I own it. It's a challenging listen, but a testament to his versatility. Anyone who thinks he has one mode should be forced to listen to it.

And Heartbeeps... ah, Hearbeeps, you guilty pleasure you. The End Credits is glorious. It's as if John Carpenter and E.T. had a baby.

I'm a Williams completist, which makes the fact that I forgot he did Close Encounters between Star Wars and the Fury even more embarrassing!

With the exception of the titles that sell out right away(Fright Night, NOTLD '90, Christine...) you can just wait until they go on sale for around $9 - that's what I did with the majority of TT titles I own.

Once I did buy it, I couldn't believe I waited so long. I'll never understand why people will fight the notion of acquiring a region free player. You will save a lot of money in the long run. Why buy the U.S. release of You Only Live Twice for $90, when you can pick up the Italian region B for $7? There are tons of titles that fit this same paradox. Every collector is on his or her own journey, but I'm telling you, if you don't own a region free player and you're serious about collecting, you're doing yourself and your collection a huge disservice.

In regard to Candyman; I would not be surprised if Scream Factory does indeed have the film, and are just remaining tight-lipped about it, as they so often do. On the other hand, whoever made the comment about Sony releasing it the way they did with 976-EVIL makes an interesting point. Sony could very well be releasing a horror movie every year around October under this "Columbia Home Video" line, and Candyman could possibly be coming from their own label. Regardless, we know it's on the way. I'm sure more details will be surfacing soon...
I only speak for myself, but as a collector I really like uniformity and the look of the collection in general, I have a few region free import blu Ray's and I decided I dont like the way they look when viewed as part of a bigger collection. Just my 2 cents. It seems like anytime someone requests a blu release people will chime that there is a German or French, but there are a few of us (probably just me since I'm speaking for myself) who just hope for the stateside releases and are requesting just those. Kudos to those who reap the region free benefit though

I’m with you. I only have two firm rules when it come to blu buying - no used copies unless it’s oop and us releases only. I understand why people preach region free, but I hate when they look down at those who only collect region 1/us releases.

I'm not anywhere near most of you guys collection-wise, and have only been buying BDs for the last couple of years, but the DVD-era taught me to immediately buy into all-region. I grabbed a $45 Seiki last year, and while it's slow to power on and eject discs, I couldn't be happier with my options (although it seems that whenever I purchase an import, a local label seems to announce it soon after). Eventually I'll upgrade to a better player, but for now, I'm set, and can't recommend the "upgrade" enough.

I've been region-free for a few years now and it's great. But in my experience, I've had more mediocre foreign discs than great ones. There's a lot of stuff out there that makes me think the label perhaps didn't go through proper channels to license the film, to put it politely. For me it's mainly about owning a copy of something that's not available here. PQ is not really a factor.

I don't "look down" on those who refuse to go region-free, I just think they're missing out on a LOT of great movies.

if you decide US release only, that's fine. plenty of people do that. what's annoying is when people bemoan the lack of a US release when there's a great release in another region. if someone is not going to buy a UK disc of a movie you want, then i don't see how those people have ground to complain about availability.

not saying you do this, i just see it every time Arrow does announcements and it baffles me.

I just don't get why they make some of their films only for the UK. I would have loved a Carrie Arrow US release.

Great point. I don't "look down" on Region A Collectors at all. Like I said, everyone has their own journey for collecting, and their own wants and parameters. As a cinephile, I want to own the movies I want to see in the best possible editions, as close to the director's vision as possible. That's Blu-ray, more often than not. Arrow is a great example. They release a lot of must-own films, and a lot of those are Region B. I'd rather own and experience the film in its native region than having to watch it in standard definition (the U.S. DVD release, most likely), which, since the advent of HD, is nearly unwatchable to me . Just my two cents. I will still buy the occasional DVD if there is no HD release and I'm jonesing for the film. I just bought Palmetto, the Watcher in the Woods, and the Black Hole on DVD. But I hate that I can't experience them the way they should be seen.

it's licensing rights. Scream has the rights in North America, Arrow in the UK. that's up to the studios who own the films, not the blu-ray labels who go after them. dollars to donuts Arrow would have loved to release a big title like this in a nice collectors edition. it just couldn't happen with Scream also going for and obtaining that license

Is there a forum that has updated list of titles only released in non-US markets?

It's too late for that. The revolution has begun.

I got a couple of ideal Sony Scream releases as they were never released on BD

Screamers (1995) and The Forsaken,
