Is Orca with Paramount? If so, wonder if this will get the Scream treatment.

It is, and I'd be very surprised if they didn't have it. They could even licence some of the extras from the Umbrella disc.

Hopefully we'll get 4-5 announcements for March this week. We don't know of anything else for certain so these will all be 'new', so to speak.

I hope so. I was at Amoeba the record store the past few days and saw the Umbrella release for sale and it said StuidoCanal on the box, so wasn't sure if it was still with Paramount or StudioCanal in the US.

Either way, pretty anxious to see what's in store for us in March as we don't know anything besides April Fool's Day.

FYI for those who may be interested, my $12 copy of NINJA 3 from Amazon shipped with slip. The title is still available for cheap right now.

A quick note about The Abominable Snowman: Shout! has included the full HD master in the extras, which is what the Japanese blu-ray is based off of. It's nice to have but it is missing the 5 minutes of film that is included in the main offering.

It's a given that Orca should be coming from Shout. Then again, we thought the same thing about Deadly Friend and some others from the Warner deal. I'd like to think Paramount will be way more generous to Shout when deciding what to license. In Warner's case, they have a very active (and probably nicely profitable) MOD line, while Paramount does not. Many of those Warner movies we thought Shout would grab are likely coming through the Archive line. It's just a shame they only seem to do horror movies in October.

Orca should receive a collector's edition, the film has been maligned forever as a mere "Jaws-ripoff" when it is truly so much more.

Not to mention, this absolutely gorgeous poster should be the cover.

Thanks for the advance good news, Ralph. Mine is coming from Target and it's definitely one of my most anticipated winter watches. I knock Shout a lot, but they really came through on this one so thanks to them too.

Yeah, that art is great. The score by Morricone is nice, and it has Richard Harris. Hopefully we get 1-2 more Paramount titles in March.

I'm still pretty shocked that Deadly Friend didn't happen. I would have thought that's one of the titles Scream would have tried to grab up right away. I'm thinking Warner might have had their own plans with the title, but nothing was ever released. Who knows.

I'm also wondering if all of the Fox titles from their most recent deal have all been used up. I was really hoping Death Sentence would have gotten a release.

Regarding the SD inserts, I've read that there's about five minutes of them, and originally was led to believe, or at least I thought, was just one or two scenes. Information at the time of the release announcement was kind of sketchy. Are they actually spread out through the film?

The Paramount deal continues...

Quote:
***NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT***

We’re bringing the creepy crawlers out this winter with 1975’s BUG. Coming to Blu-ray for the first time on March 10th!

Legendary horror writer/producer/director William Castle (The Tingler, Strait-Jacket, Rosemary's Baby) presents a creeping, crawling film nightmare that will have you screaming and squirming with fright! A massive earth tremor opens a crevasse in the California desert, releasing a plague of bizarre, fiery, foot-long cockroaches. With their numbers multiplying and the death toll mounting, obsessive entomologist James Parmiter (Bradford Dillman, Piranha, The Swarm) desperately seeks a way to eliminate the seemingly indestructible critters before they spread clear across the country ... and beyond! Joanna Miles (The Dark Secret Of Harvest Home) and Patty McCormack (The Bad Seed) are among the terrorized cast in this suspenseful screamfest directed by Jeannot Szwarc (Jaws 2).

Extras to be announced on a later date. Pre-order now @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/product...roduct_id=7318

Also Inseminoid coming 10th March:

Based on what has recently been added to Shout Factory TV, I speculated a while back that Shout had either licenced a raft of titles from Gordon Films or perhaps even acquired their catalogue, which should include Inseminoid. It may mean that the following titles are also in play (provided Criterion have lost the rights to the 5 titles they put out on DVD)

First Man Into Space
The Atomic Submarine
The Haunted Strangler
Corridors of Blood
Fiend Without a Face
Blood of the Vampire
Horror Hospital
Devil Doll
Curse of the Voodoo
Tomb of Torture
The Playgirls and the Vampire
Naked Evil (AKA Exorcism at Midnight)

A lot of those titles are what I'd call bargain bin films. Can't see many getting new special features outside maybe a commentary.

Cujo and It already had great releases too.

The softness is spread throughout but the majority of the missing footage occurs in the mountain cabin. If you own the Anchor Bay dvd version and remember how pretty bad the video is these SD inserts, though still very soft, are much better looking. To be completely fair and balanced the HD portions are really nice but the softness stood out enough to distract me at first but I got used to them.

I’m excited for Inseminoid simply because it’s Norman J. Warren and his films are excellent.

Just sad it’s a bland looking release.

This is great news since my Indicator blu of it is one of the ones with the playing problem and they still haven't done a replacement for it yet.
