I don't know if THE TERROR has also received a 4K restoration or not.
I want Dementia 13 and Targets (1968).

I want The Terror and Targets. In Targets Byron Orlock (Boris Karloff) makes a personal appearance at a drive-in theater where The Terror is being screened.

I wonder if San Diego Comic Con will be cancelled this year. If so, will SF announce the 10-15 titles around the same time?

I have to admit that DVD was what brought my attention to the Criterion Collection and 100+ Blu-Rays later, I'm hooked. I honestly think they released some more mainstream movies back in the late 90s ('Chasing Amy' and 'The Rock' also come to mind) as a way to get their brand known (and obviously sell some discs as more recognizable movies will appeal to more casual viewers).

To this day, I believe this is only disc version of the Director's Cut as well...

The only reason Criterion released Armageddon and The Rock was in an attempt to cast a wider net and reel in more customers. UK label Powerhouse/Indicator pulled a similar stunt when they launched. It seems to work but it's a somewhat deceiving practice since those types of films are not what those respective labels are about. That hasn't stopped me from expanding my Criterion collection but I haven't bought anything from Indicator in months. The stuff they put out just doesn't appeal to me. Criterion at least does the occasional Rosemary's Baby, Thief and Dressed To Kill.

The Rock was my gateway into Criterion Collection.

I remember buying The Rock on VHS and then spotting the Criterion version on Laserdisc at Tower Records and seeing all the bonus features it was packed with it. I was so disappointed because we didn't have Laserdisc. I was even more disappointed when it was released on DVD and it was just a standard bare bones release. I believe it was another few years or so before Criterion finally released it on DVD, and I bought it instantly.

Don't forget they were laserdisc releases too. I think a lot of the early DVD releases that get derided (and have gone OOP/haven't been reissued as BD) were things they likely had rights deals arranged towards the end of the LD days when they were likely trying to cast that net to keep the doors open. DVD was such a success as a format it seemed like they could focus more on things they really wanted to and not need to do the more commercial releases to bring in some extra revenue.

The rights are currently held up in an on-going lawsuit. Prepare to be surprised. I doubt its happening.

I believe it's been stated that the lawsuit doesn't affect anything that's already been made. It's only holding up new films going forward.

I doubt that's true. It's more than just about new films. It's about the film rights to everything and merchandise as well. This is why Neca stopped making F13th figures.

And why the ceased work on the Friday the 13th video game, despite how popular it was. The lawsuit seems super messy from my understanding, so I wouldn't be surprised if it impacts home video rights (at least in terms of new releases).

Larry Zerner (Shelly from F13, now a successful entertainment lawyer) has been breaking down the case each step of the way. The idea is that Horror Inc (Cunningham’s company) isn’t legally bound from rereleasing old material or currently licensing new product, but for the sake of their case against Victor Miller, they’ve brought licensing to a standstill due to the money involved. When someone is knocking on your door saying “hey, you owe me a bunch of money from a 40 year old franchise,” you don’t want to have a ton of new product on the market that proves just how profitable said franchise remains in present day. A big move such as a new box set could potentially mean money on the table they’d have to share with Miller once everything is finalized.

Again, I could be interpreting everything incorrectly and SF could announce the set a lot of us have been waiting for. It just doesn’t seem likely.

All this talk about a F13th set that most likely wont happen anytime soon......

Would be a good time for SF to finally announce a Nightmare on Elm Street box set.
