[QUOTE=TripleHBK;15201189]I'd argue the extra value that Diabolik provides is first and foremost access to a wide range of cult films from all over the world that are otherwise difficult to obtain. QUOTE]

I don't want to sound like I don't appreciate Diabolik. I've spend thousand of dollars there. I very much enjoy locking in preorders through the site, and the knowing that they will arrive as soon as possible and with care. They maintain a good, constantly updating selection, and it's a convenient way to shop for as well as learn about new titles and films.

It's a sad note for the online retailers, because it's going to be a huge hassle trying to keep up with sales tax regulations for all 50 states.

Online purchases were never intended to be tax-exempt, though. Many, if not all, of the states have use tax laws in place for online / out-of-state purchases where no taxes were collected by the retailer. The issue was that it was up to the customer to self-report and pay taxes on those purchases and the vast majority didn't and it was virtually impossible to enforce. This ruling closes a big loophole, in that regard.

It is funny to think about how much things have changed since the law was enacted 20 years ago. 20 Years ago physical media and dvd was riding a wave of unprecedented lucrativeness. Blockbusters and mom and pop rental stores were in nearly every town/city in America. Stores like Best Buy and Wal-Mart had countless square footage devoted to physical media and a person could actually go and explore through the aisles as they really were that diverse in the selections they carried.

The law when it was enacted was done so under the belief that online sales didn't pose a threat to brick & mortar retailers. This was during the pre-Amazon days and even outlets like ebay weren't quite universally known and utilized as they are now.

I remember this store close to where I lived in the 90's; it was called Media Play. Much like how Hastings used to be, only with tons and tons of new DVDs. The horror section was just incredible. It's where I discovered a lot of great films, and where I gained most of my initial knowledge about the genre. Like video stores, it's now just a thing of the past. We could talk about this all day, I know; but it's sorry that younger fans won't get to experience this particular pleasure. It's much more complex to browse and experience films nowadays. Not the same at all. And while Netflix will occasionally offer a good original title--Ritual being one of them--no streaming service will ever be able to replicate the experience of browsing racks and racks of movies.

Media Play is where a certain teenager spotted a VHS copy of "Midnight Cowboy", blind bought it, then got into his Plymouth Sundance, drove home and watched it on his $400 Sony VCR.

And it's still his favorite movie (and avatar) today.

Yep, they took away all the music, movies, and book stores. Now on the weekends I feel lost and confused. I have nowhere left to go.

Same here use to spend a lot of time in Blockbuster looking over titles. We had a store called Electric Avenue, they had a massive movie section. When I had spare money use to go in there and spend a long time browsing selections. Then throw on top of that the artwork films use to have. One of the things love about Scream and Shout there original and new artwork they put out for films. So much better than insert title now insert big head and done. We still have one rental store called Family Video always brings back memories browsing in there some.

Exactly.

I remember browsing the shelves at a Turtle Video when I was about six, back around 1989. Those stores went out of business by the time Blockbuster rose to prominence. I also remember walking out of Blockbuster and Hollywood Video with boxes full of two-dollar DVD's during store closure sales.

Eleven years ago, when I started collecting DVD's and blu-rays, I didn't foresee the trend toward streaming.

Thank goodness I'm a collector. Nothing beats having your own video store.

As far as Scream Factory, I watched The Ambulance last night. It was a fun watch, and I'd definitely recommend it, especially to Eric Roberts fans.

Can always, with very fond memories, recall browsing video stores on school holidays. Picking up the free monthly release magazine and flicking back and forth getting excited to see upcoming releases.
Going in with mates straight to the horror section and grabbing stuff based purely on front cover and pictures on the back.

But mostly going in with my dad who’s a huge movie fan and just wondering around being able to choose one for myself for the weekend and it could be almost anything (except porn, I’m talking when I was 7-10).

Bit gutted when I think about it I won’t be able to do that with my son. He’ll just have to rummage through his dad movie store instead lol.

If they have 7-8 like last month, they should start pretty early next week (bearing in mind there's at least 2 unannounced Shout Select titles as well). They'll want to get everything done by the 6th, as the 9th will be too late, they'll surely be on Amazon by then. And when you figure they'll also reveal the IFC horrors at the very end, I imagine they'd want to get the retro announcements done by the 5th. Unless they announce more than one a day that should mean they'll start this coming week. And I would think that the earlier they start, the bigger the line-up for October will be.

Then on top of this there's the potential for a post-October reveal on the 13th, and of course SDCC follows a week after. It's not at all unfeasible that this time next month we'll know 20-25 new additions to the line.

Does anyone know if arrow ships early than diabolik for arrow releases? Like which is better, directly from arrow or diabolik...

Yes October will have better titles than Texas Chainsaw Massacre 4 and Exorcist 2 despite i'm looking forward to Brain Dead, Seventh Sign, REC, The Evil and Scream for Help.

Ghost Stories does sound interesting and sounds like Amicus or Creepshow in aspects.

Well at SDCC they announce some titles for November/december/Jan and next year you know.

I'm predicting at the end of this month or next month they will announce Critters boxset, Tremors CE, Creepshow CE, Saturday The 14th, Beetlejuice, Fright Night 1 and 2, Stepfather trilogy boxset, The Blob etc. for october.

Have a feeling Shout/Scream will also get their hands on the likes of 1941, Blues Brothers and An American Werewolf in London.

Why don't you just add these predictions to your signature - that way you won't have to type the same titles over and over every time you post? Stave off carpal tunnel syndrome. Saturday the 14th is a new one, though - how did you come up with that one?

I don't think the poster is a real person, but instead a type of spam-bot that generates computerized responses based on key words from other posts. It picks up on titles, then floods several forums with the same spam-induced clutter. Has anyone had any direct correspondence with it? Does it answer questions directed at it?

I was disappointed to find Night of the Lepus (my copy at least) comes in an eco-case. I can't remember Scream doing this before, hopefully it isn't common practice going forward.
