I'm sure those will be announced next week or next month! yes Critters 2 almost surpasses part 1.

Quite surprised that some on here feel that "Deadly Friend" is not a "big" enough title, it''s Wes Craven, 80s, new to blu ray. That alone make it a huge announcement for me, let alone the nostalgia and cheese many on here will have grown up watching. It's the "Space Camp" of horror and i for one will do a fist pump at my pc if it gets announced.

Wes Craven is gold around these parts and even if Deadly Friend were one of his worst films (it isn't) it'd still be considered a top release. My only fear is Warner not letting Shout license it for whatever reason.
Haha, i don't think you will be getting a "like" from a certain frequent poster on these pages.

Some people think Shout should only release movies they like. Some say their line up this year is crap, but then want truly horrible movies like Jason Goes to Hell to be released. which is fine but don’t be saying their lineup is trash when they want trash themselves.

Yeah i agree. I'm of the mindset of that there's so much coming out over different regions, that if a company (say scream in this instance) announces a few titles i'm not overly interested in, then i can maybe pick up a few titles that I've had to let pass by because of money constraints. A blessing in disguise in many ways.

Eh, one persons trash is anothers treasure. In horror opinions differ widely. Though not a great film Its guaranteed that JGTH would sell better than some other so called great titles if unrated. I dont think people want movies they only like but do want less double and triple dips. Hell Im buying a few double dips but its not all that exciting to me, just happen to love those films so feel like i should.

I just picked Xtro as well a few weeks back. That was a very well done release that folks should get while they can. I would have thought a US release of Xtro would have been one of the first announcements from Scream Factory so I'll be curious to see if it gets announced at Comic Con.

Did someone actually say that they don't want Deadly Friend released? I don't recall reading that. My original comment was simply that I didn't think it would be mainstream enough for the general population as a comic-con announcement given that shout in theory has access to several other more popular franchises right now that would generate more buzz at the convention. Personally I'd love Deadly Friend as an announcement but I just don't expect to see it any time soon.

Deadly Friend has it's fans and would love to see the other cut.

Who wants this underrated 1983 sci-fi gem on blu-ray? it never had a DVD release except in bootlegs and can use a BD release badly.

Especially when you look at past Comic Con announcements.

In some cases you have to pay for the use of someone's likeness on newly commissioned art. I'm guessing Scream is just playing safe, like they did with the CE of Death Becomes Her.

I still think 2014 had the best SDCC announcements. Higher profile non-CEs, great director representation w/ Carpenter, Hooper, Romero, & Gordon, some highly asked for other titles, and also Mad Max.

Deadly Friend would fit right in with another slate like that.

Honestly, I’m guessing, if there’s 10:
Bats
Carnosaur
Candyman
Deadly Friend
Dr. Giggles
Eyes of a Stranger
Fright Night
He Knows You’re Alone
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein
Saturday the 14th

They seem to be back off, again.

Does Absentia (2014) seem like it's ripe for a Scream release? Given Mike Flannagan's success, I'm surprised it hasn't made it to Blu-ray yet.

I don't mind either of those 2 actors but it sours me on them a bit if that's the case. They were happy enough to take the paycheck at the time.

I don't think anyone's really trying to block the release, at this point, but someone's putting in a little extra effort to diminish their association with this film. I think it's less a "them" issue and more of a "their talent agency" issue, personally.

I don't think so, either. They've never spoken any bad words about it and Renee has even talked about her friendships with McConaughey & Robert Jacks. The making-of doc also showed how much enthusiasm she had for the project.

Like zbinks said, I think it's more a matter of talent reps applying some pressure (like they did when Sony acquired the rights back in the nineties) or they may need more time to produce the disc. After all these years, an extra month is nothing.

Great movie, but it has an IFC vibe about it so I don't know if they'd be interested or not. As far as no Blu Ray release...

Region Free and well worth importing. I've had it for a few years now and it was one of my early recommendations in the "Recommend an Indie Horror film" thread.

On another topic, thinking about Jaw dropping announcements (or the lack there of)... I think I can honestly say that I'm still legitimately shocked that Scream Factory was never able to release a Collectors edition of The Fly and/or The Fly II over the last few years. Those seem like such obvious releases that it's baffling they've never been re-released outside of the first films initial offering from Fox way back when.

I’d love to see The Fly II. When was the last time SF did a deal with Fox? With the Disney takeover, who knows what the future holds at Fox.
