Aside from extras (Because yes, we have plenty regarding this franchise) I do not understand how any updated Nightmare on Elm Street boxset can be considered "useless" by collectors. WB did an okay job with that last set, but Elm Street deserves so much better, as good as the recent Halloween and Phantasm sets and the classic New Line Platinum Nightmare set (I'll leave out the F13 BD boxsets, because I think those deserve better too.)

Each film deserves its own disc, for starters. And while I think Nightmares 1 & 2 and New Nightmare are presented well in the PQ department, 3-6 could vastly benefit from fresh remasters. That's really all I care about, fresh scans and separate discs. Anything extra (new art/original art reversible. All those additional BTS specials for the sequels. New commentaries) is just icing on the cake.

And yes, regardless of how bad it may be to some, I want Freddy's Nightmares on DVD as well. What collector or nostalgia fan wouldn't? As Freddy Krueger said to those cinematic mistakes known as Dream Demons...

"I want it ALLLL!"

Anybody out there old enough to remember the brief run (late '81 to early '82) of the Night Gallery/Twilight Zone inspired Universal TV series Darkroom hosted by James Coburn? I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hold up to my recollections of it as a teen when I first watched it, but if Scream were to release it I'd pick it up in a heartbeat!

I agree, in fact NoTLD '90 would be the only CE from that list that would get me really excited. It's a terrific remake. I'd rank it as high as the original Romero film.

A CE of Poltergeist would be lovely as well, but I seriously doubt most people related to the film would want to discuss the production process with all that Spielberg crap still going on. Shout couldn't even get interviews with Craig T Nelson and Jobeth Williams for their Poltergeist II release.

As do I! It definitely has it's place in my top ten. I was referring to the fact that reissues that sell well pave the way for these kind of releases.

As irritated as I was with some of the recent slate of CEs (Drag Me To Hell, The Strangers), I'm fine with it if it helps us get more titles that are otherwise overlooked.

worth buying for sure---- yes Ami Dolenz was gorgeous! The movie offers some good atmosphere and creepy looking vampires from what I remember.

It looks like Umbrella just used the best print they could find without any additional clean-up.

I never knew the film was cut for gore, though. Is there a site that details what was cut out?
I have that copy and it's not that great. The picture is cropped, and edge enhancement riddled.

^The featurette is also on the Umbrella Blu.

Some pretty juicy stuff (zombie getting his head blown completely off with the double barrel is a highlight) but I think I remember reading somewhere that an uncut version is unlikely due to the footage being in too rough a shape.

"The less you show, the better it is".....

No, Tom......no.

Wow. Yeah, that shotgun blast to the head is frikkin' awesome! Sounds like Savini's not that upset that stuff was cut, and I get what he means about how seeing less can be more effective. Still, would be great if somehow that deleted footage could be restored to make an uncut version.

What about releasing Amityville 2 the possession so I don't have to buy the box set when I already have the first one

The Umbrella releases of The Blob and Night of the Living Dead are good enough unless Scream has lots of features to add to The B lob. The Umbrella Night of the Living Dead has enough features. No need to buy it again.

Creepshow does need a new release, and so does Urban Legend.

Fright Night? Get the Eureka release. Nothing else is needed.

There's still a demand for them and people ill buy them.
Cant fault them for that.
And all the better if they include more features or rescan.
Even some of us "I don't double dip for Scream" people end up giving in...

I always say that I don't need a 2nd edition of ___ title, but I had older releases of Return of the Living Dead, The Thing, Misery, The Strangers, Dawn of the Dead, Fargo and Escape from New York and I still got the Scream releases now. So I guess my word can't be taken as gospel on this.

Why wouldn't they be able to at least restore it partially. I've never seen this movie but that zombie getting his head blown off would be enough for me to watch it if they made an unrated cut.

But what if the Night blu has a 4K or 2K restoration? and Creepshow us BD is quite bareboned eh?

And for those who own Eureka's BD of Fright Night, would Fright Night 2 Collector's Edition from Scream be a perfection companion complete with the Fright Night documentary?

I think NoTLD '90 deserves better than what we got so far, but I'm a fan of the film. Maybe I'm full of shit.

I agree. The "best" version available right now is still a bootleg version that came out after the Twilight Time edition and before the Umbrella edition in my opinion. It's still my go to version despite owning both of the other official releases. This release would be perfect for the Scream Factory Line and one I wouldn't think twice about picking up again if a new scan/better features could be included. Add the possibility of a never before seen uncut version and... well...
