Yeah I could not remember the exact story, but I remember when it happened. Everyone scrambled to grab the DVD before it was gone, I remember that.

Too bad Slumber Party Massacre isn't on blu-ray. I have the DVD set, but would very happily upgrade

Maybe some day...

Two weeks later... Slasher Design finally posted an apology of sorts over in the comment section of the second metal art article...

Quote:
"I would like to apologize to any and all that have either been affected, offended, or unsatisfied with any of my work. There was never any deceptive or malicious intent in mind. Having been working in art/design for nearly ten years and playing in a band for a majority of that earlier on, I was never made aware that some of the way I’ve worked and the work I had done was looked down upon. In portions of my work I often utilize a technique that I first learned in design school and eventually had heard of doing from other artists early on as well as of late… one in which you take a reference piece, paint over it and/or alter it to make it your own. When doing this it was always my intention to alter it enough to be considered my own. However, I understand that is a blurry line, and one I never wanted to cross. This is definitely a learning experience and my focus now is to evolve and for this to no longer be an issue. Again, I’m truly sorry for any pain I have caused." - Slasher
I'm sorry but most instances were CLEARLY cut and paste jobs and not just "painted over" references.

Anchor Bay supposedly still has the home video rights (the film and the DVD is still listed on their site). MGM possibly just own certain rights like TV rights.

This schedule was posted on Scream's FB a week ago, but to get away from the Slasher Rob controversy, here again is what the second half of 2013 will hold (with Swamp Thing added):

Quote:
The Fog - Summer
Swamp Thing - Summer
The Incredible Melting Man - Summer
Hospital Massacre - Late Summer
Day of the Dead - Fall
Scanners II & III - Fall
Night of the Comet - Late Fall
The Horror Show - Late Fall
The Vagrant - Late Fall
Schizoid - Late Fall
The Godsend - Late Fall
I know of at least two more titles that are in the works, but no idea if they'll be 2013 releases. With 12 catalog releases in the first half of 2013 (not counting Dead Souls and with the double-feature set counted as one), I'm guessing we should be getting at least three or four more titles before the year is over. It's interesting that Hospital Massacre is listed separately from the other titles whose formats/configurations are still unconfirmed. Cliff has already stated that it wouldn't sell enough to warrant a new HD transfer, so could it be a solo DVD-only release? I would think if it were going to be DVD-only they'd combine it with another SD title to drum up some more interest, but perhaps they just haven't finalized the film it will be paired with.

Maybe MGM had an HD transfer prepared for it after all?

Has anything been mentioned about Scream possibly releasing the first Ghoulies movie (either alone or as a two pack with the sequel)?

No, but I and II have played (and looked pretty good) on MGMHD, so there are HD masters.

More MGM titles gives me more hope for Miracle Mile to come out (on the Shout! label of course).

YES. Great movie that few people have even heard of. I'd love to replace my crappy fullscreen DVD.

Yes it would be nice to have it in widescreen after all these years. Plus some special features would be nice. An isolated Tangerine Dream score would be awesome.

Is there any chance that Shout might re-release these with Scream Factory artwork? I would love to have them officially in the Scream Factory series

Audition
The Stepfather
Fear City
Remains
Dead Cert
Sector 7

I would be happy with a simple re-issue with the scream factory logo replacing the shout one because I don't own any of those listed yet

Also received the DVD Action Packed Movie Marathon today. Love this set. Already watched Cyclone and I'm on Alienator now. I can only watch these movies late at night because thats how I remember seeing them when I was a kid.

ive not been interested in the requests for the PSYCHO films that a lot of people have been saying, but with the new BATES MOTEL series stirring up interest in the films, i would hope that either Universal or Shout will be releasing them on blu. Theoretically, it is possible shout already picked them up, if universal would allow them, as part of their 2nd Universal deal...

I have it DVR'd from MGMHD, so there is an HD transfer out there! I guess Shout did not find it Blu-worthy
