Well, not really. Your main point (your words) was that it wouldn't cost Shout! anything to check on legal matters as they related to Universal Studios and their intellectual property. Which is completely wrong, sorry. You think lawyers work for free? Stop spouting off (wrong) opinions as legal fact. Please.

Anyway, how about unveiling that new Howling key art, Cliff?

Hi Cliff,
quick question,
I am very interested in Joshua Tree but am reading conflicting reviews online. Is this the uncut version with the violence intact just like the Artisan disc or is it the r-rated version? One review says that it has both cuts but another says it is just one cut. Can you confirm some of this for me? I am very excited for this release as I never bought the Artisan disc, I refuse to buy a pan and scan dvd of a scope movie. Any clarification would be great!

Also, I noticed that there is a western 4 pack coming out. Will those films be OAR and widescreen if applicable?

Thanks again,
I have pre-ordered a few of your 2/19 releases and CAN'T wait for them to come! Keep up the great work. Shout/Scream is by far doing some of the best work out there! You've made many catalogue film lovers such as myself very happy. Looking forward to hearing more about that aformented sci-fi box set. Can't wait to see what is on it. Here's hoping that you have continued success and work with MGM to get a second batch of movies from the want lists we've been throwing your way

Same here! I've been checking amz.ca like 3 times a day, and now I'm going to have to start checking for the Race with the Devil/Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry blu too!

If they have a copyright lawyer on staff and pay him or her a regular salary, then wouldn't jaws3dfan be correct to that it would cost them nothing to decide to see if the ban is expired? (i.e. checking into the ban vs. not checking into the ban would involve no difference in their expenditures) I don't know much about legal matters, so it's possible that checking would involve some additional money spent beyond the regular salary. But "you think lawyers work for free?" is not a valid argument unless they are paying the lawyer on a case-by-case basis, because jaws3dfan's point was whether money would be a disincentive for them to look into the ban.

You've clearly never had to deal with staff attorneys - you should be thankful for that! Trust me, nothing's free in business. Time is money. Period. Even for salaried employees, believe it or not.

Now, can we get back to talking about horror movies, please?

Awesome to hear that Shout is releasing their Race with the Devil/ Dirty Mary Crazy Larry double feature on Bluray! Race with the Devil is a great movie! I haven't seen Dirty Mary yet though, even though I picked up the double feature on DVD when it was first released. I have heard good things though.

More importantly, does this mean there is a chance for some of their other DVD double features to hit Bluray?

I would love to see,

Bad Dreams / Visiting Hours - Killer Double Feature

A bit if a different beast being Corman titles, but what a surprise it would be to hear these announced to Blu!

The Evil / Twice Dead - Roger Corman's Cult Classics Double Feature
Up from the Depths / Demon of Paradise - Roger Corman's Cult Classics Double Feature
The Terror Within / Dead Space - Roger Corman's Cult Classics Double Feature
Grand Theft Auto / Eat My Dust - Roger Corman's Cult Classics Double Feature

Yeah, as I said I don't have any experience in this area--I was just saying that the argument you had given earlier didn't really explain why you thought jaws3dfan was wrong, but assuming the above is true and they'd have to pay their staff attorney extra to check into the ban, that would explain it.

It might be selfish of me but i agree with this.i hope sf next wave of titles is more of the same, major us titles and cult gems packed with extras.
i also hope that SF and Arrow dont have too many "doubles" with each other.

"Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry" is the better of the two if you ask me. I love watching it. I got the double feature set from Shout! as well, I don't know if I'm going to upgrade though. I'm pretty satisfied with the presentation of both films. Only way I will double dip is if the A/V is significantly better and there's new extra content.

Apparently Beetlejuice set is Amazon.com exclusive. Guess us Canadians have to pay $30 for shipping and duty if we want it. Hopefully this is only a timed exclusive or Amazon. ca gets as well.

I'm pretty sure that VICE SQUAD belongs to Studio+Canal. It was they who licensed the movie to Anchor Bay for the old DVD. MGM has video rights to a handful of films from the Avco Embassy catalog, but most of the Avco titles are controlled by Studio+Canal. Lions Gate has a distribution agreement with Studio+Canal, so it's possible they could release it.

One of the finest horror films of the decade - I'd love to see TT release this, with both cuts.
