Cant fault them for that.

All Scream would have to do, is utilize Eureka's edition of Fright Night for an american release since there's nothing SF would need to do. Fright Night part 2 on the other hand need to atleast secure the remainder of the You're So Cool documentary that goes into the sequel that was cut out of the Eureka release, and put it on their release. Don't know if they could do much better picture wise... The 84 entertainment German edition is really good, but lacks features. The Blob is a no-brainer. I have the Umbrella release, but these titles deserve to be available like normal to the U.S. masses. None of this limited exclusivity crap.

Plus, I would think (re-)releasing sure-fire sellers like these allows them to then take chances releasing "lesser" or more obscure titles that aren't necessarily guaranteed big sellers.

I am all for availability.

Are people salty because their Fright Night is not so limited now?
Aside from TT collectors, I believe most people traded their 'limited TT copy' for the highly superior Eureka edition, which is Region Free, widely available and can be imported at a very fair price (considering the release is packed with supplemental material).
Just because that edition is not available at any retailer site doesn't mean it needs a reissue from Scream.

And the Eureka edition, which is the one most people own now, was never limited.

EBay has the Eureka edition for 25 bucks. Amazon is only pimping out the German release which is going for 28... of course this is only an obstacle for those in the states. The Eureka edition is indeed beautiful... but what would an American release hurt? For solidarity.

BINGO! The High-Profile releases like "Mad Max," "The Thing," "Halloween 2" all pay for the the operating costs of the company. Without them there would be not bread and butter to go around for the other titles.

I dunno if anyone mentioned it... but SF should try to snag the original Dawn of the Dead. They have Day under their belt, and Dawn is in need of an update. The AB edition is OOP, so it seems poised for an opportunity.

There are a couple of things (the Icons of Fright commentaries and the Isolated Score track) on the TT rerelease that weren't included on the Eureka release, though I have my doubts Scream Factory would be all that interested in the score track. I suspect Scream Factory would try to secure the rights to You're So Cool, Brewster! The Story of Fright Night.

It is available on Amazon.com for about $22.00 from 3rd party sellers.

It'd be cheaper to import it via Amazon.co.uk, though. $17.19 shipped to the US.

Sigh, Amazon frustrates me so... I looked all over on their site for that version, and only the German release would show up.

I had to click on "See All Formats" under the German release to find it.

Unfortunately the rights to that movies are tied up in like the ninth level of rights hell and nobody can really touch it at the moment.

Well I still have my AB copy, holding onto it like grim death... but it's unfortunate for those who haven't gotten it yet. Don't know why there's so much entanglement. This is the 40th anniversary and amidst Romero's passing into legend, they want to make it into a legal, monetary complication???

They did mention that when they got Day of the Dead, they tried to get the original Dawn of the Dead, too. But the rights owner wants a lot of money for it (rumored to be seven figures, in order to recoup the cost he spent converting it to 3D) and they simply couldn't afford it.

So some schmuck spent money on converting a movie never intended for 3D into 3D and is now holding the movie hostage for an exorbant amount of money because he's a schmuck? *facepalm*

The "leak" I heard was for Urban Legend, Fright Night, the Blob, NotLD90, Critters, Poltergeist, Carpenter's Vampires, DeNiro's Frankenstein, Silent Hill, and Creepshow.

Now, take this all with a grain of salt; the guy might just be putting everyone on. Sadly, I own all of these save for Critters and Frankenstein. I know that Critters is coming (someone confirmed it to me), but the others are not very interesting. Yes, Creepshow would be great with a new transfer. What makes this transparent is the Poltergeist release. We all know Spielberg doesn't want a CE out there; we'd already have one if he did. This makes for good discussion, but I think that's probably all it is.

If Scream Factory does indeed release Poltergeist, I highly doubt it will be a CE. Maybe just a new scan. There's too much controversy surrounding the film, and Spielberg doesn't enjoy people discussing the ins and outs of the production. Apparently a lot went on behind the scenes, and Spielberg had to direct quite a bit while Hooper was off doing drugs. Just what I've read, anyway. I'd personally love a CE of Poltergeist to go with the sequels. It's one of the best horror films out there.

Honestly, I'd be happy with just a new scan of Poltergeist... The older blu ray was great for it's time, but it's low bitrate on an outdated codec just screams "improve me". Does Spielberg have to play ball in order for there to be a collector's edition?

The only one on that list that seems implausible (in terms of film choice alone) to me is Frankenstein - I'm a big fan, but really can't see Scream doing it. It would be a CE, and what actors could they get for interviews, realistically? I'd be hugely surprised if Branagh was involved. It could use a better transfer perhaps but I can't see Scream bringing too much else to the table.

Having said that, It is always good news when titles that are either sold out limited editions or just OOP get released again so people can get them at a fair price.

Wouldn't a 2K remastered Creepshow BD with extras like featurette on how the film influenced many horror filmmakers, interviews, Romero memorial tribute, tv spots, radio spots, trailers, poster and still gallery and deleted scenes be nice.

Silent Hill CE with new 2K scan be awesome, Vampires CE with 4K scan (i didn't get the Twilight Time BD as it seems way too expensive), Night of the Living Dead 1990, The Blob CE and more sounds nice. Urban Legend be nice too.

How about Poltergeist: CE with new 4K or 2K restoration plus a commentary from Frank Marshall producer and a Poltergeist historian plus a featurette with Frank Marshall and interviews with the stars and special effects makers, featurettes, trailers, TV spots, radio spots and poster and still gallery?

Creepshow UK BD is region b and not all of us have all region players like others, take me for example as i can only play region A and 0 region BDs on my BD player and playstations 3 and 4 and UltraHD player. So a CE region 1 BD of Creepshow seems like a nobrainer for those who can play only region A BDs and region 0 BDs.

There are way more than enough extras for Creepshow already on Region 1 BD. Just buy the documentary disc and combine it with the current movie disc. Problem solved!

The existence of that documentary disc makes me kind of doubt we're going to see a CE in this country. I doubt Synapse would want to sell those extras to a different label, and no CE is going to have better extras than that disc.
