I like those too. You have to add Pontypool, Triangle, Inside, and Trollhunter from the past 5 years or so off the top of my head, if you haven't seen them. V/H/S was also fantastic, though I can easily see why it might not appeal to some.

If you saw The Innkeepers, you've probably already seen House of the Devil.

Trollhunter was great! I want to see Inside but need to watch when the wife isn't around!

Considering that Criterion released Carrie years ago on Laserdisc, I would not be surprised that Shout/Scream is competing with them for a potential upgrade.

Trollhunter really was something special. Fantastic looking movie for that kind of budget.

As for Inside, definitely. It's totally the type of horror film that is easy to see why it would bother a woman. Probably a top 3 favorite for me though of the 2000's-present.

Considering Criterion hasn't had the rights to Carrie in like 20 years, I don't think they're really in competition with Scream Factory over this title at all...

Now if Scream Factory acquires it and releases it then I will have to face a dilemma as I wanted to get all their releases
I wouldnt hold your breath for it anytime soon...

Im sure that Shout would do a great job on it but MGM already has plans for it to coincide with the release of the remake...

Hey Cliff,

I apologize if this has already been asked, but any chance Cold Prey 2 will be getting a Blu release as well? Any chance Shout/ Scream will also bring part 3 to North American shores? And finally any chance of getting part 1 from Anchor Bay and releasing a trilogy, preferably on Bluray?

For those that haven't heard of this franchise, I highly recommend it. It is considered one of the best modern day slasher series, especially for those that are fans of the 80s era. The first movie takes place in an abandoned hotel in the snowy mountains, part 2 is a huge homage to Halloween 2 taking place in a hospital, and part takes place in the woods. Many have been waiting for the sequels to hit North America as they are next to impossible to find with proper english subs, especially the third one.

I can't wait to grab part 2 and hopefully part 3 on Blu or DVD, but Bluray would definitely be better!

I know the first one got a DVD release here, but that's it...not sure where the rights are with all of those, but they would be awesome (as would everything, and I will be buying everything you guys release!)
...Cliff answered with a smiley face at the time, which in my deluded mind I didn't take as a "no"...his answer above still isn't a solid "no", so I'll go on dreaming. Someone needs to release this trilogy ion Blu! (with English subs!)

Cliff-

Asking for a friend - Cronenberg's The Brood (1979). Yay or nay (obviously I'm not expecting a definitive answer, maybe just a smiley face)? Not sure if this is still with MGM in the States - the DVD has been OOP forever...

This has been rumored as a Criterion release (that doesn't mean it will be, or that Shout won't release it instead), but Second Sight will be releasing it on BD in the UK.

Yeah, but that Criterion rumor is about as old as the DVD itself (going on 10 years now)...

It's true. Scanners is getting a Criterion release. Not a problem with me especially considering they took on Godzilla.

The Brood for Shout! Factory I support greatly.

MGM, if I'm not mistaken. At least, they seem to have the broadcast rights.

Oh for chrissakes! I just finally caved on the arrow releases of Phenomena and Tenebrae. I mean JUST caved, as in they should be waiting for me at home TODAY. So you're welcome everyone!

I wonder if the two Argento titles, along with the two Demons films, completes the 'big bomb' news Don teased last month.

Counting Countess Dracula and Hands of the Ripper, that's seven titles for 2013, including Reel Zombies. They released six titles in 2012 and seven in 2011, so that sounds about right. You can probably add McBain to the 2013 lineup, for a grand total of eight.

Definitely still a win for horror fans to see another label as great as Scream Factory end up with these films. Thankfully, there in good hands.

I was going to eventually order the sweet looking steelbook of Demons 1 & 2 from Arrow...after reading that article they mentioned issues with the existing blu-ray transfers..were they really that bad? Does anyone on here own the Arrow release?

Thanks in advance!
