I say millennials in a jokingly way, not all but a lot of younger kids have so much media indulgence they dont appreciate it as much

I recently got my order of Wild at Hart which on Amazon was Priced on Pre-order date: $28.98 and then was lowered at shipping: $17.24. Looking on SF they still have it listed at $24.99. I can understand the complaints of not being able to order from whatever discounted website you want too, but Amazon has always been discounted or Priced matched a product for me. Has this not been the case for others???
Wild at Heart has been up for preorder at other retailers (for example BB has it at $17.99 and Target has it at $14.49) which is why Amazon eventually lowered their price on it.

The problem is that the latest Scream Factory releases are only available for preorder from Amazon or Shout Factory directly (though other retailers will likely list them on release date). Since Amazon has no real competition they can charge what they want (usually MSRP). Unless they get listed at another retailer before Amazon ships it you will likely be charged the higher preorder price at release.

If you preordered Return of the Living Dead 2 CE let us know what Amazon charges you at release for it. I have a hunch it will be the price it is currently ($34.99). If you wait until after release though, when other retailers should be listing it at lower prices, you might get a lower price on Amazon.

Sorry not getting Return of the Living Dead 2, but I can say that I've sometimes gotten a refund on some orders 2 weeks after it already shipped to me. If Target were still in Canada I'm sure I could even get Amazon to refund me $2.75 (they still might)! The last 5 Shout titles I pre-ordered came to $149.61 and so far I've gotten a savings of $30.67, I'm still waiting on the 5th Blu savings to be announced. All 5 of these blurays have shipped in the last week and I might still get more savings if they keep going down, it's happened in the past usually under $2.00 but still I'm not complaining.

Here's a list of the films
Memoirs of an Invisible Man (1st to arrive)
In the Mouth of Madness (2nd to arrive)
Wild at Heart (3rd to arrive)
Someone's Watching Me! (coming Tuesday)
Piranha II: The Spawning (coming Wednesday)

I get the frustration of not being able to pre-order on other sites, but the fear of getting short changed from Amazon seems minimal compared to ordering direct from Shout themselves.

Please expand on this a bit more. I love hearing about young people enjoying and appreciating the art of film in an era where most people prefer streaming or watching movies on their phones. And to ThisKid: we need more young people like you on this Earth

Look, I'm not opposed to streaming. There's a LOT of disposable entertainment being produced today and some of it is OK to decent and if it weren't for Netflix I'd only be watching the same movies over and over. This isn't what I want. Netflix and other streaming services aren't evil - what I AM opposed to are the attempts by studios to force people into adopting streaming as the main content delivery system because they want to avoid the costs of production and physical distribution. That's poppycock. Products are being distributed in this country by the millions every day. You can't stream a bottle of shampoo or a 20 lb. bag of dog food, can you? Studios are already saving money by having discs "Made In Mexico" and now they want to eradicate that too? Come on. What needs to happen is we need to get film lovers back into decision-making positions into the studios. People who consider films an art form and not numbers on a spreadsheet. Until that happens we're stuck with companies like Paramount who only want to re-release the same HD scan of The Godfather that they haphazardly created 10 years ago (as an example).

Why, thank you! Although, I don't think the world's in shortage of Larry Davids.

Here, here! It also becomes problematic when the programs are only available on services in certain countries, thus for international viewers wishing to watch the program would have to pirate it. It forces a desperate measure for a inconvenient situation.

Again, another great idea. It seems the only true fans who are in these sort of jobs are the ones releasing the films to us in spruced up editions. We just need more risk taking in filmmaking. Part of me thinks we'd end up in a situation similar to the 1950's, where the big studios had to create new ideologies in order to keep the consumer. We'd just have to wait and see on that front...

Kind of disagree on that example. That HD scan of The Godfather gets reused so often because it's one of the key examples of how great blu-ray can be. It was all done in a 4K scan from the negatives, so it still looks great to this day. A better example would be Universal reusing the old blu-rays for The Mummy films when the first two got a 4K remaster on UHD. Or even worse, Fox reusing the Ultimate Hunter Edition for the "new" blu-rays of Predator, again with a 4K remaster available.

