I can see it from the companies perspective. They will front the cost for shipping if you make the commitment to shop with them.

Why not just pre order a bunch of titles to get the free shipping? When i do my ordering from Shout they do one big charge on hold then once it falls off they charge you as each title ships. If you’re paying by PayPal that’s different but using a credit card it’s a pretty good deal i think.

That's not a terrible idea though I typically always use PayPal online unless it's not accepted so when I place an order I'm always charged full value up front. There are very few retailers where I have used my card(s) directly given the sheer volume of data leaks which occur on an ongoing basis. I like the extra layer of protection. I've also read more than a few reports of cards being charged more then once by Shout Factory and other annoyances which makes me pause a bit regarding handing over financial info.

I just sent them a message on Facebook asking what was going on, here's the response i got ....

I'm sure it was, since she was constantly high as well as trafficking cocaine at the time. She was also just the right (or wrong) age for child/teen actors in that stage of Hollywood, and I'm sure that period is full of details she'd rather not remember. That being said, those are the stories I want to hear...

Scream doesn't ship overseas, so amazon is my only option. In the past it was quite easy to get a valid Order together, but with such high pre-order prices I'll just have to wait after release date and hope for a more reasonable pricing to a later date...

I'm happy they replied. It doesn't really answer any questions but at least it acknowledges that they recognize folks are upset about this.

Okay, I'm starting to get worried.

If the prices don't go down I see myself buying a lot less Shout titles, and I don't want that to happen.

Whether or not they are"trying to punish other online retailers or fans" or not, I think they need to address the matter. People are going to act like they're being punished either way, but saying something could help.

I don't really have any issues or problems in general with SF and ordering from them, or even paying for shipping.

I do like options as far as pre-ordering, but it's not a major blow to me specifically.

A lot of people are pretty annoyed/pissed about though and I'm curious to see what is going on myself.

Good that they still do this. At least you’ll be able to dodge shipping charges that way. At their prices, you only need 2-3 titles to exceed $50.

This is what I do. I'll usually preorder a CE and a non-CE at the same time, which pushes it over $50. That's free shipping, and each title will ship individually. Plus I pay with Paypal.

This is an interesting answer. It seems that SF wants preorders to come solely from their store, hoping to lure people with posters and other swag.

They must think that Amazon is “too big” to deny preorders. I get that, but why shut out Walmart, Target, and Best Buy as well?

Scream Factory is one of the few labels where you don't have to worry about titles getting yanked off the market in the first year. It seems like ALL of their titles are readily available for 5+ years after release. I don't see a reason to kill yourself to get them day one. Just wait for a good sale down the road.

^this, exactly. Unless you're a slipcover freak or you collect the posters also, the SF releases definitely stay around. I think only 2 titles I own are OOP, Phantasm 2 & Terror Train.

I'm not sure if it helps, but I noticed (and utilized) they offered Pay through Amazon lately, which I've been using. Like other's have said I'll typically wait until there are a couple items I want and then preorder them together to save on shipping. The comic-con sale was great for me as I was able to order a dozen or so titles coming out in the next few months for prices that were similar (or even lower) than what amazon would have charged back when everything was hunky dory.

Although if this continues I have a feeling my procurement of Shout/Scream discs will be limited to sales two or three times a year like Criterion discs...

I cancelled all my August and September preorders from Amazon.

I'll place an order through their site...eventually.

I see sales plummeting for them.

It was more of a response than I was expecting but not sure what to make of it... They seem to be acknowledging that something is going on and that they are aware that people are concerned but at the same time they're not doing anything to address or resolve the situation.

Not sure I understand the issue either. Why bother with the likes of Wal-Mart and Best Buy online orders when we have Amazon? I've bought 97% of the CEs through them and have never had any qualms. Are people missing the release date by a day? Is that a big deal?

edit: Okay, I understand now. RotLDII is still sitting at $35. I guess I'll keep an eye on it, but since literally every title has dropped to $20-22 by release date I sortof stopped even thinking about it

Because without Walmart and Best Buy, you’re paying SRP at Amazon.
