Definitely looking forward to the Craft. Just waiting for it to hit amazon.ca. Still waiting on Valentine as well.

For some reason when I saw "The Return of the Vampire" above, I saw Shadow of the Vampire and thought I missed something huge. Only had one sip of my coffee. It's too early.

Despite my ongoing gripes with Shout!, I'm happy to have SNDN 2 on blu-ray now.

Now ship Chainsaw 4, dammit!

Oh hey! So did mine.

Didn't get an email, but it says "shipped" on their website right after I read your post.

EDIT: Saw that I got a shipping email an hour ago. Well played, Shout!.

Well, my last pre-order from Shout that I had holding has now been canceled - Starman. I buy everything John Carpenter, but it comes out Tuesday, and the price never dropped. I could not justify $29.99 for the movie. Arghhh, this is a broken record that will never get fixed! Unless they change (which I doubt), it's going to be hard to buy anything from them anymore. We'll it was good while it lasted.

Yep, just cancelled mine as well. Shout can f*** off with these exuberant prices. I’ve just been buying the ones I want when they hit ebay at a normal price ($18-$22). If Shout would price their releases appropriately then that money could go to them. Instead it all goes to a third party seller. For any others that are canceling their Amazon orders, make sure to select PRICE TOO HIGH as the reason.

So far, that makes Candyman, Starman, The Craft, and Trick ‘r Treat I’m not purchasing because of the price hikes.

Can anyone shed some light on texas chainsaw next generation... what's the difference between theatrical cut and director's cut? Is more scenes? Or just continuation of scenes already in the movie... basically wondering is it worth it?

I made a video comparing both versions but unfortunately Sony made Youtube block the video almost everywhere. If you're in Canada, Brazil, Japan, Argentina or you have a VPN that can change your IP location to one of those places, you'll be able to see it.

I ordered Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2.
Against my better judgment, but it looks like good trashy fun.

I also grabbed The Phantom of the Opera (1989) for $15 and change from Walmart.

After watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Next Generation, I gotta say: this thing is a piece of crap. I thought time might be kind to it, but it's not. Generally a crappy film all around. I see what the director was trying to do with the Illuminati tie-in, the hidden subtext thing, but it doesn't work. Admirable try, but poor execution. But still, better than the new one, Leatherface.

I love the first two Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, but am struggling to find the excitement to buy the third and fourth films. I saw them a long time back, and don't remember much about them, so that's not a great sign.

At some point, I'll probably grab the 2003 remake, since it's a solid bit of nastiness. The 2006 prequel-to-remake is also decently engaging, with plenty of fun destruction.

I still haven't seen the two most recent franchise entries.

I actually didn't mind TCM:TNG when I saw it on Showtime a few months ago. It's a very stupid film, but it wasn't as outright awful as I expected. Most of the acting was terrible except for Renee Zellwegger and Matthew McC, and the story (what little it didn't copy from the first film) made little sense, but I liked the first half a lot, and the film had decent atmosphere.

My enjoyment of TCM:TNG has grown over the last decade thanks largely to Matthew McConaughey's over the top performance and how funny it is (to me) to see him in this role considering the type of actor he's become and the roles he chooses now. TCM:TNG is not a good film by any means, but the surreal nature of the film and the fact that I'm a completest has me planning to pick this up whenever it finally dips to a reasonable price.

This means nothing but given the current licensing agreements still worth mentioning. In the Newest issue of Horror Hound Magazine there is a Gremlins "Horror's Hallowed Grounds" feature. Seeing as how I expect this to be a Scream Factory release in 2019 it's safe to say that this will likely me a feature if this collectors edition materializes.

On another note, I watched both Gremlins and Gremlins 2 over the last few weeks with my 5 year old daughter. It was her first time seeing both films and my first time in probably 3-4 years. Both seem to get funnier and more enjoyable the older I get. I appreciate both for very different reasons so it's hard to pick one over the other, but if I had to say which one I'm likely to revisit more often, it's probably going to be Gremlins 2. Both films are primed for a new UHD release or comprehensive collectors editions and it's another series where I'd like to see a new sequel.

What did your daughter think of the films ?? I've been trying to figure out when to show these to my two boys but it's been a long time since I've watched them. I think they're scarier than I remember them being.

My almost-five-year old daughters would be too scared to watch Gremlins; I barely got them through ET (which they did end up liking). But I remember showing my son Gremlins when he was around five or six, and he loved it.

My daughter really liked the first film. The second film ran a bit too long and so she was up doing other things by the time the big musical number came on but I kept calling her over to watch scenes so she could see how things wrapped up. I think she liked both films. I don't know that she loved them, but she wasn't scared at all and paid attention for the most part.

She's always kind of liked Scary things. I've tried not to overdue it too much but given my passion for horror movies and scary things it appears to have rubbed off on her. We've watched bits and pieces of quite a few scary shows/films. The tv series "A Haunting" she really liked. We did a marathon of episodes but that ended up backfiring a little bit as some of those episodes get really creepy and after watching several one day she ended up having nightmares that night so we've cooled on that series for now. She's watched Critters and Critters 2 though, Gremlins and Gremlins 2, watched Ghostbusters, Jim Henson's Labyrinth and a handful of other 80's kid friendly stuff. I'm trying to mirror what I saw when I was young so she can enjoy this stuff around the same time frame that I saw it. It's been fun. She's quite eager to watch Child's Play "Chucky" and some of the other stuff I have since I've talked about it quite a bit after ordering a prop replica doll from Trick or Treat studios, but I've told her she isn't old enough for those yet. We tried Ernest Scared stupid a year or so ago but that one surprisingly creeped her out a bit too much so we had to turn it off. She likes the Look Who's talking's, Home Alones, Matilda's etc. Anything with little kids for the most part, so I mix in a fantasy/scary film every now and then.
