Uhm, yeah, I do. I don't mind Part VIII at all and I'm sure even those fans who dislike it will be curious to see if the extra footage makes the movie better or even worse.

Yeah, real strong chance of additional ineptitude improving that turd.

But as is glaringly apparent, there will never be a shortage of people supporting Shout's cheap and lazy business practices.

Ever since I listened to John Carl Buechler's commentary from the original DVD Box-Set, this has been one of my Holy Grail or workprint cuts I've always wanted to see. I think I've seen it offered once as a bootleg at a Con back when I was in college. I just couldn't stomach the $125.00 price tag at the time. Now adays I would have snapped that up in a second.

Well you're certainly adding a ton of positive energy to this thread.

I'm a fan who also considers Manhattan to be the worst of the Paramount-era Friday movies, but you bet your ass I'd also wanna see that extended cut. And I don't think any Friday fans expect there to be some lost masterpiece with any added footage, but we'd still wanna see it for curiosity's sake. Who knows if it'll ever happen but fans don't wanna see an extended cut of part VIII for the reasons you claim.

Despite their shortcomings, I'm generally a big fan of Shout, which is why their persistence in going to the same well can be frustrating...I'd rather see more quality releases of films that have been neglected on home video than the umpteenth release of Jason and/or Freddy.

Freddy and Jason deserve the same treatment as the awesome Halloween Deluxe Boxed and Phantasm set.Bring them on.

Let’s see....revisit the F13 well, which by early indications could be a very bountiful well OR release massively obscure title for all 12 message board fanboys OR dip into said F13 well - raise some nice funds - and possibly use said funds to get a few obscure titles for said fanboys.

F13 set = good business move.
Why is this concept always so hard to understand?

We were talking about Jason Takes Manhattan, not The New Blood, unless Buechler had something to say about the former?

There's definite room for improvement on the previous Jason releases though and for a company that specializes in horror, it would be monumentally stupid of them not to take advantage of the opportunity to release a set of one of the most enduring and popular slasher series of all time.

I'm not always a fan of double-dips myself, I think Paramount putting out another release of Fatal Attraction is a complete waste of plastic, but in this case I think it's a good thing.

Those be nice.

And i guess WB/Paramount/Scream might do that rumored 30th anniversary Friday The 13th boxset for Halloween like they did in 2014 with the Halloween boxset and give us the uncut Jason Goes to Hell. That be cool and some remastering be cool too.

Im fine with my F13 eight film set. We projected them on our 100'' backyard screen and they looked good

I really hope Deadly Friend gets released on Blu, whether Scream or Warner archive. With that though, I fully see that film being a “wait this is it?” for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet haha. I mean I enjoy it, but it’s not top tier Craven by a long shot.

And with that, I’d be down for an Elm Street set along with this F13 set.

It's very simple for me: I consider the Halloween box set the greatest home video release of all time and want similar F13 & Elm Street sets to complement it.

Yeah that’s a fair point. They have the ability to be the best in the business but they often fall short of Arrow/Synapse/VS etc when it comes to the quality of their transfers. Which is a shame because for a boutique label, they probably have the best catalogue.

Releases like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street keep the lights on and make the obscure releases possible.

The only way I would get Deadly Friend is if Kristy Swanson does a New Interview ... otherwise the movie not good enough to get ... at least in my opinion...

My purchasing logic is on a different level.

Is Kristy Swanson in this movie? If yes, then buy

I'm happy for the Craven released titles on Scream. I'm just hoping they keep releasing more, even if some aren't his best work. Both Deadly Friend and Vampire in Brooklyn definitely aren't Craven at his fullest potential - but thankfully they still carry charm. And hell, I'd say Red Eye is almost a return to form but with modern appeal.
Something like Cursed though is ironically titled as I don't think that has a chance at all getting a proper Director's Cut.

I would've thought that Vampire In Brooklyn would've fallen in the same camp as Escape From L.A.: as soon as the deal with Paramount was revealed, it was a given that it would be coming, based on the director alone.

Then again, they apparently didn't get Deadly Friend during the initial Warner Bros deal (let's keep our fingers crossed for the next one).
