It's been said that Scream Factory turned them down a number of years back for other titles. Since then, they've tried to get them several times but now that it is an ongoing franchise again Universal has refused to license them. I would imagine that the renewed interest thanks to the new movie from MGM has helped to fuel this decision. There is also the potential tv series in the works and of course the DTV sequels from the last few years. Most likely Universal when they initially considered licensing them hadn't realized how much of a fan base there still was for this franchise and has since learned that there is still money to be made off of Chucky/Child's Play.

I feel like Scream Factory will eventually be able to get these much requested films, it just may not be any time soon.

At this point I wish Universal would stop releasing bare bones editions. Whether these get released through SF or whoever, I would just like the deleted scenes and alternate ending of 2 on home video.

And a commentary on one or the other.

The depressing thing is collectors editions of Child's Play 2 & 3 would be super stacked as Mancini has a lot of BTS footage and there's a lot of willing participants who would be involved.

I'd also love a collector's edition of Bride of Chucky as well.

The Silver lining with all of this for me is that maybe.... just maybe, all of these delays will eventually result in a potential full featured Box set ala The Halloween Collection.

The money on these particular films will eventually dwindle. Universal can still go the route of 4k releases if they really wanted to but outside of that there are only so many times they can re-sell the same discs. Eventually when those sales slow to a crawl licensing to Scream Factory seems like a smart plan (particularly if they continue to do what they've done in having their own release out at the same time as the Scream Factory edition.)

While my interest lies primarily in getting Collector's Editions of Parts 2 & 3, I would have no problem buying a box set despite the fact that I already own both the single disc MGM and Scream Factory release of Part 1, the original 1-6 box set, and the single disc edition of Cult of Chucky, provided that said box set would include all the Collectors edition content we've been asking for, for parts 2-5.

I placed my sale order back on the 16th. It was a 13 film order but didn't include any titles going OOP. I'm still waiting for shipping confirmation.

I placed a Kino October sale order on the same day and the Kino's arrived three days ago.

With that said, it is still readily available from Shout's own site (I couldn't find enough to get to $50 for free shipping), Best Buy, and Amazon, so I don't think people are exactly clamoring for it.

It could potentially end up at another label, but with something this trashy and low-tier, there's no guarantee of that - and I'd lose out on the awesome Shout cover art.

I guess we're in the same boat as we both placed our orders on the same day.

Took 8 days from my order date but finally got a shipping notification from the sale... geeze. Probably should have cancelled yesterday like I was tempted to since it seems like the two Collector's Editions I ordered have been arriving sans slip. And no - I am not a NEED TO HAVE slip person, but I grabbed titles I could very easily have waited until dropped below $20 to grab on Prime.

Anyway, I'm bummed my order of The Blob (from Amazon) is likely to arrive after Halloween. I've actually never seen the movie but cannot wait.

Weird, I ordered several titles from the Sale on the first day, got shipping notification for them the next morning, and had them in my hand 2-3 days later.

BUT, that was at the start of the sale. I'm sure orders got backed up pretty quickly.
