Also Scream factory promotes early shipping on pre-orders when ordering direct. I think the issue has more to do with that. They don't want competition doing it early as well.
Amazon ships just early enough to get it to me on release day. Provided of course I don't opt for the slow ship benefit.

A question to ask you guy's that get em on release day or before release day from Amazon? Is this a single item or maybe usually paired with another item? I ask because I always order multiple blus in an order. So usually have about 5 or more titles in an order.

Well, it did have a terrific 2-disc special edition release in the UK going back, albeit on DVD. Good quality and a truckload of great extras. But I'm amazed it still hasn't turned up on Blu. Given the beautiful photography by the great John Seale, this is one that would come up stunning in HD... I don't have my copy in front of me, but from memory I think Studio Canal put that SE out.

They come usually between 5 -8pm on release day. Both on their own or sometimes in a package with another order. Either way I usually have them on release day.

As I picked these up at SDCC today :

I asked the guy ringing me up if he would give me a hint on any of the announcements tomorrow. He said NO. , but he did tell me that they have so many new titles coming that they are having a hard time figuring out release schedules for next year.

Would love to see the animated series come to Blu-ray, too, but I don't know who those rights would be with.
I looked it up and the animated show was co-produced by HBO Animation and Todd McFarlane Entertainment. So either WB owns the show or McFarlane does.

Announce the more niche stuff to keep people happy for the front end of the year, with a couple "bigger" ones mixed in here and there. Save the stuff that will please a broader audience and bring in the most attention at comic con. So while something like thirteen ghosts might not be earth shattering, the majority of the comic con audience will know what it is. If it's something people might be less aware of, if it has a catchy character, or some other sort of grab it could work as well. Their goal would be to drum up the most interest leading to sales down the road.

We'll know soon enough!

Obviously, I'm not saying ALL of these will be announced, but I think the announcement will be pulled from these titles.

And, yes, I'm aware of rumors that Candyman and The Hitcher might not be with Sony and Warner, respectively, anymore. But I'd love to see them be announced if they are still in play.

Yes Scream should do that to cash in on the upcoming new movie.

This doesn't make him afraid of water overtly (of course not - he still goes in the water often, including in FvJ...and he's a "zombie" now anyway) but, in the dream world, heightens his fear (because that's what Freddy feeds on).

So I don't understand it when people question this element. If you have someone who's constantly trying to have sex be in a dream where Freddy plays up their sexual insecurities, I imagine very few would question that (with "But he's a ladies man! This makes no sense!"). To me this is essentially no different.

With The Hitcher, it's probably best that the rumours of HBO losing the rights are true, given that Scream might not have access to HBO titles via the Warner deal (after all, we've been told by Warner that it's up to HBO what they release). In this respect, the speculation that both The Hitcher and Near Dark have reverted to the same rights holder is intriguing. If Scream (or whoever) have one, it might well be that they have the other. Both would obviously be knock-out announcements this evening.

There are no worst F13 films IMO - I like them all. FvJ, OTOH, was like watching a Looney Tunes skit

The worst part of FvJ for me wasn't the cartoony CGI but the totally forgettable characters. I probably couldn't name them but I could remember about 95% of the cast of every original F13 film up until Jason Goes To Hell.

Same here they each are enjoyable even the ones on rating scale aren't that good. Always liked in Jason Goes to He'll how they showed the house he growled up in and the fact it has been abandoned since his Moms beheading.

Yes, they've made it known that they have MANY titles on the slate, going as far out as February, and probably even beyond that now. It seems they've been holding back anything truly special, releasing a good one "here and there" just to keep interest going. I think we all might be surprised at what's in store. Hoping, anyway.

I'd like HBO to lose Poolhall Junkies. Not the greatest movie in the world, but personally I really enjoyed it. Would be a cool release for Shout as well. Something different in the mix.

Rumour is they do have some Hammer. I can't see Warner licencing out Curse of Frankenstein and Horror of Dracula, but these might be possible:

Dracula AD 1972
Satanic Rites of Dracula
Crescendo
Hysteria
She
Moon Two Zero (seems unlikely)

I believe the relevant Warner Archive panel takes place a few hours before, so it will be interesting to see what they announce there. If the big Hammers are coming this fall, you'd think this would be the perfect occasion to announce them. It should also knock a couple of titles off the potential Scream list, Hammer or otherwise.

Similar to what I was talking about earlier - and it makes complete sense. I'm willing to bet they have a ton of great releases in the pipeline that people will be very excited about. Big name stuff, niche stuff, the works. They aren't going to blow it all in one announcement. They want to keep people engaged and interested for years to come. A little painful waiting, but there's no other smart way to do it.

That's why I figure tonight's announcements will have 1 box set (likely Critters). 2 "big" releases, which will probably be collectors editions of previously released movies (something like Beetlejuice for example) but big movies. 3 well known, more modern releases that either don't have a release or are OOP (thirteen ghosts, valentine, etc.), and 3 more niche/cult movies. 9 in total. That being said, figuring out what those 2 "big" releases are is really a shot in the dark because I bet they're sitting on a ton of potential re-releases made into collectors editions.

I'd love to see Dracula AD 1972 hit the format in some form. Don't care if it's WAC or Scream Factory.
