With 3 from hell coming out this year it's as close as you can get to guaranteeing a re-release and hopefully a nice box set with all movies so i highly doubt scream or anyone else is getting them anytime in the near future.

aren't the rights owned lionsgate for both of those? I wouldn't expect a reissue.

Is it too early to assume that these Studiocanal pickups won't have extras? There hasn't been any mention of extras in any of the announcements thus far. I'm hoping these are just preliminary announcements with "more to come" as we get closer to the release dates.

It's fantastic. Sherman's best, and this is coming from a big Dead and Buried fan.

This is one that could almost fit with both Scream and Shout Select due to how maniacal the villain Ramrod is. Guessing it'll end up on the Select line, though.

Either way, fantastic news!

Superstition, The Manitou and The Brain all had the standard "Extras are in progress and will be announced on a later date." in their Facebook announcements so expect something in terms of Special Features even if it's only a commentary or a gallery and trailers.

I never did see Vice Squad as a whole. Just clips of it on the documentary film Terror In The Aisles.

They rip off Texas chainsaw and scream have no problem releasing those movies.

As stated, the titles are distributed by Lionsgate. Scream will not get ahold of them.

That being said... Lionsgate is pretty good about not missing marketing opportunities, so we'll probably see re-issues of the films (at least) this year.

Would rather have 5 and 6, because 4 is just a shitty version of the first film. Sure it's more faithful to the novel, but Joe Dante's film is just better in every way.... but the completist in me would cave for a legit copy of 4. There is not enough completism in my body to ever want Howling 7: The attack of the constant line dancing.

Per Scream Factory just now on Facebook.... Tarantula has been delayed from 3/19 to 4/30. Extras and Specs to be revealed next month.

The Texas Chainsaw massacre sequels (up to the reboot) are what I refer to as "Fun" horror movies. The tone is fairly light by horror standards and while there may be blood/guts/gore in many of their films, they aren't exactly "heavy" films in terms of emotional impact. They are the horror equivalent to a Summer popcorn flick in my mind. House of 1000 corpses is goofy enough at times that I could see Scream Factory at least considering that film, but The Devils Rejects, like Last House on the Left, and so many other films that are a bit more melancholy just don't really seem to fit the Scream Factory vibe to me. If anything, I could see Arrow re-releasing the films if licenses were granted over Scream Factory. Not that Scream Factory is needing licenses at the moment, but I could see the Hatchet Series and all the films of Adam Greene being much more up their alley than say the works of Rob Zombie if they were ever available.

Here's a handful of films that I don't believe Scream Factory would touch even if they could...

-Last House on the Left
-I Spit on Your Grave Franchise
-Inside
-Martyrs
-The Entity
-The Devil's Rejects
-Lords of Salem
-Irreversible
-Anything Naziploitation
-Anything from the Cannibal subgenre beyond the Green Inferno where the film is classified as a cannibal film (Cannibalism in a scene here or there likely isn't going to stop them, but Cannibal subgenre films are much more than just that.)

And so on and so fourth... I just think that Scream Factory has pretty clear lines they've drawn as far as what they are willing to release. Anything with Rape, Cannibalism, prolonged suffering (emotional and/or physical), or Nazi's falls into the no category simply because they are such a large brand that tries to appeal to a wide variety of retail establishments and consumers.

Of course all of this is just my own thoughts and arguably the films of Rob Zombie aren't all that difficult to watch so I wouldn't be shocked to see Scream Factory pick them up if they were ever given the chance, but thematically they tend to be more subversive then your typical Horror outing and I just don't seem them being a good fit with the company.

Why not The Entity? I get it because of the rape scenes, but it’s a classic movie I know I’d want in my collection, I have the Region B only Eureka version.

I could be way WAY off, but I honestly believe that Scream Factory has a limit as far as how much sexual assault they allow in their films. When it is prolonged or is in general a focus of a film I feel like they may shy away from it. I know they did Death Wish 2 and that one film alone pushes the validity of my comments, however that film can easily be overlooked due to the rest of the over the top violence that plays out in an almost comedic fashion. The film is so over the top that the impact of the Rape(s) is lost in the rest of the experience... by the end you've almost forgotten what happened earlier on because you've been bombarded with non-stop action violence.

In the Entity the primary impact of the film comes from the assaults themselves. They are often prolonged, lack any humor, and are the focal point of the story. I think the film is wonderful and would actually fit reasonably well within the Scream Factory branding, but I think the content and emotional impact is a bit much for Shout Factory.

I totally get it & as if Shout needs any more controversy, given what happened last year with their orders. I just wanna know if there’s a good Region A version of The Entity, I’m stuck with a Region B I can’t watch.

Doesn't seem to me Scream Factory maintains any self-imposed boundaries. They did release the Human Centipede boxset.

Anchor Bay released a copy of The Entity a number of years back that is out of print. If you can find a copy, that's the one you'd want as at least you'd be able to watch it.

I'm not sure. I think I could see Scream/Shout releasing The Entity but everything else TripleHBK mentioned is bang on for the most part.

Naziploitation is sleaze personified. Even Nazi zombies (Shock Waves, Dead Snow, etc) push the limit for some. As much as I've made it my 'life's goal' to watch each and every film on the Video Nasties Section 1 and 2 lists, I still wouldn't touch the Nazisploitation with a twenty-foot pole. I'll admit to being curious about Ilsa: She-Wolf of the SS but even then, I wonder if I'd enjoy it.

The inherent fallacy (or 'fallacy' depending on who you are) of the old Italian Cannibal movies is the actual animal killings depicted on screen.

On the other hand, Scream Factory did release The Human Centipede trilogy (even if it was in conjunction with IFC) and the first two films in that series are pretty contentious stuff to a fair number of people (especially the second one).

But maybe they'd rather just shy away from any more controversy especially considering what happened with the Jeepers Creepers films; that's technically a whole other ball of wax but still.

The New French Extreme films would definitely not fit the company's MO so they're definitely out.

As for Rob Zombie's films...I think given the opportunity that Scream Factory would try and release them. Call it a hunch.

Yeah. I haven't bothered with watching the third yet (I will eventually, out of curiosity). The first movie is a bit of a disturbing concept, but content wise is much tamer than most people expect/assume it is.

The second movie however.....wow.

While yes they did distribute the film, this was an IFC product and as such lacked all of the usual Scream Factory aspects of its accusation and design. They also technically only released part 3 and then re-distributed parts 1 & 2 in the box set. I don't believe you'll find the names of the folks at Shout/Scream Factory on any of the IFC products. The IFC relationship to me is more like the Paramount/Warner or MGM/Fox deals. Scream/Shout Factory is releasing these titles but they aren't "Scream Factory" productions. While officially part of the line, it's clear that the IFC releases are treated differently and viewed differently by Shout Factory which is why I don't believe any of those films are representative of Shout Factory's views. I'd question how much say they honestly have in choosing what to distribute to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was IFC making all the decisions and Scream Factory simply was the avenue through which these titles were sold.
