They both directed it, with Spielberg being far more hands on with the fantasy horror efx as shown. I can see the touch of both men on the film, but Mr. Spielberg has the bigger fingerprints.

If Critters gets a set. I always wondered if they did a whole video for Power Of The Night or just those few parts we see in the film. If a whole video was then maybe they can put it on as a feature.

I'm sure he will pass on and let someone else be in charge then we'll get BDs of Dawn, Martin and Night Flier.

He's probably training someone right now how to be every bit of a dick as he is. Or he could live to be 100. In any case, let's see what makes it out first: Dawn of the Dead or The Abyss

We just want a fully restored, full-length version. It deserves the same care and treatment that was given to Night for its Criterion release. I thought he might have the decency to finally license to honor Romero after his passing, but that didn't happen.
The site claims they're working on a sequel to Night Flier. SK did have a story that featured the same vampire, called Popsy. Popsy is very cinematic; it could easily work in the same universe. Night Flier came along at a time when DTV horror films still had a level of class. You could find a DTV horror film in those days and it could surprise you. Not saying they're not still out there (Hell House, Ltd was one), but I will say they are much rarer than they used to be.

"Sincere and honest?" What are you talking about? The guy owns film properties, yet he's expected to give them away for free because you want Dawn of the Dead in yet another version? If "sincere and honest" means someone giving away film rights for cheap just out of the goodness of his or her heart, I doubt that person exists within the film industry. The fact is the guy spent six million converting the film to 3D, and now no one cares about 3D anymore, at least in the states. It's also a fact that you can own the film in a real 4K presentation (I know, it's just the Argento cut), and several other Blu-rays are available. I would like to see Martin and the Night Flier come to Blu-ray, and I don't know what his asking price is or why he's not leasing the rights out, but when you own something, that's a privilege you have. You can do what you want with it.

I am always shocked by how little film rights owners get for genre films. It's amazing they even pick up the phone to hear offers. I wouldn't bother.

I appreciate your optimism but unless the next rightsholder doesn't like money we're in for the same nonsense.

Very true. And I know some people will lease rights for cheaper if they want to get the film out, but not a film like Dawn of the Dead, which is often considered one of the greatest horror films every made. It's a big film, and it has a big legacy. I'd love to see it come out from Criterion or Scream Factory (even though I own the very good-looking Italian 4K set), because you know they'd treat it right and honor the film with special interviews and commentaries. But no one is getting that sonofa***** for cheap, and I really don't blame him. It ranks alongside the Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, the Thing, Phantasm, American Werewolf in London, and other high caliber genre properties. The 3D thing sounds like a bust and a waste of money; no one cares about 2D converts to 3D, but like I said, he owns it and he can do whatever he wants with it.

Caught that. I'm referring to the Stephen King film. To clear up any confusion. Well, at least on my end. I'm not sure now if their information is right and the picture is wrong, or vice versa.

I posted this in the Brainscan thread, but I'll bring it up here for discussion: shouldn't this be enough for a CE? Looks like a great batch of features, with a lot of new stuff. Not surprised to see Furlong totally absent. Very glad to see Clinton talking about his score, which is fantastic.

Hm, didn't know Brainscan was written by Andrew Kevin Walker and had a score by George Clinton. I might check it out after all.
