After reading about all the delays I feel lucky that the 1 order I placed during the sale shipped within days & I had it by end of the week. I choose priority shipping though, not sure if that had anything to do with it or it was just the 3 titles I ordered were all in stock.

I haven't. I've sworn off ordering from them unless they're running a great sale or no one else has a title I'm looking for.

It would truly be strange if they have held onto the Dead Zone for five years.

I also wonder what other titles from Paramount Criterion might be holding onto? I wouldn't be surprised if the Elephant Man is one of them.

Still at the end of the day, I really want a Scream release of the Dead Zone. With Christopher Walken doing an interview for the Comfort of Strangers, I hope he'll be willing to do one for this film.
It is not so uncommon, especially if they are waiting for a restoration (like War of the Worlds) or talent participation. Plus the last couple of years have had a few pretty massive boxsets that take up a lot time and resources.

Pretty sure The Thing and Army Of Darkness would be the first to come, probably The Fog too.

I ordered a whole bunch of Blu-rays from Shout over two weeks ago. One of them shipped a couple days later and I received it last week. All the other items have yet to ship, so I assume they must be extraordinarily shorthanded.

I'd be down if they start doing 4K release of MGM titles (would also give them an opportunity to go back and clear up Dance of The Dead in Return of The Living Dead, still you got to hand it to them for clearing up 99% of the music rights!).

The only matter is their deal with MGM at this point; a lot of titles are going OOP.

Probably because their deal is nearing expiration or because MGM's deal with Fox is nearing the same fate, who knows?

But whatever the case, if Shout! CAN renew their deal, it would mean a lot of titles would come back better than before (new transfers, extras, a whole bunch of stuff). Best case scenario; another label like Arrow could do the same thing if they get the titles Scream originally had.

Speak of the devil. I just got an e-mail from Shout that two more titles from my second order shipped. Two more to go now. Then, hopefully, the three movies I ordered from the OOP sale.

I'm thinking SF has The Dead Zone, even though CC has a love for Cronenberg they missed out on Dead Ringers (an obvious choice for CC) which SF released. It's the same thing that happened with the Tenant, for years everyone thought CC was going to release it to complete the apartment trilogy, but SF got that as well. I'm thinking Shout has been offering more $ for certain directors and even though Criterion is interested in acquiring the same films, they might not be willing to pay passed a certain amount!
I do believe CC has the Elephant Man, without a doubt if they missed out on that one, then someone from their company got fired....
I'm with dwk in that War of the Worlds wait was most likely due to restorations, but you know anything is possible!

People are waiting on orders from the first of April...they’re seriously backlogged due to COVID19 and the sale...not to mention average wait is several weeks during normal circumstances.

This has been my policy with ordering directly from SF for some time-- I simply don't do it, except for when there are very good sales, or when I can't get one of their releases elsewhere.

I'm gradually getting my recent orders from them, but they are coming very, very slowly. I've been waiting for three weeks for certain Blu-rays to ship, and I'm still waiting. I don't expect to have all of them in my hands for possibly one more month.

This slowness is not just about the pandemic either. That is obviously not helping at all, but SF has been slow with processing and shipping most of my orders for years.

I think it says something about Shout Factory when their ship times are slower than Bill Olsen's (back when Code Red's Big Cartel was still around).

And that was a 1 man operation. No doubt SF is probably short staffed as well currently, but it's still no excuse. The wait time is ridiculous. Especially considering Bill did everything himself.

For some reason, it goes back to a previously cached page. You have to refresh it to see your updated cart. It's annoying.

Pretty sure Shout ships from a warehouse that also handles other packages, which I would imagine are also going nuts the way any shipping center is.
