The Well Go DVD set is still in print, so they likely still licensed it from Universal.

That would be great although I already have the region free Arrow UK version of the first film. In order for me to double dip on a SF of the first one it would have to be the full unrated of it.

So I read the link, the part where he makes up needing a ride just to spend time with her sounds very similar to the storyline from the film Wind Chill, right down to driving through snowy New England... good thing they didn't take any short cuts. If someone tried that today, I'm pretty sure that guy would be associated with a hashtag now for stalking.

Hopefully she is more open to licensing, although I'm sure most of it depends on her father's wishes and how much she wants to uphold them. I remember hearing that even if you wanted to screen the film at a theater that it's too cost prohibitive.

I can see that.

The stuff in the first half of the movie, the suburbanite family stuff, feels very Spielbergian, but the second half when the "horror" kicks in, does have that Hooper Lifeforce vibe.

Well, I guess that settles that. Or you could take it as some sort of weird Shout Factory hint...

Someone asked: ''What is something you would love to release but you know you cant''

Shout replied: ''DAWN OF THE DEAD (1978). We wish we could!!!''

In one of the movie groups I'm in on FB, it seems a lot of people are selling their DVD copies of Alone in the Dark. Maybe they know something I don't know, or maybe it's just wishful thinking that the film is going to drop today or at ComicCon next week. It has to be one of the most requested titles for Scream Factory. That and Deadly Friend. I'll take one of them or both of them, day one. I'd say the odds of one of them showing up are pretty good.

ALONE IN THE DARK (1982) is such an underrated/underseen film. I hope that it's eventual Blu-ray release brings it some more attention.

Not selling my copy until there's an official announcement but, yes, Alone In the Dark is a likely candidate. In fact, I'm almost sure of it. Only reason Shout won't release it is if Warner refused to license it for some reason. I think the Warner Archive excuse no longer holds water after this licensing deal. Why would Warner hold back select titles just so that they can release it themselves? I think one reason they agreed to license was to lessen the burden of a backlog of highly-requested titles. It makes sense to me.

Lol it was funny to me reading about alone in the dark being requested because I didn’t even know there was a film in the 80’s so I was thinking of the disastrous uwe boll film lol

Not to add to all the rampant baseless speculation, buuuuut... I've heard rumblings about both Alone in the Dark and Eyes of a Stranger from a reliable enough source that I am selling my DVDs of both.

Take from that, what you will.

Not falling into the trap this time. I'm expecting squat and double dips. If they surprise me so be it but tired of being kicked in the jewels for the few titles I want. In the immortal words of Tom Atkins "Thrill Me" or not but fool me twice shame on me.

Ah, a Night of the Creeps fan i see! classic quote from Atkins, the man!

I just got In The Mouth of Madness in the mail this morning, i can't wait later to check out this new BD for the extras and new remastering as it should be an improvement over my old DVD.
