It's funny how we were worried that Scream/Shout was having trouble getting new licenses and rejoiced when they acquired some big titles/libraries. Now with lack of QC and price fixing, they are really biting the hand that feeds.

It's nice to see people rallying around this cause (i.e., calling out Shout/Scream on their BS) as a matter of principle and common sense. I can see that we're all film buffs and collectors, and we should be able to expect quality products free of technical defects (especially considering the exorbitant prices that Shout/Scream charges), and we deserve a good customer experience (no more shipping delays/damaged items in the mall, or seller restrictions that force us to buy their discs at inflated prices).

Sucks. I don't mind mind paying a little extra if the quality control is up there, but there have been issues there.

I'm not going to lie as I'm really interested in the Street Fighter trilogy release, but only if they include the Japanese audio. If it doesn't, then Shout is really starting to become useless.

If this thread is any indication, then the villagers are marching towards the castle with torches in hand.

I may not be spending as much money with Scream Factory in 2019, but that's mainly because they seem to be shifting focus from the essential 1980s stuff that I've absolutely got to have to 1990s/2000s fare like Valentine and Poison Ivy that are merely fun asides for me. As long as they release stuff on my wishlist, though, I'll continue to do business directly with their site.

Lately, it seems to me that the golden egg of Shout Factory/Scream Factory lies with the older movies, like The Mole People, The Curse of the Cat People, and The Blue Dahlia.
If they keep that up, then I'm still a customer.

Scream Factory is confirmed to still be strong arming small shops and price fixing.

He has to mark up all the Scream titles on his website. He says his in-store (Tampa, FL) prices can still be his normal pricing.

Get the pitchforks ready.

They guy makes a great point. SF is charging $30 for Get Shorty, which you can get on Blu-ray right now for less than $5. It's ridiculous. I've totally reevaluated my purchases from Scream Factory. They're just too high. You can get Criterion Blu-ray for $20 several times a year, and almost all the time on Amazon. They need to get with it, but it seems like they are going to keep doing whatever they want.

And they can't even put out product with their "two weeks early!" guarantee or without the discs being scratched to shit or the posters being hopelessly mangled in the tubes. If you're gonna charge an exorbitant fee for a handful of fluffy featurettes, a slipcover and a poster, at least give us some quality control! They even fudged up the previous Blu extras for City Slickers by giving them that awful "stuttering" effect.

I honestly only order direct from Shout for the posters (and if I have some Paypal funds to drive down the overall price and I can get over the free shipping threshold), and I've been lucky enough to not get any mangled ones to date. They need to stop re-issuing movies that have already been released in perfectly-good Blus (for less than $10) and give us more genuine exclusives.

Same here. This is the first time since I can remember that I have zero Scream pre-orders. I bought Arrow's Candyman, and I'll get the german TCM - Next Generation. I also opted to pick up Arrow's versions of the recent Film Noir titles Shout has come out with.

For anyone that has been on the fence about going region free, now might be the time. The cost of a player will easily be made up in no time if you continue to pay current Scream Factory prices.
