The packaging on the Alice Sweet Alice disc is a thing of beauty. That said, next time I move I'm going to with they were all like Shout! discs.

I may be alone in this, but when the whole slipcover thing began, I thought "great something more to take care of, and more unnecessary packaging"

I'm probably the only person that liked early DVD paperboard snap cases. They had the nice paperboard graphics, a little less plastic, and most important, no mylar window to ripple and age.

I think there was once this notion that armory cases kept your disks clean and fresh like they were a tuna sandwich. The truth is that a lot plastics are better off with a little "breathing" (degassing).

Yeah, I'm kinda with you on that. I think their on-disc content could be shot and cut better. In particular the Italian and other Euro titles that have special features by Freak-o-Rama are just so dull. (I also find this to be the case with all the work done by FoR for other labels- Scorpion, Code Red, Severin, etc. So this isn't specifically an Arrow issue.)

I honestly would be shocked if Scream didn't pick this up with their deal with Paramount. I'm almost certain it will happen, the big question is when? The soonest we could get it now is March, who knows how further out it really is.

Does anyone know if Match Point and Perfume: A Story of a Murderer are now Universal titles or Paramount titles? If Paramount I wonder if these could be titles Scream Factory could release. (Match Point is probably more of a Shout! Select title).

Also, I wonder if A Simple Plan could be released by Scream Factory.

I know that digital rights are different from disc, but....

I just got an email from Shout Factory TV promoting their "cult" marathon for Thanksgiving weekend, including 24 hours of CHOPPING MALL on Black Friday.

I don't usually watch their streaming channel, but do they usually feature Vestron/non-SF titles????

I ordered the Fargo 20th Anniversary steelbook from Amazon and it arrived today. Not sure why it took so long for me to add this to my collection but I righted that wrong. It's one of those WTF things I guess. I don't follow the Coens but this and No Country For Old Men are fantastic films. Haven't been able to watch Blood Simple all the way through.

Finally got my shipment email for The Curse / Curse II. I was nervous because it's officially marked as OOP on Shout's website but they didn't let me down! Super excited to watch it once it's here

They still have not shipped mine, ordered 11/1. I'm giving up on getting these and just moving on to other movies...

**Okay, I commented too soon. Got a partial shipment, they did not ship The Dark Half.

Couldn't agree more. It's tied with Sorcerer for my all-time favorite.

CHOPPING MALL was a Roger Corman/Concorde production that had the video rights obtained by Lightning Video. Lightning eventually got absorbed into Vestron and through the Live/Artisan acquisitions by Lionsgate, explains how the latter obtained Chopping Mall and put it out through the Vestron line.

It was up for streaming by Lionsgate, but now it appears their rights are starting to expire evidenced by Shout Factory recently having streaming listings for Chopping Mall. I suspect if this is indeed what happened, then the Vestion BD will probably be going OOP soon and Shout will likely put out a remastered reissue afterwards.

Still waiting on Blood and Lace, The Dark Half and Rue Morgue/Dunwich double.

A lot of old, horror interested boomers seem to put Universal horror on a piedestal, and then accept very little of anything else outside American horror up to the early 1960s.

In that regard, the boomers are really not much different than people in this thread who have no interest in anything outside horror from the 1980-90s. It is just a different decade or different decades they focus on.
I'm in my early '50s, so I guess that means Gen X, but I love Euro-horror from the '60s- early'80s. I'd say the late '80s-'90s are slim-pickings era for me, but I thought most acknowledged that was a pretty fallow time for the genre?

As far as Tom Weaver goes, he's a great historian and author in regard to the era he loves, but it does seem like if it wasn't made in the good ole USA, he's not interested.

Interestingly enough, there appears to be two separate options for streaming the film on Amazon. 1) SGL Entertainment 2) Shout Factory. Both appear to offer the same film and same viewing options.

All I know is unless it drops to around $20 or less, I no longer pickup a title unless it's one that I absolutely love or I have a strong desire to blind buy cause of what I've read about it.

Transfer wise, I think Scream has been doing better the last year or two than the years before that. At least from what I've seen and read.
There are quite a lot of non collectors edition Scream Factory releases that have reversible covers.

All of these titles have alternate art

-The Beast Within
-Blood from a Mummy's Tomb
-Blood and Lace
-Candyman Farewell to the Flesh
-Crawlspace
-The Chosen
-The Critters Collection
-From a Whisper to a Scream
-The House that Screamed
-Ghost Town
-Gate II
-I. Madman
-Dark Angel
-The Legacy
-Lady in White
-Leviathan
-The Manitou
-Monkey Shines
-New Year's Evil
-Piranha II
-Puimpkinhead II
-The Resurrected
-Scream For Help
-Species II
-Superstition
-Without Warning
