I will be interested in revisiting this though since it's probably been 20 years since I last watched it. I always remember the scene with the old zombie answering the phone and being asked who the president is, "um, Harry Truman" |

4K or 2K either way but it should look better than my old DVD.

They haven't announced a Shout Select title in a good while, but have promised there are big titles for the future.

Well, nice to see Return of the Living Dead Part II come out...I won't be getting it(I think 3 is much better) but good to see for those that want it and also means we are getting closer to my wanted titles...Critters set, Deadly Friend and hopefully a Tremors CE...ok and Nightwing from Sony if they can get it.

Nightwing would make a fine choice as it needs the BD treatment badly. |

I'm calling Judgment Night and Surviving the Game as future Shout Select titles.

Keeping an eye on Robert Englund's social media pages and convention appearances. He's known to let slip tidbits, so if he ever says "I just did some commentary for the Nightmare sequels" we'll know that Freddy's coming to Scream Factory, sooner or later.
And yes, I believe that franchise deserves better than what WB did on the last set (Especially the PQ on some of the sequels, The Dream Master in particular.) Commentaries from Englund on 2-6 should have been a reality as far back as the original New Line Platinum Edition. The man can talk up a storm for hours about anything. Aside from that, I'm VERY happy about the recent announcements and look forward to all the possibilities ahead. |

Robert Englund doing new commentary tracks for Elm Street 1-5, Freddy's Dead, New Nightmare and Freddy Vs. Jason (perhaps with Heather on Elm Street 1, Dream Warriors and New Nightmare while Ken Kirzinger joins him for Freddy Vs. Jason. Perhaps Lisa Wilcox could join for her respective entries, Mark Patton and Kim Myers for Freddy's Revenge and maybe some father/daughter chat with Lisa Zane for Freddy's Dead) would be awesome.
I doubt anyone from the remake would be up for a commentary track for the 2010 remake except maybe Kyle Gallner, who's character Quentin Smith has enjoyed a surge in popularity lately thanks to Dead by Daylight. That said, I could see Jackie Earle Haley, Thomas Dekker and Katie Cassidy doing interviews, though. |

No way is Return II as good as the original. The soundtrack is not as good, the cast isn't as good and the lines aren't as good either. It's more like an alternative take on the original. It should have been thrown on the original release like a work print would be.

With the WB deal, providing New Line titles are included (which I'm sure they are), then maybe we can get a nice blu of the Willard remake.
It'd make a nice companion to Scream's blu of the original! ![]() |

Carrie, I'd have to agree, is a classic that can rank beside Exorcist, Shining, Rosemary's Baby, and so forth. It very well could have been placed within Criterion, especially since they have other De Palma films. I was surprised to see Scream Factory release it, but they put out a nice edition, so it's all right with me.

A bit of ancient history, but Carrie was released by Criterion on laserdisc waaaay back in 1991 and featured an audio commentary by De Palma scholar Laurent Bouzereau and screenwriter Lawrence D. Cohen.
Would love to see either Scream or Criterion release De Palma's The Fury in a special-edition that would give the excellent Arrow release a run for its money... ![]() Last edited by MJD64; 05-02-2018 at 06:48 PM. |
