There must've been other movies using that house as a backdrop, even if they were spoofs.

DC Cab filmed scenes in and around the Psycho house back in 1983, possibly right after Psycho II.

Just Google the history about the psycho home and you will know that's not the truth, as other stuff was shot on that house including a mini series and some movies as well, plus I believe the original home doesn't exist anymore , demolished in 1980, and what's up there today is just a replica

ah ha, here is a detail summary of the history

I feel like there's too much info that goes against his claims. It's not really a great selling point anyway. It was a cool thing to look into though.

This is a pretty cool page that provides a little more background on how the space was used:

http://www.thestudiotour.com/ush/bac...sychohouse.php

I looked up a few other features that have used "Psycho House, Backlot, Universal Studios - 100 Universal City Plaza, Universal City, California, USA" in some capacity on screen and here's what I found

Big Fat Liar (2002)
Modern Problems (1981)
Coming Soon (1982 Video)
Invitation of a Gunfighter (1963)

That was the ONLY selling point if I were ever to consider blind buying this. Now that I know DeFalco was full of shit I'm no longer interested, not even for seventeen bucks. Most of the reviews for the film pointed to a weak and generic slasher wannabe anyway and I just don't have the time to waste on that stuff. Besides, those $17 are better invested in real Blu-rays like The Church. They're not cheap but they're worth my time and money.

I agree with you 100%. I was never really interested in it, Psycho House/Backlot or not, because I already assumed it was a "weak and generic slasher wannabe" and even at that price point, it's still bargain bin crap that didn't need the upgrade (in my opinion).

I think that they're playing coy with the comment about only a few retro titles left for october. They never start off with the biggest announcements for the month so I feel that something big is coming...

Those 'few retro titles' are of far more interest to me, personally, than some 1990s or 2000s studio re-release.... I hope those few retro titles are very interesting....

True but those will be titles released in November & onwards. October is generally their biggest month of the year and we currently still have 3 weeks with no releases so there has to be more on the way this week.

I was under the impression that 'retro' was just Scream's blanket term for non-IFC/modern titles. I wouldn't discount further 90s/00s titles on that basis.

I think by retro they simply mean older movies, don't forget that the 90's is almost 30 years ago now !

Yeah this...they are stacked on the 9th so it would seem they would have titles for every week in October. I would assume bigger titles closer to Halloween.

The only films they have access to are the New line ones and I would fully expect to see collectors editions of Jason goes to hell & Jason X in the very near future !

Well. an unrated JGTH would be big in itself for many. Not sure what Jason X could add but want that too in a CE edition.

Campfire Tales (1997) would be a nice addition. Not sure if the rights are still the same though.

I'm all for 90s and 2000s releases. It's when I grew up, so I have a huge soft spot for them. Making me feel old, but unfortunately the 90s would definitely be considered more "retro" now. Just like growing up in the 90s, 70s was retro. I'd be very happy if they focused on more previously unreleased or OOP and hard to find releases.
