From what I remember, a woman purchased the original DVD from I think Circuit City for her kids and they got an eyeful or two!
She apparently raised an uproar with MGM and the disc was recalled.

Maybe legal does not want a repeat of this headache.

Although I can't imagine that would be an issue in 2013. Scream releases aren't usually sold in stores anyway, and it's not like someone would mistakenly rent the film thinking it was a family friendly PG film, as video stores don't really exist anymore.

I agree with all your points, but who knows. The original DVD was out for a few years before that mess so I would not imagine it would be because of Adrienne Barbeau.

Hopefully one day we get a Collector's Edition with the Unrated version of the film on Blu-Ray.

For now, though, this is definitely appreciated!

I'm guessing NOT from importcds? They seem to be having trouble getting stock by release day, at least for Shout and Olive releases (for example, Timerider came out today and they don't have stock yet thus my preorder has not shipped, and I'm still waiting on my Olive pre-orders that were released Feb 26th...).

And what's most frustrating is that Import CDs were known for getting pre-orders to customers before release date, until someone (apparently) complained about Halloween II and III going out early.

Is it possible ImportCDs is being penalized for continuing to ship orders early?

Maybe DC doesn't want the International Version in the US or maybe MGM doesn't have the US rights to the Inernational Version?

I remember my nephew worked for DC, and now works for Warner Bros, and he mentioned that Warner was discussing making a new version of it, and that were debating with MGM about some rights issues.

I think this is a separate problem though, as i cant see why this would have any actual effect on it.

I missed the part where they said that it was not going to do it as a Collector's Edition.

Either way this is a great chunk of news! Cant wait to see what the next title they announce is...

Scream Factory ROCKS!! and I cant wait to pick up SWAMP THING on BD!!!!

AND THE OTHER NEWS:

This obviously means they havent revealed ALL of their MGM lineup!... YET!

I'm completely ignorant on this issue, but why can't MGM just get Swamp Thing re-rated or release it as "uncut?"

Does a different studio own the international cut?

If I could just get Witchboard, Night of the Demons, and Fright Night Part II from ScreamFactory I will die a happy man

And Carrie from The Criterion Collection

I know, that's pushing it. Lol.

They now ship titles a week before release date, meaning one usually receives them on release date, or sometimes a day after, but they used to ship two weeks or so before release date, so you'd receive them a week early.

The first two are now with MGM, so I'd say it's likely that they will represent (along with one or maybe two others) MGM's October horror slate for this year. If not, I'm sure Scream would try hard to acquire them.

Excellent to hear about SWAMP THING. I wish it would be a Collector's Edition but totally happy with the fact that its just coming out on blu at all. Hopefully there will be some nice extras on the disc. Yeah, we would all like the unrated cut but I grew up with the PG version so I'm happy. I wonder if they could get by with putting the excised footage as a bonus feature?

I really would be incredibly happy if that came to be. I know they're both cheesy and stupid, but I think they're so much fun! They're two of my all-time favorite horror movies! ScreamFactory would do them justice, I just know it!

That would be a nice consolation prize (especially in HD).

It was an Avco Embassy production so it is with MGM in the states. I know Warner Bros controls the rights in some european territories. MGM has it in the UK though.

I've already ranted about NOTD's irredeemable awfulness, so I won't rehash it, but Witchboard, though certainly silly, is enjoyable trash. I'd certainly upgrade from my HDTV broadcast copy.
