Scream Factory Blu-ray Discussion Thread

Watched about an hour of House That Dripped Blood last night before I turned my attention to something else. Frankly, I was not into it. Anthology movies aren't my favorite but I enjoy some of them - this one wasn't scary or fun at all IMO. The first story was a rehash of the same plot you typically see in these kinds of movies

. Coming up with good stories for this type of movie is probably a tougher task than writing a traditional screenplay since everything has to be condensed into 20 minute slots - a reason why I'm not a big fan of the genre. May end up selling this one.

Has anyone bought Caged Fury? I just bit the bullet (another blind buy) and hope it's fun.

This would be excellent, as any Stephen King movie (television or theatrical) not currently on blu-ray. There's still some greats that have yet to make it to blu-ray. The Dead Zone, Storm of the Century, The Langoliers, etc...

50's sci-fi films are severely lacking on blu ray ... there are tons of them not released yet.... why in the world would I want a film that already has a perfectly good disc from Universal?????????

How about Tarantula instead?

I like The Langoliers, but God, the special effects are atrocious. How about The Night Flier

I agree about the Langoliers' special effects. Something you would expect from a YouTube video.

I just watched Caged Fury last week and thought it was pretty fun. Dipping my toe into the women in prison genre, but I think Chained heat is up next for me, followed by The Naked Cage. Any thoughts on Scream's release of the latter?

The Scream transfers aren't that good, but transfers isn't Scream Factory's strong point and so I'm not sure they'd give us better in that department.

I can just imagine how great Scream releases of the Scream films would be. If only it were possible, although I'd only want the first film.

Same. I find the sequels entertaining but each film became more goofy than the previous. Just compare the intro of the original Scream with the intro of part 4. I remember people started to laugh in the theater when the garage door crushed the girl's back, it was so silly. Felt like I was watching one of those parody films.
The uncut version of the original Scream is the only movie I'd buy from this franchise at this point.

The girl who plays Dinah makes those giant meatballs with teeth look good. What an atrocious little actress, she's a hoot to watch when you're stoned.

They’d have to do a new deal with Universal. I’m sure it will happen eventually, but I have to think they’re concentrating on their new deals with Warner and Sony. IMO, that would be the smart thing to do since you never know if those studios might change their minds.

Well ok Tarantula and Incredible Shrinking Man would be good Universal releases from Shout/Scream.

It's Alive's restoration in 2K looks fantastic as you'd be hard to be convinced it was made in 1974 and It's Alive III looks better than 2 and good quite good.

There's Carrie, The Thing, Sleepaway Camp, Of Unknown Origin, Misery, Nightbreed on both cuts, Phantom of the Paradise, Prince of Darkness, Army of Darkness International version, Brain that Wouldn't Die, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Return of the Living Dead, Manhunter theatrical cut, Silent Night Deadly Night theatrical cut, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Child's Play, Exorcist III theatrical cut, Rabid, Dead Ringers, Black Christmas, Poltergeist II, Firestarter, Robocop 2, Lawnmower Man, Species, Teen Wolf, Dawn of the Dead 2004 theatrical cut, Land of the Dead theatrical cut and The Gate II are examples of great transfers.

Yes we can sure use more Universal BDs and maybe tommorow or next week or in June we can expect more Warner, Sony and Universal with some Independent titles even at the comic con and hoping we get Alligator announced since it's an independent title.

well ok maybe not that but the others i mentioned have great ones.

I'm sure Child's Play 2 and 3 will be announced at the end of this month or next month or at the comic con, most likely comic con.

Child's Play 2 and 3 already have great transfers. I'm more interested in the supplemental materials Scream would come up with since these films have been released with nothing but a trailer so far.

There was a post I found somewhere a while back that Child’s Olay 2 has an alternate opening scene of the investigators going into the apartment to pick up Chucky’s burnt remains. Has anyone heard of or seen such footage?

Never heard or seen that before. I do know that in the original script the movie started with the trial of the murders from the first film, in which Detective Mike makes a deal with the police and lies to the court saying that Chucky was never alive, then Karen is sent to a psychiatric facility and Andy placed for adoption. But according to Don Mancini that alternate intro was never shot.
There are several deleted scenes in both CP 2 and 3 that appeared in the TV cuts of the films tho.

The Thing has been outed as not having a great transfer. A lot of people also seem to believe the transfers for Dawn and Land are inferior to the original release. I'm pretty sure people have had issues Dead Ringers also.
