That would be great; always happy to see more Lugosi on Blu. A collection similar to what Scream delivered for Vincent Price or Paul Naschy done for Sony Boris Karloff titles would be terrific. The Devil Commands, The Black Room, Before I Hang, The Boogie Man Will Get You and The Man They Could Not Hang would make for a sweet compilation of vintage B&W horror.

Hope to see Scream give Romero's Dawn of the Dead a proper release.

WB and Sony? If these deals are expansive, they are going to be set for years.
It's clear that Scream Factory is on the juice right now, big time. I can see this being their biggest year. What a great time to be a collector...

Brainscan is one of my top wants. This would be a HUGE title for Scream Factory, as there is currently no version of the film in any region, and it's become a cult favorite for many. A CE would be awesome. John Flynn has died, but I wonder if Edward Furlong would be up for a retrospective...?

I agree with you that with Universal, Sony and WB this is one hell of a year and it's out-frickin-standing.

Brainscan and Screamers would be nice!

Does anyone have experience with ordering direct through Scream factory?
If you preorder multiple titles on one transaction (to have free shipping) do they ship them as they come out or do you get it all together when the last title ships?

I have extensive experience ordering from Shout Factory.

I tend to place orders of huge batches of movies covering a couple of months at a time, and the titles all ship to me individually as they are released.
God bless Shout Factory for this.

I would probably save a decent bit of money by pre-ordering the respective titles from Amazon instead of directly from Shout, but I like supporting the label as best as I can, because they have provided me with a lot of great fun over the years.

And since Universal owns Dreamworks now, who's up for the Ringu movies in a boxset?

I believe it was said that when they got the remake and Land of the Dead, they tried for it as well but simply couldn't afford it because Rubinstein wants too much. (I believe it's rumored to be seven figures!) At this point, I feel like Criterion is probably our only hope for it.

The Dreamworks live action catalog up through ~2010 is owned by Paramount (though it's possible non-US films may have their distribution rights lapse at some point).

Does that mean they could potentially release SIDEKICKS?

Obviously we don't know at this stage how big the deal with Sony is - nor indeed the precise terms of it, which could hinder the potential for Collector Editions - but still, I've come up with a list of possible titles. Now this is far more complicated than other studios, given the relationships with Twilight Time and in particular Mill Creek. The announcements of The Tingler and Strait-Jacket at least confirms that some titles Mill Creek put out on DVD could be available to Scream. Their arrangement with Sony is obviously peculiar, as that Charles Bronson set confirms, so it could even be that Scream could get access to titles Mill Creek have released on Blu. Anyway, I'm going to separate this list accordingly. Obviously there will be titles I've missed, so just let me know and I'll add them. I expect this is particularly true of post-2000 titles, which seem to be mostly awful in any case.

Also, I'm aware that some of these already have region-free Indicator releases. We can discuss that and other concerns in subsequent posts, this is merely a list of titles.

To start with, titles without a US Blu-ray release (to my knowledge) which do not (yet) appear to have been licenced to Image, Mill Creek or Twilight Time:

[Show spoiler]
The Soul of a Monster

Zombies of Mora Tau
The Werewolf
Curse/Night of the Demon

The Mad Room

The Mind of Mr Soames
Fragment of Fear
A Reflection of Fear
See No Evil
The Mutations
(not sure if this is still with Sony)
Warlords of Atlantis
Eyes of Laura Mars
Ravagers

Runaway
Cold Steel
The Stranger
Cameron's Closet
Monster High
Hit List
(not sure if this is still with Sony)

Children of the Night
The Dark Backward
Past Midnight
Severed Ties
Hideaway
Mute Witness
The Fan
Solo
Bats

The Forsaken
The Glass House
The Mothman Prophecies
Spider
Vampires: Los Muertos
Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid
Dead Birds
The Forgotten
Boogeyman
The Dark
The Fog
Urban Legends: Bloody Mary
Vampires: The Turning
Devour
The Grudge 2
I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer
The Marsh
Boogeyman 2
Outpost
The Grudge 3

Now, titles which have been licenced to Mill Creek for DVD, but have not yet been released by them on Blu-ray (I've omitted Hammer titles since it's likely they'll do any remaining ones):

[Show spoiler]
Return of the Vampire

The Black Room
The Man They Could Not Hang
The Man With Nine Lives
Before I Hang
The Devil Commands
The Boogie Man Will Get You

Five

Creature with the Atom Brain
The Giant Claw
The Man Who Turned to Stone
The Night The World Exploded

The 27th Day
The H-Man
(US version only - Sony previously released both cuts on DVD)
Valley of the Dragons
12 to the Moon

Battle in Outer Space (US version only - Sony previously released both cuts on DVD)

Mothra (US version only - Sony previously released both cuts on DVD)
The Old Dark House (Castle)

The New Kids
Out of the Dark
Relentless

The Breed
She Creature
The Cave
The Hunt for the BTK Killer
Black Water
Vinyan

Now, titles previously released on Blu by Sony, and not subsequently licenced out to Image or Mill Creek for Blu-ray (to my knowledge). I've left out Ghostbusters 1+2 and Bram Stoker's Dracula, since there is no way Scream could top existing releases:

[Show spoiler]
Earth vs. the Flying Saucers
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad
Jason and the Argonauts

Christine
Night of the Creeps
Wolf
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein
Ghosts of Mars
976-Evil
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
Resident Evil
(+ sequels)
Underworld (+ sequels)
Starship Troopers
Godzilla
(98)
The Grudge
Silent Hill
Premonition
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
Quarantine
Prom Night
(2008)
30 Days of Night
Insidious
Hellboy
Secret Window
So I Married An Axe Murderer

Millennium-era Godzilla series
Rebirth of Mothra I-III

Next, titles released by Twilight Time, now sold out:

[Show spoiler]
Fright Night
The Blob
John Carpenter's Vampires
Christine
Body Double
Night of the Living Dead
Enemy Mine
Mindwarp
First Men in the Moon
Mysterious Island

Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger
The Golden Voyage of Sinbad

Titles licenced to Mill Creek for Blu-ray release. A few of these appear to be OOP (Original When a Stranger Calls, Happy Birthday to Me), and some were already released on Blu by Sony:

[Show spoiler]

Nightwing
Shadow of the Hawk
20 Million Miles to Earth
It Came from Beneath the Sea
Krull
Pulse
Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone
Silent Rage
Torture Garden
The Creeping Flesh
Brotherhood of Satan
A Study in Terror
When a Stranger Calls (original)
When a Stranger Calls (remake)
Happy Birthday To Me
I Know What You Did Last Summer
The Messengers
Flatliners
Vacancy
Wind Chill
Hostel
Hostel Part 2
Hollow Man
Hollow Man 2
Anaconda
Anatomy
Anatomy 2
Identity
Berserk!

And finally (phew), titles licenced to Image for Blu. Again, Apt Pupil at least appears to be OOP:

[Show spoiler]
The Collector
The Deep
Johnny Mnemonic
Apt Pupil
Idle Hands
Darkness Falls

Maybe Criterion should do Dawn of the Dead 1978 if Rubenstein changes his mind about the money thing.

I can't believe he blew some money on a 3D conversion that never worked.

Great job!

Don't forget that Sony also deals with Criterion (see: The Age of Innocence, A Matter of Life and Death), so that further complicates what may come through Shout Factory vs. Criterion/Twilight Time/Mill Creek.

True, but I'd be surprised if Criterion were interested in acquiring any of the above titles (Curse/Night of the Demon being the obvious exception).
