Fair enough, I definitely don't know much about buying in Canada.
But I just saw a post which I think kinda proves the point I was making -- if you stick to Shout threads, you'll only know about Shout deals, but if you look around at other threads, you will hear about other deals. Here is a creative solution to get good pricing in Canada on Black Friday (but the principle would apply at any time): https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=1291 |

This is an industry wide issue, outside of big studio, new release, tentpole films.
![]() When you close disc replication plants and have to outsource all that work, especially during Q4 when orders are vastly increased, there are going to be delays. |

So I can't really be mad at FYE; this is all on me and my inability to walk away from good movies when they're in front of me, rather than just buying online. But I got to FYE last night, asked for my stack that they had been accumulating for me and asked to make sure that they were discounted at the same price as online. I kinda thought it was a no-brainer, honestly. That's a big fat NO.
Picked up Trick 'R Treat, Candyman, Urban Legend, Creepshow, and The Thing steelbook. (I'm real behind on my Scream titles: I left House/Haunted Hill and Sleepwalkers for next week.) Online site qouted 30% Off when you buy three or more. So I went on my phone and saw a couple of these were gone online, so I was stuck with retail. But then I renewed my membership, which gave me 10 off. And I get 20% off next week for my birthday. I'm still pretty pissed, but this is what we go through as collector's, I suppose... |

I don't know why shout Factory didn't/hasn't just delayed all of their releases by one month at this point. If titles arrive early then they could still ship early, but rather than have to send out e-mails about the delay for every single release they could just address the matter up front and claim everything has been pushed back 4 weeks but will be sent as soon as it is available, meaning some may get theirs before that delayed date. Everyone would complain, but at least everyone would complain at the same time meaning it wouldn't be this lingering issue that is brought up every week. |

When there’s a traffic jam on the disc lane, it will hold up the release date. I’m guessing most studios don’t know if there will be delays when they announce their target street dates. So when said traffic jam occurs we encounter what is going on now, which are widespread delays. |

That’s interesting. I'm Curious as to what will be in the set since many of his films were distributed by Miramax, which Lionsgate have NA rights to. Perhaps Shout worked with LG for a one off (If any Miramax films are included) or Rodriguez himself owns most of his films.

it could include the 2-disc Grindhouse set and the single film version of Planet Terror.

I find it hard to believe this is going to be a 20-disc set, especially for just $130 (think of how much they charge for a 4-5 disc set). And if they have the likes of The Faculty and Dusk Till Dawn exclusively in this set, people are going to be pretty pissed (I realize they might be limited to the terms of the licencing agreement in this regard, but try explaining that to the base). Still, I'm interested to see exactly what it comprises.
In any case, a possible deal with Miramax would of course be exciting. Last edited by BarnDoor; 12-02-2018 at 12:00 AM. |
