I could see them doing Collector's Edition for the Final Destination movies and Blade 1 & 2.

See now though you are feeding the hype machine. I understand it but we really dont know. Before people were saying October was the big deal now its SDCC. Its always the next big event. Im just saying im keeping my expectations in check, because no one knows for sure. I get about the just a movie and trailer thing but my main concern isn't bling its making sure the dvd only titles make it to the next format and dont get left behind. Especially the tv stuff which they dont seem all that interested in...not all was shot on video and can be upgraded. Scream should also be acting as preservers of horror based stuff while also making bucks on the double dips.

I hope they announce a Collector’s Edition of Poltergeist. It’s never got a SE on any format.

Indeed. I've learned my lesson in this regard, too. Last year, I was stoked for what SDCC might bring, and there was the "Hell Night" leak and so on. Then, I recall being fairly disappointed by the final outcome. Especially when "Hell Night" WASN'T announced. Fortunately, it was a short time later. Anyway, then this year, I've built up my own, personal wish list (and, it seems, it is just that; a wish list that neither A) elicits much excitement from other fans, or B) is realistically coming from Shout), and I've disappointed MYSELF repeatedly, lately. When their announcements didn't strike me as particularly exciting, after a lot of hype and build-up, I acted as though they let me down. When, in truth, I let myself down by assuming they have a lot of stuff that they don't.

Is it really realistic to think they could/would get "The Devils" when WB has actively suppressed it for years and won't even let Criterion have it?

Or that they could get "Dawn of the Dead" or "Martin" away from greedy Richard Rubenstein? (They have CONFIRMED they don't have "Dawn", so I'm betting the same goes for "Martin").

Other things, like "The Haunting of Julia", "Alligator", "The Hand", "Cruising", etc. don't even seem to draw as much enthusiasm from other fans as they do from me.

And I have been surprised as to how many fans here have been NOT that interested in say, 70s-80s, new-to-blu, long elusive titles, and are far more hopeful for many titles that are either double-dips of films already on blu, and/or films that are pretty recent. If nothing else, this forum is very enlightening as to what IS actually in demand, as opposed to what some people (like me) THINK would be. I remember that podcast where Nelson said that, for pretty much every movie, there is someone, somewhere who thinks it's the greatest, and would love to see it get the royal treatment. But, realistically, you CAN'T do that with every movie....especially if you'd sell six copies, LOL...

Here’s a theory... Scream/Shot have announced so many big-title Steelbook re-releases so they could afford paying Richard Rubinstein’s ransom for Martin and Dawn of the Dead. Yup, that’s what I’m going to tell myself.

I know Alligator (1980) has some fans at Scream Factory, so I'm ever-hopeful that it'll materialize one of these days.

Final Destination movies are pretty bad. The special features on the existing releases are more than enough.

I refer you to my previous post (except 4, I'll agree that one was atrocious):

I loved Part 2.... that highway crash in the beginning with the logging truck is truly iconic....

having said that I would not upgrade my existing blu ray because I doubt there would be any appreciable difference in PQ.....

Poltergeist is tricky. Maybe the reason Warner didn't pull out all the stops with it is nobody can or wants to discuss the film. Shout may run into the same issues. Best we can hope for is a new scan and more featurettes on hauntings.

I always keep my expectations higher for SDCC. I wasn't expecting anything massive on the October announcements, maybe one or 2 big titles, and they announced Creepshow, which is far from being jaw dropping but its a very requested title, double dip or not. Also House on Haunted Hill which is new to Blu. So far everything's going as I expected. If they only announce stuff like Dreamcatcher, The Cell, Urban Legend etc at SDCC, then I'll give up. But so far I think there's still hope.

What are the chances SF announces The Road Warrior as a possible Collector's Edition? Considering they released the first film under the Scream banner and they have the WB deal going. I think chances are good.
