genre box sets have ever been released on the format? None.

I agree - I don't think you need to be 60 to enjoy them either; I'm just presenting a realistic portrait of who these films typically appeal to, and why they aren't likely to be big sellers. They're a niche category within an already niche category.

You're almost 50 years old - most blu-ray buyers are probably 25-30 years younger than you and have never heard of Vincent Price and certainly aren't interested in buying these films.

Heck, Price probably died before many of them were born, and they certainly didn't grow up with his films the way you did. These movies are flat-out irrelevant to them, and they simply don't care (the vast majority of them, anyway).

I'm not saying that's good or passing judgement on younger people at all (hell, I'm under 30 and I've enjoyed a few Price films in my day). But that's just reality, whether you think it's "extreme" or not.

Shout/Scream Factory and all these other home video companies need to make money. That's their business. And if you (as a business) can't justify the cost to release a title or series of titles, then it's not good business to release them. Simple.

That would actually make a pretty cool poster, especially in a year or so, when it could have another 2 dozen covers added to it. Slap a Scream banner across the top, and I'd buy it. What do you say, Cliff? How about a poster with all the covers on it (minus the Blu-ray cases)?

I'm confused here...but anyway....no my thread it is everyone's thread.

Why don't you want to discuss what titles you would like to see? Did someone say something stupid to you? If so ignore them, who cares what they think. If there is something you like then don't feel like you can't discuss it.

I also loved the Friday announcements but it went deeper than 'I dont like this movie' it was the constant "Is this Region Free , slipcovers, subtitles , blu ray only , why is this movie being paired with that movie" it was a lot of the negative comments. I dont blame them for not doing them anymore, but really , who cares about we think be it positive or negative. You have to take the good with the bad. Arrow has an announcement coming up tomorrow and you know you will get both the pros and cons, but you know what, thats what they are releasing and you dont have to buy it if you dont want to. Im not buying every Scream title, but I do support everything they are doing, because its for us, the fans - not every title will appeal to us but I enjoy the fact that they are doing it. And there are several movies I am getting from them

I chuckle every time I read a post from someone in their 20's who say they like Vincent Price movies (or older movies in general). Takes a bit of the sting out of "only young people spend money on movies" kind of talk. The truth is, horror is big business. And whether you're 16 or 60, the bottom line is that while you can't please everyone all the time, Shout has a little something for all of us. These are good times and I, for one, am relishing every minute.
