From a sales perspective Scream should try to get this out in September/October when the mood for horror is high. I'm sure it would sell well whenever it's released, but the sales would still be HIGHER if it was released late September or October. |

Update: I remember him saying something around the lines of "I usually don't get surprised by announcements, but this one blows my mind" |

They often have knowledge of upcoming releases for weeks in advance due to the sale sheets and retail ordering behind the scenes stuff. They knew roughly 2 months in advance of at least a few Vestron releases if I remember correctly. |

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they did a steelbook for the first one, especially since that did sell well enough for them to seek out the rights to the sequels in the first place. I wouldn't get it just for the steelbook, but if it came with a 4K transfer and/or a NECA Angela figure, I'd be willing to consider a double dip (that's what got me to get the Night of the Demons steelbook, after all). Most retailers will have knowledge of the upcoming releases prior to them getting announced to the public. It's led to a number of SF's titles getting leaked prior to the announcement (like the Halloween box set and Hell Night). I am hoping it's the Friday the 13th box set, just so I can stop trying to keep my expectations for the set even existing, let alone the specs, in check... |

Same with A Nightmare on Elm Street, to be honest; I'd love to have similar looking sets to (what I consider to be, anyway) the big three slasher franchises. |

Yeah, that cover was awful. Not enough comic book style floating heads. I hope the upcoming set has a floating heads for all the cast from all 12 movies.

Plus, let's look at some of the titles that haven't gone OOP yet, that are also MGM titles. The Howling is still around. Lifeforce is still around. Escape From New York isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The Fog isn't going OOP. Mad Max isn't going OOP. Those are all bigger titles that you know sold well, since they DID do steelbooks for those (except for Max, which ironically may be one of their best selling titles). It just stands to reason that if they're letting the license for a title go, they likely didn't feel it was worth hanging onto the license in the first place. Now Slumber Party Massacre is one of the titles from the New Horizons library of Corman films, which they outright bought. So they basically have those titles (along with Piranha, Rock N Roll High School, Galaxy of Terror, Forbidden World, etc.) in perpetuity, not to mention both the original Blu-Ray and the trilogy set on DVD were popular releases, so it's not really a surprise that it would get the steelbook treatment. That said, you never know. A few years ago, I wouldn't have expected them to have gotten titles from either Warner Bros. or Paramount, so things may always change. |

That DiabolikDVD tease definitely reads like it would apply more to a singular film than to a series. I don't think it'll be a Scream Factory title, and it wouldn't surprise me if the title in question turns out to be something that's relatively obscure.
