I used to buy basically anything and everything if the price was right, figuring "hey, for $5 I'll check it out". Now with a massive stack of unwatched movies and movies stored in bins, I rethought my movie collecting. First it was okay, only going to buy movies I'm truly interested in. Now, with all the streaming options out there I'm even more selective. I'll usually check if it's available on any streaming platforms first, if it isn't then I'll likely buy it, if it is, I'll debate if I'll actually watch it more than once or twice in my lifetime. All that to say, I'm spending a lot less on movies these days.

The Entity is officially out from Scream next week!
Still no shipping notification yet! Are posters really holding up these orders from shipping early?

The region free player hasn't even landed on my doorstep yet, and I'm already going through the Australian, British, French and German releases in the blu-ray.com database letter by letter... and I still have space for almost 4,000 additional blu rays on my shelves.

I know I'll never watch everything, and that's the way I want it to be. And when my time is up, I plan on giving my collection to my son (as long as the discs still play).

Somebody intervene! For God's sake, do it now!
I don't know that I will ever reach the number of discs that you and many other own, but I am currently in the process of re-working a basement bedroom so that it has pretty much nothing but built in and free standing aisle shelving to house all my current movies and the many I'll purchase in the years to come. Movie props/posters will be on display but I'm hoping that this will provide enough space to last me a life time of disc buying. My goal is/was to create a film library, and while I am still thousands away from collections like yours, I will ultimately continue to buy discs and add them to the collection as long as they are available. Hell, I often on occasion right now will convert digital editions of films to something that I can burn when there are no Blu Ray options available (indie flicks, Paramount releases, etc). So one way or another the shelves will continue to be filled for as long as I have players to play them.

One of my biggest problems is that I often choose the worst drek of my collection to watch despite having hundreds of really awesome films going unwatched. And why I can't keep myself from watching the bargain bin purchases over the expense stuff, I'll never know.

Here is some the lesser films in my collection I've pulled off the shelf in the past few weeks. I get that some of you may like these films, but I have a lot of expensive and highly thought of films going unwatched on my shelves. It's the bargain bin stuff and upgrades that I need to slow way down on.

I love this film because it features the beautiful Valerie Leon, and I find the plot very interesting since it's a departure from what you would think from the title.
To reiterate what horroru said, Blood From the Mummy's Tomb does not feature a traditional mummy. It's actually based on the Bram Stoker novel The Jewel of Seven Stars, about an archaeologist's daughter who is possessed by the spirit of an Egyptian queen. I believe that was originally going to be the title of the film, too, but Hammer insisted on using a title with "Mummy" in it.

Charlton Heston later starred in a 1980 adaptation called The Awakening, which I would also like to see Scream (or Warner Archive) put out on Blu-ray.

LaLoggia really was swinging for the fences with the themes in this film. There are Carrie teen elements, imposed more or less by the studio as mentioned, but what really makes it distinct is its attempt at an epic struggle between good and evil in the form of archangels manifested as mortals with very human fallibilities.

That all gets lost in the final product, but I love it so.

It helps that it was filmed in my home town, and I remember the hoopla when I was a kid. The school was my daughter's middle school. We've been to the beach where the climax was shot, as well as the creepy castle at 1000 Islands.

Perhaps they meant October is a "Don't Go Into The Light!!!!" month? You never know.

My order with The Entity and Frankenstein Created Woman has updated its status from "Order Taken" to "Processing." So they should ship today or tomorrow.

That's funny; I do the same thing. I have a giant stack of never-before-seen Blu-rays in my watch stack, but over this last week I've watched:

From Dusk Til Dawn
Backdraft
Heat
Escape From New York
Terminator 3

Despite all the rumours to the contrary you do feel as though the door has to be at least a bit more open to US labels now after Second Sight's success. And if so, you would think that Scream might be the best bet (apparently they have been very close before, though I don't expect them to ever stop trying for Dawn and Martin).

That would be amazing. Though it would also put pressure on them to do their first 4k disc. Not that everyone imports but....for the big physical media collectors, you can't announce a standard blu edition, when a UK 4k disc will be coming out around the same time.

BUT, that's also just us speculating they even have that one based off of potential word games. And suddenly I wanna watch BLACK DYNAMITE again for the diner/conspiracy scene.

If Dawn ends up with a US release, I still feel like it will come out of no where from someone that folks aren't expecting. The Well Go USA guess seems like a perfect example of that.

In general I would think SOMEONE has to have a US release in the works.

Unless there was some other aspect to it being so hard to snag beyond "Rubinstein wants a tanker full of cash", I just don't see how none of them could do it, but then suddenly Second Sight alone was able to pull it (and MARTIN) off. Pure assumption on my part, but I just feel like SOMEONE else threw some cash in that pot to hit that magic, monetary number.

To be fair to Scream, if they did have Dawn and Martin, I could understand them going light for October. Still, all speculation at this stage.

True. Speculation aside, if they had both of those movies, AND if they also were doing their first 4k disc for DAWN....I could see those being their only/main releases for October in that case. Maybe A Hammer or 50s monster movie as well.

With how much more focused on the Bottom line Scream Factory has become (from my perspective) it's for that reason I don't believe they have it. I'd actually be almost as surpised to see it from them as I would from someone line Severin. I just don't think that they are willing to throw around the amount of money needed.

If I had to guess, here's the order I would go with of likely distributors...

-Well Go USA (Blu Ray's and 4k Discs) (All Cuts of the film)
-Arrow Video (US Only Distribution and only Blu Ray's, not 4k discs)(3 Cuts of the film for sure, maybe 4)
-Synapse (Only Blu Ray's) (1 Cut of the film)
-Lionsgate (or another major) (Blu Rays & 4k discs) (Could be 1 cut, could be all cuts)(I could see a Blade Runner style release where initially it's a multi disc set but eventually settles into just the theatrical cut and that's it)
-Scream Factory (Blu Rays only) (Probably all cuts)
-Vinegar Syndrome (Blu Ray's only) (All Cuts)
-Severin (Blu Ray's Only)(1 cut)

I dunno if I rank Scream as low as you do, but yeah, Well Go is probably my top choice, logic wise, for who might have the US rights.

Speaking of, I would like some sort of pre-order announcement for the new PHANTASM box set....
