Glad you enjoyed it but the reasons should be obvious---

regardless of whether the movie is good or not, the CGI effects are flat-out atrocious and ruined the movie (especially when it's a sequel to a movie that had good effects!)

It's a fun, very late 90's styled horror film, similar to most of the other horror films around this time. I also happen to enjoy this one quite a bit. It's silly and over the top in a lot of places, but you can't say it's not fun. Great soundtrack, too. And Julie Delpy... The German edition is very nice.

I don't speak for anyone else, but Elm Street is top priority to me. So much better could be done with the films on BD, this franchise deserves it and I know Scream Factory wants to be the ones to do it justice. And, no matter how bad people think Freddy's Nightmares is, it should be allowed an official release since most other 80's anthologies have made their way to DVD.

As for Friday the 13th, I hope it too will one day get a top notch release from Arrow or SF (At least give me the films on separate discs so I can use the original poster art as covers), lost footage be damned. The Tin is gone forever, any smart person would not pay those idiotic prices the secondary market are charging. And the crap release Paramount just threw out there is for the basic public, film collectors and fans want something awesome that could sit alongside that Halloween set and the Phantasm set. But this should be down the road, when some company has cracked into Paramount again.

Is an extended cut of Dream Child even remotely possible if Shout did pick up the Elm Street movies? I find it pretty dull, so I'd love to see more if it could change my opinion. I've heard stuff about cut footage so that'd be really exciting for me.

I'm not sure if the Dream Child footage was lost along with the Leatherface cut material. They still could use standard def inserts though. The extra footage probably won't change your mind, though I think it does enhance the nightmares gruesomeness.

If the Nightbreed material could be found I have a lot of hope that the same can/will be done for the various Nightmare materials. It made its way onto laserdisc so hopefully it can eventually make its way to Blu ray as well. After seeing the scenes it's hard to watch the regular version without them knowing what's missing.

Could it be possible, that they got the rights to some more interviews for it? Maybe Renee finally agreed to talk about it?

Could be.... Personally I'm hoping the delay means that they are working on an HD presentation of the extended cut. It's entirely possible that the delay has nothing to do with any of that though and could just be related to manufacturing issues which are being sorted.

Me too. I'd rather have the original cut in HD over interviews with Renee and Matt. But ideally, I'd prefer to have both.

Didn't really bother me at the time (maybe it was ok for the time's standards )
What I like about it is that it does a great job recapturing the dark humor of the original.

I know ill catch flack for asking this but can someone give me a break down on the controversy behind Poltergeist? Did Hooper and Spielberg not get along? All I seem to know is about the curse of that movie but thats not what people are talking about right?

In a nutshell, Tobe Hooper is the credited director, but there are conflicting reports saying Spielberg really directed it and Hooper did absolutely nothing.

Not exactly, the controversy is over who directed most of the film since several stars have stated Tobe did all or most of their scenes while I think Zelda Rubenstein said Speilberg did a lot of her scenes (fx heavy stuff I think, but she wasn't in most of the film). Right now it seems like Hooper directed most of it and Spielberg did second unit work and some other shots. A lot of this talk was exacerbated by Hooper's later problems.

Tobe did direct the film, period, Steven did some 2nd unit stuff along with SFX scenes, he was really close to this project, one of the few scrips he actually wrote, plus Steven has done 2nd unit stuff for his pals over the years, the following year he did some 2nd unit for DePalma's Scarface (1983) , also keep in mind two things: Steven has never taken credit for directing Poltergeist 1982), and a year later hired Tobe again to do Amazing Stories (1985), so there was no bad blood there.

Why would they announce anything today? Evidently they're done for October. Perhaps they will announce something on Friday but I expect it will be for November or later.

The final product certainly feels like a Spielberg movie. Hooper never did anything that felt like it.
