Received the following from last weekend's Barne's & Noble sale for around $16 and change apiece. I was surprised that all of them arrived with slipcovers (shrinkwrapped to the case).

Starman
Sleepwalkers
10 to Midnight
Poltergeist II

Especially odd that Poltergeist II came with a slip seeing how that's been out for so long. It was a little beat up.

Default Shout/Scream Factory Order Problems.

Has anyone else been having issues with orders from Shout Factory? It's been really bad the past few months for me.

Some of the issues I've been having. Damaged posters/Lithographs, damaged slipcovers & shortages on some orders. It's been the worst
the last few months.

Over the last couple years I have had more issues with Shout Factory that
any other label/company I order from. Vinegar Syndrome, Severin, Mondo Macabro, diabolik & Ronin Flix has all been top notch. The only other place I have had lots of problems with is Best Buy mail order. The way they ship steelbooks, they come damaged a lot.

Anyone else had trouble removing the Piranha steelbook disc from the disc holder? I practically had to bend the disc to remove it.

Yes indeed. It was a struggle to get it out. I was afraid I was going to break the disc.

It was ridiculous how much I had to pull it to release it from the center.

So I wen't to a screening of Psycho cop 2 with director Adam Riffkin in attendance last night. Someone asked about a blu ray release of the dark backward. He said that shout tried to get it from sony but that they refused to license it and that you shouldn't expect it anytime soon. It's too bad, I was assuming shout would get it from sony soon.

I think it is best to buy scream factory titles from a real brink and mortar store. They are the biggest of all the niche video companies in North America, so they are not that hard to come by. This way you can see what you are getting. The way they run their online orders really boggles my mind. I really don’t see the incentive to preorder with a company when their track record for shipping damages goods is as bad as it is. Amazon is another company that seems to really not care. The only way to get stop getting damaged goods is to stop ordering from online sellers that don’t care about the condition in which their goods arrive to you.

I see Warner are putting out a 4K UHD of Salem's Lot (also Beetlejuice and The Exorcist). I mention this specifically because Jeff mentioned that they tried for it and Warner were unwilling to licence it out. I guess we now know that they had their own plans. I'd say this also puts an end to any speculation regarding Beetlejuice (The Exorcist was never a serious consideration). (EDIT: Incorrect info - see below)

If Warner are sizing up the horror market for UHD, how long until Nightmare on Elm Street, Poltergeist, Lost Boys, etc? They might even take advantage of the work done on Creepshow, who knows?

I have high hopes for the possibility of the horror market invasion, although, at the same time, I would also love to see standard Blu-ray's getting the much deserved remastered treatment side-by-side with the format you mentioned. Fingers crossed!

I went crazy on that last "sale" (I use the term very loosely here) and spent about $250.00. A lot of them were preorders (I know, no discount but it was one of those, the more you spend the more you save and you get those coupons for future purchases). All my pre-orders have come in early and the only damage I had was that piece of crap 4 disc case that the Universal Horror collection comes in. Just like everyone else it seems, the clip that holds the trays in was completely destroyed. Luckily I had an extra case laying around (when I order from Casetopia, I go a little nuts because their shipping costs are ridiculous). As far as steel books go, I am not a big collector but I have a few, none of which I ordered online. I imagine the odds are pretty high those are going to get dinged up once they leave the shop......

Those listings are for Blu-Ray, not 4K. Someone jumped the gun.

Yes, this is one bad thing about steelbooks. I'm thinking of getting some Criterion style cases and scanning the steelbook image and printing out covers.

Have never really had any problems with them.

Companies that don't care about merchandise getting damaged in transit are companies that can afford to have liberal return policies. Amazon, for instance, will ship you out a replacement no questions asked. Shout may ask for photos as proof but they also will send you a replacement. The only problem is when something is limited, a replacement may not be available. Smaller e-tailers, like Diabolik, will take extra care when shipping out orders since they have more to lose if a customer claims something is damaged. Bottom line: if it's a limited item, order from a small e-tailer.

I've been lucky and have not. I typically order between 2-3 things from them a month, and besides a damaged poster (which was totally USPS fault, but they still replaced it after a photo), everything I've received has come in either Mint to so-close-to-mint it doesn't matter.
