MBV would've been a good candidate for Kino Lorber or Olive to release, though I heard KL Insider mention a while back that one wasn't available despite an odd situation where Paramount did release it on DVD themselves in 2000-ish and later on licensed the BD rights to Lionsgate for a short time to coincide with the remake.

...because Amazon seems to be the only store, other that Shout! Factory's own website, that seems to be allowed to take preorders for Shout! Factory releases.

Its very odd, I much prefer dd as I use their monthly 15% off voucher. Plus DD packaging much better than amazon.

I wonder why its just those 2 titles? A Sony exclusive rights thing? bizarre.

The full RRP on amazon is not appealing to me atm.

It's not just those two titles, nor is it just Sony titles.

I did see the "Night of the Demons" steelbook on Amazon.ca last night. It was 'unavailable to purchase' and disappeared this morning.... But that usually means you can expect it to be available within a day or two. I believe "Creepshow" has the same release date, so hopefully it's not far behind.

A title I’d love for SF to get from a potential Paramount deal would be John Huston’s Phobia. Never had a DVD release.

I think Kino tried to get it in their deal with Paramount, but there are apparently clearance issues.

Are Phobia, The Rescue, Enemy Territory, and Terror on Tour still being held up by legal issues/music rights, or are we likely to see any of these with Kino in the future?
All are held up due to legal reasons except The Rescue, which is with Disney and can be released by them. We tried adding it to our current deal, but couldn't.

I wonder if Scream Factory could release Mermaid Chronicles Part 1: She Creature? I do believe it was released on dvd from Sony and also as part of one of those Mill Creek collections.

You make a good point. Disney can own every studio, and promote their streaming service until the end of time; but there will always be genre filmmakers, and as long as I'm alive there will always be an audience for them. Disney owning everything would actually be good for cinema, because people would want to break away. Independent cinema would rise from the ashes and start anew.

I would recommend getting the MGM DVD watch is very nice and it can still be had for a good rice. Amazon have it still new for $16.
At this point, I semi-dread hearing a title is coming from Synapse. They do incredible work--maybe the best of the boutique labels--but it just takes so long, after a while I kind of lose interest. That's how I am with the Kindred and McBain right now. If I heard Synapse had Prom Night II, I know it would be years before we ever saw a frame of it, if we ever saw it at all. Scream Factory, on the other hand, would have it out in a couple of months. In today's market, where everything is available with the click of a button, you have to be able to compete in that world. Consumers want to spend money to get what they want. And if you can't deliver, consumers will spend their money elsewhere and forget about you.

Found MBV used at a pawnshop for $3 once. It had 2 discs in the case. Didn't remember hearing it was a two disc disc set, but look closer and it's the same disc. So 2 copies of the same disc in a single case. Totally weird. Not sure how that happened. Oh well, I guess it's good to have an extra in case disc rot happens to one of them.

Getting really annoyed with Scream / Shout not letting other retailers and boutique labels do Pre-Orders in titles.

The current amazon price of Return of the Living Dead Part II is crazy.

Next time the BLU producers go on podcasts and drop info that certain titles don't sell well... then you have another reason why!

Sometimes if you push a title off because of availability (perhaps it is a blind buy option, curious of seeing it) they tend to go on a wish list and the longer I wait the more of a chance that I won't even buy it.

It’s going to be interesting to see if ROTLD2 and Brainscan really do go up for sale at other retailers tomorrow....

I have faith that the price will drop once it's officially released. How much of a drop? Well, I don't think some CEs will drop to $15 territory, but I doubt it'll still be $35 by the end of the week.

if I'm wrong? Nothing happens, we go to jail peacefully and quietly, we'll enjoy it! But if I'm right...

I know I'll be canceling my pre-orders if the prices don't drop. I'm really starting to sour on Shout.

Yeah, totally anti consumer. Hey, I can give them props for finally inspiring me to go region free to avoid as many of their releases as possible. Starting with Candyman. Hope they enjoy less sales and even less preorders pulling this crap. I cancelled all 10 preorders I had with them. I'll buy their releases used or from eBay sellers with decent prices. Less money I give them now the better. Was a big fan of them, but not anymore. If they keep it up, I'll never buy anything from them again and hope for their downfall as a company. So stupid. Trying to punish retail places, but ultimately punishing their customers for just wanting their releases at a decent price. No thanks.

What’s the reason they don’t allow anyone else except Amazon to take preorders? Was it because a few retailers shipped ahead of release date?

I've been scooping a lot of their discs second hand, which suits me just fine.

I hadn't realized this was a thing until today when I tried to get SCREAM FOR HELP.

Really disappointing to see such a big label resort to something so greedy.
