I already own all 3 films in their non-scream factory editions... would everyone still say that they are worth a double dip on (or in the case of Child's Play, triple dip)? The Best Buy prices are tempting and I have some reward zone cash I need to use soon before they expire.
I'd say Day of the Dead is definitely worth a double dip if you love the movie as much as I do

The only one I double dipped on was Day of the Dead so id say that one is worth it. With Child's Play I'm happy to stay with the copy that came in the complete collection set. With Invasion I think it depends on how much you like the film.

I bet they might do a 2-disc CE of Jason Goes to Hell The Final Friday with 3 cuts, extras galore and 2K remastering.

Jason Goes to Hell needs the unrated cut on blu. The best kill in the entire thing, the tent scene, is basically a 2-3 second splash of blood in the R-rated cut. The movie isn't that great as it is so it needs as much red stuff and bare breasts as it can get

Yes it should have all 3 cuts being r-rated cut, unrated cut and TV cut.

Plus i think they should do The Mangler

I haven't a clue who has the rights but 2 late 80s films i'd love Scream to rescue from obscurity are

"Nightwish" (1989)
"Rush Week" (1988)

"Nightwish" i have always loved, it's got a really oddball vibe to it and some decent effects yet nobody ever talks about it.

"Rush Week" is a 2nd tier slasher and has some faults, but is for me it's always entertaining. It's streets ahead of a lot of slashers that have great blu ray releases imo.

Someone just bumped the Urban Legend thread and brought up a good point. The Sony blu is currently OOP. I could see SF reviving this one. Maybe giving us the sequels as well. The original was actually one of the better 90s teen horror movies in my opinion. On that note, from the same director, it would be nice to see Valentine get a blu release because that's never happened yet.

Can anyone advise whether the Australian set is worth importing?

Add to that a wonderfully over-the-top appearance by Anne Bancroft, Gwyneth Paltrow getting unceremoniously offed early on and Baldwin's "God Complex" speech and you have a delicious camp classic. Great, ludicrous, nasty fun and highly recommended.
Yeah, I love that one. Has a good Kino release, too. Great Gordon Willis cinematography.

I have heard that all three films are good upgrades over the DVD counterparts. I have not yet imported the trilogy, though. I feel like it's going to get a U.S. release. I've semi-halted a lot of my imports right now; there's just no telling what SF has right to at the moment. I recently bought the Italian Memoirs of an Invisible Man, and will probably unload it to get the Scream disc, but I want to keep things like that to a minimum.

Ok thanks for the info. I’ll probably get the set from eBay there is a listing for $26. At less than $10 a film I think I’ll just pick it up. I think the only way I’ll wait is if Scream Factory actually announced they will be releasing these films. At this price it’s no big deal if I sell it later for much less for an upgrade.

Do they still produce older titles with slipcovers? If I purchase The Thing, will it come with one?

Would be great if they added this upcoming doc as well but it's going to be feature length so maybe not. Released around the same time would be nice though.

Oh shit, posts like this are always music to my ears. Time to cash out on my copy of Audition. Thanks.

There is really no way to tell if you'll get a slipcover unless you order within the first three months. A lot of older titles no longer come with the slipcover, but then someone will order one from Scream Factory, or even Amazon, and it will come with one, proving there's really no formula to any of it. It's really luck of the draw, so if you absolutely want one, purchase on eBay. You can always try for it on Amazon, and if it doesn't have one, try to buy the slipcover from someone in a collecting group, as some don't want them/prefer to sell them. Just when it seems like a slipcover is OOP, someone will buy one from an online retailer and it will show up with one. I just saw that happen with Assault on Precinct 13, which is one of the rarest SF slipcovers, so you just never know.

Urban Legend and Valentine should be likely candidates. (I hope!)

Scream only guarantees slip for the first 3 months, after that it's anyone's guess. On the more popular selling titles like The Thing though I'd probably say you might not get one. With older releases that aren't as popular you have a better chance, at least in my experience.
