Hadn't seen the episodes in so long, I didn't even notice the replacement scores. I had figured they were just the standard synthy scores for many 80s-90s shows of the time.

I did not expect great PQ for it either. When the entire series released for 30 bucks, and it was already sort of a niche, genre show....I figured we'd essentially be getting the videos just transferred over to DVD. No clean-up etc.

Tales from The Darkside has a serviceable HD transfer that has been making its rounds for a number of years now as well. I've seen the film on a variety of movie channels and I think it may have even ran on basic cable last Halloween. It looks nice though it's not going to blow anyone away. Arguably as good as or better than a number of Vestron releases. All Paramount would need to do is slap it to disc and they'd have a number of sales. I'd encourage fans to give it a go while we continue to wait for Paramount to license or issue many of their Horror classics.

I fear the prices will be a joke, and it will not be much of a sale.

I have to admit, in my head "Tales from the Darkside" and the '80's "Twilight Zone" get lumped together, and now I'm not sure, it might've been "Twilight Zone" where the PQ was especially bad, while "Darkside" was only "what you'd expect" bad.

But the new music is TERRIBLE. I spent some time tracking down copies of the broadcast episodes, but unfortunately, most of what circulates is the syndicated versions, and most of what gets cut out of the syndicated versions is the parts which are score-heavy and dialogue-lite, so ultimately I gave up trying to fix the music until I could find better sources.

Unless they've changed recently, the in-store membership discount stacks with any sale price that isn't on-line only.
(There may even be a trick using in-store pick-up to get it to apply to on-line stuff too, I'm not sure.)

The Dark Castle titles are House on Haunted Hill, Thirteen Ghosts, Ghost Ship, Gothika, House of Wax, the Reaping, RocknRolla, Orphan, Whiteout, Ninja Assassin, the Losers, and Splice. Of all those, my favorite has already been given the SF treatment. All the others have quality (or at the very least, decent) Blu-rays. That being said, I wouldn't mind seeing Splice in a CE. I believe its current Blu is OOP. Thirteen Ghosts, Ghost Ship, House of Wax, Orphan...while I like these titles, I probably wouldn't get rid of the Blu-rays I already own for a double dip.

ROCKNROLLA and THE LOSERS look/feel so out of place there.... And just so odd for that studio in general. I had forgotten NINJA ASSASSIN was theirs. Not horror, but it was violent enough it kinda fit.

I'd typically be thinking the same, but I'm always supportive of OOP titles getting released again. I think 13 Ghosts, Ghost Ship and House of Wax are also OOP. I think the only one of those that ever got a solo release was House of Wax. Always thought we might get some interesting special features for 13 ghosts as it had a unique setting and the costumes/effects were interesting. All of them could have some sort of comparison/thoughts on the remake vs. original.

Yeah, I don't think I ever saw (in the US anyway) a stand alone 13 GHOSTS blu-ray. Just a double feature with...GHOST SHIP???

Was not enough of a GHOST SHIP fan to want/need a CE, but I know it has plenty of fans.

Would love a HAUNTED HILL level CE for 13 GHOSTS though. Like HOUSE OF WAX (aka TOURIST TRAP 2.0) enough I could see myself buying a CE of that as well.

Never saw GOTHIKA, nor WHITEOUT, now that I think of it.

THE REAPING....I'd have to revisit. I remember liking certain aspects of it, but on the whole having no real desire to ever watch it again.

I believe Dark Castle also has the Hills Run Red (the horror title).

Anyone have a possible list of what might be at COMIC CON? And I know no one knows for sure of anything, but I guess does anyone have a list of what titles are actually possible at the moment?

You can stack the code FATHERSDAY for an additional 20% off.

This is the cheapest you will get scream factory titles .

I am taking full advantage and knocking out my backlog.

Search posts by @BarnDoor. He has made several lists of what various studios might have available.

Good to know! Going to snag some older titles I've wanted. Though a few flics seem to be cheaper directly through Shout/Scream, even with the sale.

I'm tempted to grab Drag Me To Hell and Trick R Treat from the sale, but I'm going back and forth on if they're worth upgrading when I already have the Warner Trick R Treat Blu and the Uni DMTH can still be found dirt cheap...

I got 4 titles out of the 10 on my wishlist. Unfortunately, that is all I can swing at the moment.

Scream has been doing that MAP pricing thing so long that my backlog has gotten quite significant, but I did use this sale to knock out the major titles. I'm especially glad to finally have "Creepshow" coming; even though I like the film, I never owned it on DVD or even VHS taped off of cable.

If you're into special features, Trick R Treat is definitely worth upgrading. I had no regrets picking it up at full price when it released, and I had the initial release as well.

Did Scream ever stop shipping out the scratched discs for Trick R Treat?

I've never seen HELL NIGHT before. Is it worth owning? Or, I guess a better question is, if it is good/worth it, what other movies would you compare it to plot and style wise?
