And I don't think Shout is interested in releasing a public domain title like NOTLD.

That's a shame. If SF or Criterion restored it and produced some new special features, it would sell like crazy.

The problem is that anyone could then use their transfer. It's why nearly all of the current NotLD blu-rays feature the cropped Dimension transfer.

I'm not sure that is accurate. Criterion restored Charade and I'm pretty sure all of the Public Domain DVDs out there are cropped and generally look like ass.

Pre-ordered "Prison" as a blind-buy. It has to be pretty good considering it got Renny the job for 'Nightmare on Elm St. 4.' Just don't know enough about that double feature release though.

These releases are very cool, I'm gonna try and collect as many of the "Collector's editions" as I can long as they're movies I love or would probably like. I've only passed up "Terror Train" so far because it wasn't all that memorable for me. I might pass up "Lifeforce" too, just never seen it and the trailer didn't tell me much besides there's a nude chick in many scenes haha.

This has been discussed before. The film is in public domain, so anyone can make and release their own transfer.

BUT... each transfer can be copyrighted so you can't sell someone else's work.

I really wish Shout had gotten the rights to the 1990 Night remake... because I always hoped someone with the rights to that would have bundled with a original Night Blu-ray + extras. That would sell like hotcakes.

An uncut proper aspect ratio original Night would sell like hotcakes. On any forum you go to there is a high demand for this and since every other release worldwide is either cut or inproperly framed you would get everyone with a region free player picking it up around the world, plus everyone in North America. Why someone hasn't capitalized on this is beyond me. I would love Criterion to take it on! The problem is everyone shies away because its public domain or they look at DVD sales and feel that it wouldn't be worth it even though that is completely different. On DVD people would just buy the cheapest release and be happy they have it on DVD. Bluray fans though want the best release possible so if a company could finally deliver a proper release everyone would eat it up! There's still hope though. If Criterion can release Charade and Carnival of Souls among others hopefully they wise up and tackle Night! I would love Scream to release it as well but Cliff has already stated he feels it wouldn't be worth it and it being in black and white may be a little too old for ther target market sadly.

My problem is that it wouldnt contain the DVD features found in the Elite version and instead of replacing a DVD of NOTLD with a Blu Ray , it would be an add on...this is tough when you have limited space

Horror fans, I need your help in order to find an old movie. This is all I remember:

The movie is probably from the 80s, or very early 90s. It's about this young guy who is bullied by his peers. He wakes up from a nightmare and finds a bunch of eyeballs under his sheets. Someone has put them there to play a joke.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I am very excited for this release as I never bought the Artisan disc, I refuse to buy a pan and scan dvd of a scope movie. Any clarification would be great!

I didn't see anyone else reply. I have my review copy in front of me. There is only the one version and it's 101 mins long. According to IMDB, that does make it the cut version, as there is apparently one that is 106 long. Despite that, it's still a fun movie that's worth your time.

PRISON and THE NEST look lovely on Blu-ray, esp. the latter. Most of the film takes place in broad daylight so naturally those are the scenes that stand out the most. Glad to have added both to my collection (and thrilled to actually see films that have been talked about to death for months finally materialize :-)). We're just gettin' started!

Watched Prison last night. It was a pretty good film, though the ending was a bit anti-climatic for me (though it was after 2AM by that time, so I might've just been too tired to realize what was happening ). The video looked great and the audio was nice as well. Haven't gotten into the documentary yet, but if it's anything like the H2/H3 documentaries, then I'm excited.

I was caught off-guard by something Irwin Yablans said during his interview on the Prison disc. He said New World Pictures purchased Empire when they went out of business. This is the first time I've heard this - could Yablans be mistaken? I don't think I've ever seen an Empire film released thru New World but at the same time I don't think I've seen every film Empire produced so it's entirely possible. Is there where Shout got Knightriders and Day of the Dead from?

If there's lots of squibs in the garage shootout and a 3 angle shot of the bullet to the head then it is alright

Shout has said they have not gotten rights to this series several times. There is supposed to a couple of volume sets coming out through Amazon Createspace but I have had these preordered since they were announced in September with no new info since then.

Damn that's disappointing as the DVD was the uncut version. Maybe they couldn't find a good quality print of the uncut version? If so, it should have been included as an extra or something in standard def. First the Jackie Chan double features and now this, hopefully the Bruce Lee titles don't disappoint!
