Why let logic get in the way of childish label bashing.

What’s the source for this notion that Let’s Scare Jessica... is with Scream/Shout in the first place?

It's listed (or was listed... it may be gone now) on Kim Newman's blog/site where he catalogs all of the home video releases he has contributed to. Originally it was noted in the synapse thread that he has contributed on the Synapse release of "Let Sleeping Corpses Lie" which appears to be the big Spanish horror film that has been hinted at for a little while. People started combing the list after that revelation and found Let's Scare Jessica to death with the note that it was coming from Shout Factory and here we are.

On the topic of Hell Night one last time, the issue wasn't that the title was delayed from October to January out of spite or due to elements reasons... it was because it had appeared on multiple retailer websites with a specific release date and Scream Factory continued to deny that they were going to release it even when presented with this info because they hadn't gotten the chance to announce it officially first. All they had to do in that case was say...

"this was a release we had planned on having out by the listed October 31st release date but due to issues beyond our control we've had to delay it. We were hoping to make this a special announcement due to it's cult status, but it appears the cat is out of the bag. More info to come when there is something else to share." Instead they went the usual denial route which caused mis-information and a bunch of ill will to be thrown their way because of the flat out lying which everyone knew was occurring in this case because of multiple retailer listings.

This was not a case of denying something is planned up until an official announcement, this was a clear leak that was pretty much completely confirmed by everyone except Scream Factory, which Scream Factory still continued to deny despite all evidence clearly showing that they were lying.

Nah, it was elements issues. The rumor was that they signed all the contracts, started prepping for the release, and only then discovered that they didn't have access to good elements. That was right around the time the preorders leaked.

Shout wants to make money, I don't see them being that petty. Their customer service certainly took a page out of Kino's shitty playbook, but delaying a release just because they got their Hanes in a knot over a leaked item page? I'd expect something like that from Code Red/Dork Farce.

Paramount has always given me the impression more of apathy toward the titles in their catalog that aren't household names.

I'm not saying you're theory isn't possible, but at least as far as JESSICA is concerned, Paramount put out a pretty nice DVD. I'd be more likely to just grab that over streaming.

The only other thing I was wondering is if it's possible Paramount only has US rights, and someone else could issue it overseas.

Maybe.... Maybe not. In this case the entry stated that the comments from Mr. Newman were going to be found on the Shout Factory release so whether a different release is in the works or not isn't as important since we know that Shout has one planned/in the works.

I'm going to wait to post wishlists/want lists from a Paramount deal (most of what I would like has already been mentioned) but maybe we can finally get Adam's Family Values and The Ring 2 released.

Is it possible that Shout would commission a commentary track or interview without having a title locked down, just in the hope that if a much-desired deal was made they would have a head start on extras?

How long will it be before this thread completely turns into a Friday the 13th discussion?

Here, I'll start. The tin set that was released a couple of years ago was pretty comprehensive. I seriously don't know what else could be done with this series. With John Carl Buechler, director of Part VII gone, there's really nothing left to hope for.

Looking forward to more details. The other day I was thinking about several Paramount titles really needing blu-ray releases.

Can anybody confirm if Warning Sign and Ned Kelly have slipcovers or not? The site list them as having slipcovers. I know Ned Kelly is Shout Select, just asking here before I bump that thread.

Warning Sign was a good watch. I heard some mixed things about it, but I enjoyed it.

Is Tim Burton's SLEEPY HOLLOW Paramount?? I haven't watched it in ages, but I seem to recall it opening with their logo....

I'd definitely be in for a new/better scan and some extras on that if it could ever happen.

WARNING SIGN doesn't. It's not a special/collectors edition. I got my copy directly from them on day one, no slip.

I have the metal tin set, as well as the other trimmed back set they released a year or so ago (figured it was good to have backups and the set was cheap). When it comes to Paramount, I'm personally more excited about the OOP and unreleased stuff. Some great titles they're sitting on! When it comes to F13, NOES, etc. I'm good with the sets I have and would only really look forward to a proper 4K release where we can get it.

It'll happen once we have confirmation that a deal is in place. As for what could be gained from a new set...

-New Scans perhaps?
-Original Audio Presentations perhaps?
-First time ever true 3D presentation of Part 3.
-Jason Goes to Hell Uncut world premier on Blu Ray (officially)
-Individual Discs/cases/artwork for the full series, not just part of it.

As I mentioned I'm not nearly as excited about a new Friday set as I am/would be for a Nightmare set, but I'd still buy it.

Yes it does appear to be a Paramount Property.

Didn't Warner Archive release it last?

I'm a huge F13 fan, and of course, would run off the cliff like a good lemming to buy a new set. That being said, I don't NEED a new set. The tin is quite nice. We're never going to get the uncut films that are missing footage, as that stuff is GONE. I've already got a digital copy of the uncut JGTH, and frankly that is far and away my least favorite of the series. And with Crystal Lake Memories, I don't know what else anyone could want in the form of interviews/extras.

So, while I'm admitting that I'll day one pre-order a new F13 set and would be stoked to do so, I'd much rather get a bunch of stuff we don't have already. Like many, April Fools Day is the top of my list.

New scans would be great but in all honesty I am more than content with my current Friday the 13th blus (separate and double feature blus) and the fabulous Crystal Lake Memories doc. They already look and sound excellent IMO.
