Just watched Creepshow for the first time and having watched Creepshow 2 a few years ago, I honestly thought the sequel was the much better of the two.

I sort of agree. The Raft is is easily my favorite segment from either film.

Can someone sell me on Valentine? I used to dislike the late 90s to 00s slashers, but have been finding a soft spot in my heart for them.

I hate how everyone groups their hate of CW horror into all 90's horror. There is an insane amount of great horror in the 90's. CW horror is a totally different animal. This is definitely CW horror, but it's actually really good.

Nice kills, and the killer looks cool and is very effective.

I grew up in the 90s/00s, so I definitely have a soft spot for horror from this time. At the same time I have a huge appreciation for older horror movies and what they brought to the table. Similar to what Kraven said (although I'm not sure what CW is), but I don't think everything can just be lumped into a decade. There are great horror movies (or movies in general) from every decade. Personally, I thought Valentine was one of the better ones. Definitely entertaining.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is the closet to an 80's-style slasher film as any other 90's horror film will ever get. If it weren't because all the actors are under 5'4" (except for the villain, I think), pale and skinny the film could easily pass for an 80's movie lol. I don't remember much about Valentine but Urban Legend is my second-favorite 90's slasher flick. The Scream films are in the same category but they feel like they should be grouped separately for some reason.

What's a CW horror?

I disagree, IKWYDLS has the post Scream "slasher trying to be witty" vibe that doesn't resonate with 80's slashers at all. I can see the 80's slashers a lot more in Valentine.

The CW is a channel. Has shows like Flash, and Arrow. Back in the day it was the WB and UPN.

Kevin Williamson wrote Scream and I know...and Dawson's Creek. So CW horror is all those horror movies from that boom that starred actors from the CW(WB/UPN) trying to be scream, and I know...

It's the way I've always referred to the movies people are actually crapping on when they lump all 90's horror together.

I think you have your post-Scream slashers mixed up. There's nothing witty in IKWYDLS lol. It's a straight-up slasher without winks or nods.

I think H20, The Faculty, Cherry Falls, and Urban Legend have more of that "witty" Scream vibe than IKWYDLS does. I feel like Summer has a very melodramatic/serious tone throughout. None of the characters really try to be funny (aside from maybe the Jodi Foster/Angela Lansbury bit?), and the killer is one of the most brutal/creepy of the lot. I know it is lumped up with them all because of Kevin/the star cast, but I think it's different in tone. The sequel is far more focused on comedy elements.

Funhouse with remastering be nice.

I hope Valentine has the uncut version with the stuff that was butchered out from the film and restored in. We all want to see the footage.

They need to start using the classic artwork on their steelbooks. So far most of the steels have had garbage art commissions.

I didn't say it was witty, I said it tried to be.

Julie - Hey Ray you don't really believe all that crap do you?

Ray - That's true.

Julie - Please, it's really a phallic symbol.

Ray - Oh really?

Julie - Yeah ultimatly castrated. God I'm gonna miss you.

Ray - You don't have to, you can always ditch this Boston thing and come to New York with me.

Julie - Yeah well we can't all sit in the village coffee house and ramble esoterically on our laptops. There just isn't enough room.

Ray - See, no one gets me the way you do.

Julie - I understand your pain.

Ray - Precisely.

Julie - I hate this. I really hate this. You're gonna go off and fall for some head shaving-black wearing-tattoo covered-body peircing philosophy student.

Ray - That sounds attractive.

Julie - And I'll never see you again.

Ray - Hey, did you know the success rate of high school sweetheart relationships is higher than any other type of relationship?

Julie - Yeah? Name your source.
Teenagers only started to talk like that in films after Scream and Dawson's Creek, in other words, because of Kevin Williamson. That was not the teen exchange in slashers from the 80's.
