Like the new artwork for Trick or Treat. Steelbooks of Halloween 2&3 don't really interest me due to having the box set. Do like the artwork on those to tho.

I'd be stunned if they only announced 3 'new' titles for October, not least since one of those is Wasp Woman. I think we can expect at least a couple more.

Damn you Scream!!! Shakes fist. I can resist Halloween II but III is one of my favorites if not my favorite. This will be my third copy of it. I have the original Scream CE, the German steel one with the lenticular front and now this. So far that's seven titles I have to get in October and I'm sure it's not done yet. ugh.

I know it's still early but I fear like you they might not have all that we think they have. It's possible or at the very least they might not be released for a long time so they have ammo for next year.
I have the original BD of Trick R Treat, and I also have the German BD of House on Haunted Hill. I always prefer the U.S. edition, but with House on Haunted Hill it's even better because it's a new scan. I will most likely upgrade both, as I like to support SF, and I like to own the films I like in the best possible editions. But I will agree that my mind is definitely not blown. I think we've hyped it up to the point where they cannot possible meet our expectations. As far as more steelbooks...I don't have any of them yet, as I own all the original versions. Will I upgrade as they offer new 4K scans of the films? Sadly, I probably will. But my jaw is not dropping, not at all.

These steelbooks kind of drive me crazy. I love the art, but hate the idea of heavy, metal cases that are easily scratched and dinged. The John Carpenter fan in me wants to buy them all for 'my collection', but it's ridiculous to think of them sitting in individual plastic bags on my shelf...

I mean there's a point where you have to say 'no'.

If the Halloween flicks are just two more 4K IP scans, I'll pass.

As for the Halloween steels, ugh, I dunno. I have the big 15 disc limited boxed set, and I had the collectors editions before that, and the Universal disc of II. Since they are 4k scans I can probably justify buying them yet again, but I won't be excited about it.
I honestly had no idea the slipcover was going for that much money! I'm literally starring at my copy (with slip) and I could smack myself for not selling it when I had a chance!

[Show spoiler] It was one of the first Blu Rays on the market complete with the mpeg-2 codec. It's a dated transfer to say the least. As it's been over 10 years since the film saw any kind of updated release this would have been right at home at Scream Factory and would have been an easy Day 1 buy for me as quite literally anything that they did for the release would have proven to be an improvement.

Now with that said it's getting its own UHD in September so it's an irrelevant point now, but still... I find it puzzling when people get upset over double dips from Scream Factory when they have more than proven that they can/will release just about everything they can get their hands on. I mean we're getting what like 16 titles between September and October? If this was the Vestron thread and folks were to complain about how the 1 title planned for the next 6 months was a double-dip I'd be a bit more understanding, but with Scream Factory these days they're pumping out between 4-5 films a month now. 4 to 5 titles, every... single... month. Who gives a shit if this month they didn't release 5 new never before seen on blu ray titles this month, next month they might just do that. They tend to have a pretty good formula most months with how they structure their releases so there is almost always something for everyone.

NOES Box Set, American Psycho, Childs Play 2/3, The Fly, Tremors, etc? I say bring them all on. I'll take them all right alongside "The Wasp Woman" which I'm sure you're thrilled for.

Anyone interested in TRT has no excuse for not owning a copy of the BD. Shout Factory doesn't have unlimited resources so stop celebrating when they regularly waste them on films that don't need a new release. It's just stupid.

SO far two of the announcements I'll pick up, House on Haunted Hill and Trick r Treat. Just ordered Raising Cain while its 14.99, and picked up a copy of the final cut of The Wicker Man today for $10.

Re: "wasting resources"
Scream Factory will disagree when they line their pockets with sales from this release, which they will. This will sell well for them. That's a good thing.

I have no problems with reissues with improved transfers or more extras, and I used to always try to upgrade, but lately it's getting ridiculous with all the reissues from various companies. I give up.

I've given up chasing that dragon for that 'best release', because even if you catch the dragon, a UHD or 8K may come later anyway so you'll end up chasing that dragon again. How many times have some of us purchased H2 and H3? I find the transfers in the box-set and Universal's standalone of H2 to be exceptional enough. You can always skip a reissue anyway and then check in again in 5 years for the 8K if you finally decide to upgrade.

I have a wishlist a mile long now, so money is prioritized to only stuff new to Blu from now on. I do hope these steelies sell well, though, to allow more releases like Eye of the Cat and You'll Like My Mother. Those are the titles that excite me.

More than House on Haunted Hill? House is the best annoucement for Halloween and Trick R Treat sounds great too, Halloween 2 and 3's new transfers should look great.

Yet why didn't they think of They Live and Prince of Darkness with 2K or 4K transfers before?

The Thing does not look great & the Warner titles were 2K IP scans provided by Warner. 4K IP scans aren't anything to get too excited about, the bump in quality is pretty negligible.