Can we be united on this message board by our love of film and physical media? Rather than relying on the old "You're too young to understand the nostalgia of film, millennials suck, blah blah blah" attacks from people who don't even know what a millennial is. It's becoming old hat and insulting.

nobody said that. In fact, the recent posts and comments that you have apparantly taken offense to... were very careful not to say that.

It may not have been said explicitly but it’s certainly the basic sentiment of some recent posters.

I'm 29 (turning 30 next year...yikes) and still regularly buy blu-rays, 4K UHDs and CDs.

I too don't care for streaming movies and music, to be blunt.

Amazon's pre order price guarantee, US or Canada, currently, only applies to changes made up to the release date, not after.

Currently, Amazon does not offer any price match guarantees to their customers, US or Canada.

None of the titles you've listed are titles that are not currently available at other retailers. The titles impacted are mostly titles that have mid-August, or later, release dates.

Yeah there's very few of us at around this age that buy and collect physical media. Everyone else around our age would rather watch films illegally or on Netflix.

Very True. I just turned 30 recently and my colleagues/friends think I'm nuts when they find out how many movies I've collected. I grew up with three much older siblings in a movie loving family, so I've been this way as long as I can remember.

Although they all seem fascinated by my vcr when they visit...

Well, I’m a film major, along with my classmates, so I don’t try to pretend that I’m normal for my age. I love pop culture, pop culture history, film, and film history. That’s just what I’m into, and collecting movies is my main hobby (along with working out). I love collecting physical discs because I know it will be mine forever as long as I take care of the disc. Plus my home’s DSL connection kinda sucks, and it’s a little difficult to enjoy a streamed movie. Plus the physical Blu-rays have the bonus features that I love (commentaries can be the best film school), and collector’s editions have the nice packaging. I love studying movies, and it’s hard to do that through streaming. I work on a lot of films/tv shows shot around here (mostly acting though), so maybe I just pay more attention to the art form than most my age...

Also, even when I was little, I loved collecting movies on VHS and (when I was older) DVD. We almost never rented. I wanted to own movies, mostly because I was the kind of kid that watched stuff over and over. I was also a master of the VCR. I was probably the only 8-year-old that could help with input settings and knew the difference between SP and EP recording mode (I taped a lot of stuff off of TV). I even hooked up my camcorder on my own, which used a receiver going into the VCR.

I have Netflix, Hulu (through my mom’s account), Prime, and FilmStruck, but they don’t have everything. If anything, they just replace cable TV and renting. I have DVDNetflix too, since almost every movie can be accessed through it if it’s on disc, but I find that I hold onto each movie for months before watching. *shrugs*

I did the same. And I suggest when everyone starts cancelling their pre-orders, select the reason as "found cheaper somewhere else", Even if it's not true. Amazon needs to learn to lower their prices.

Just turned 30 (that one hurt), and have been collecting physical media since I was around 7, starting with VHS. It's true that most in my age group have no interest in actually paying for films, music etc. In fact I don't know a single person (family, friends, coworkers) who even owns a Blu-ray player.

I don't know if I'm explaining this correctly but for a single title I usually get 2 discounted prices!
1. would be the Day of release marked down price.
2. would be within the first 2 weeks of release if the title goes down again.

I know the titles impacted are mostly titles that have mid-August, or later, release dates ( I have pre-orders for some of those) I'm sure whatever Best Buy, DeepDiscount‎ & Bull Moose have listed as the price when they put these title up on Day of Release Amazon will attempted to match the lower price.
You can always return the Amazon order if you find it cheaper somewhere else in the first week! Anytime I've gone to do this though Amazon has always refunded me the different in cost instead.

I've pre-ordered every single Vestron Release as well as a bunch of other titles over the last several years and have never once gotten a post release date/post shipping notice price adjustment. What I have gotten was a reminder e-mail from Amazon about how my pre-order price lock in saved me $XX.XX on that particular release.
