But seriously, a PG13 Robocop? in 1993? What did they think was going to happen?
PG-13 And the lack of Peter Weller is why I haven't even bothered seeing it, let alone putting money on it. I love the original so much that I named one of my dogs after it (yes, his name is Robocop), and rate the sequel along the same lines as Predator 2 or similar fare; flawed, but still a blast. I just can't imagine a RoboCop flick that middle-school students can legally buy a ticket for.

I haven't gotten around to picking the movie up yet.

I love the whole series. There is a great UK set that contains all four Best of the Best films on Blu-ray. I'd be happy if Scream released it, but it seems like a long shot to me. That UK set is pretty awesome, though. Part 2 does indeed have the best fight scenes.

In reference to the "worst" Scream Factory CEs, I'd go with Garbage Pail, Teen Wolf Too, Leslie Vernon, and the Strangers. I collect all the CEs, and though I currently own them all, I've started to question the need to own the ones I'm never going to watch. It's a possibility that Ninja III will be the first CE I don't buy. That last bunch, pre Warner and Sony buzz, seemed desperate and unfitting with the label. I don't want to start an argument over the quality of those films--I do respect LV and Strangers, they just seemed like unnecessary CE acquisitions.

I don't think I've ever been disappointed by a Scream Factory release - at least not about the quality of the movie itself. I know what I get myself into when I buy this stuff and do try to limit myself to movies I'll likely watch more than once. I do find it curious what people's standards are when they call something a turd. For Robocop 3, for instance, do they hate the film because Robocop can fly like Superman and they find that preposterous? I don't let these details bother me tbh. Most movies are turn-your-brain-off engagements meant to provide an escape and entertain you for 90 minutes.

Do they always just release one Collectors Edition a month? I swear they used to release 2 or 3 a month.

I'd also say the PG-13 aspects play the biggest role in hamstringing the movie. This is Robocop. It needs to be over-the-top violent.

Eric Roberts will forever have my respect for the work he did on Best of the Best. For a guy that doesn't have any real life formal martial arts training, I thought he did a hell of a job in his fight scene with James Lew. I read something about him training with Phillip Rhee to prepare for the role, but that wouldn't be easy to pick up in a matter of weeks or months.

As has been discussed, the original Best of the Best is with Sony. Hopefully it's something for the Shout Select line at some point. Best of the Best 2 on the other hand is with Fox. The only company I can think of that is currently working with Fox is Kino. So it might be possible.

They pick up in the fall usually, especially October

I assume the reason for the lack of CE's for the past few months is because Scream have been working on a huge amount of Warner titles (and sony too) to release for this fall. The Comic Con announcements this year should be good!

Keep in mind that licensing agreements can also dictate what is and isn't a collectors edition. On top of that theirs the cost factor. Not every title is going to see adequate sales at the Collectors Edition MSRP, but at a slightly cheaper standard edition MSRP product may move a bit quicker. I'd say so far there really haven't been any collectors edition worthy titles beyond the ones already announced as collectors editions.

Piranha II was going to be a CE but now that they're working with Sony it was downgraded. It seems that Sony is allowing them to do a few new extras but not to the extent that they wanted in order to make it a CE.

So for all we know, they might not be allowed to make CE versions of Sony titles. I'm not really expecting Sony to treat Shout any different than Twilight Time.

I agree Robocop 2 was the last worthy Robocop worth a damn in my view as since 3 they had been water downing the character of his r-rated adult roots and dumbing him down to PG-13 with Robocop 3, the series and the remake and not respecting the roots of the character.

I think they should do a netflix or amazon prime TV animated series with a TV-MA rating and have MGM Television with Madhouse studios of Japan with Yoshika Kawajari of Ninja Scroll/Wicked City/Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust fame to do the series and be back to the r-rated roots of the first 2 movies.

Candyman CE might be in the works if Shout/Scream can join with Sony for it and could be announced at the comic con or this month or next month.

I'm sure they got Fright Night CE (even thought there is some people who don't own the Eureka BD would be glad to have it but i just got the Eureka BD and would love to have part 2 in a CE which i'm sure they might announce 2), The Blob CE, Sleepwalkers, Wolf, Night of the Living Dead 1990 CE and others in the works it's a theory from Sony.

Hope this month they will announce a couple of more August titles and next month a couple of titles for september.

Not to turn this into a Best of the Best thread, but I'm right there with you on Eric Roberts's performance. He comes across as a talented martial artist. I like that Roberts has evolved into this film-saving character actor over time, but he's still very underappreciated, and always brings a certain entertainment value--as well as a semblance of quality--to any film he's in. Best of the Best 2 is another great performance from him, as is Free Fall.

Slightly curious wording there, with the 'at present time'. Maybe they're trying to negotiate something?
