I will never again assure another Shout/Scream Factory customer that his or her outstanding order of Blu-rays or DVDs from the SF website will certainly be fulfilled-- and honestly, I now feel very bad for assuring SF multiple customers of just that (based on my past experiences with SF) on these boards a few months ago.

I have learned that an SF customer had an outstanding order for "Poltergeist III" canceled, despite that the fact that this person ordered the disc ten days before the website announced that the title was now (on May 18th) out of print. I also just had my order for "The Squad" canceled, even though I placed my order for it six days before it officially went out of print on the site. Of course, I realize that mistakes can happen, and I know that manufacturing plants will only make a certain number of discs, and no more, for a given movie that is going OOP , but both I and this other customer got our orders in several days before the SF website declared these titles to be out of print. I will not trust SF again by ordering directly from them. If I can't get the particular SF title that I want from literally any other site, then I will simply do without it.

Anyone know when Shout will announce their fall lineup? Will it be in July? Here is what I am hoping for

F13th Collection (all but confirmed from Shout)
Monster Squad (1987)
Pin (1988)
Black Xmas (2007)
Wrong Turn (2003)
Tremors (1990)
Near Dark (1987)

This is of course a wishlist, and we would be lucky to get one of these six besides the F13th collection

Scream Factory's Rec Collection (chipboard)
Criterion's Andrei Rublev (digipak)
Criterion's Tree of Life (digipak)

And, out of the three, the Rec box was in the worst shape, with a couple dented corners. (For whatever reason I've almost always ended up with dented corners on releases in chipboard boxes.)
Damn, I got lucky. My copy of [REC] arrived in excellent shape from Amazon.

Most likely they'll announce things on Monday July 6th for July. As exciting as these announcements should be seeing as how we will be into the fall season, I'm not expecting much at this point sadly. I very much hope to be proven wrong however.

I passed on the Second Sight release because of the video glitch. I kind of regret it now, but if Shout was to release a new transfer, I'd be all over it.

So I'm browsing through the forum for answers, but I'm going to ask anyway: Is it ever worth ordering direct through SF's website? I noticed a couple of good deals there, but have heard mixed things about buying from them.

The only time I ever did in the past was when I preordered Streets of Fire, and that went fine... but in the current state of things, is it worth it, or should I stick with other retailers?

Who doesn't? I wish it was popular enough for an official release.

If you don't mind waiting until you're almost collecting social security to get your movies, by all means, order directly from Shout.

Generally they're fine to order from. If you order something newer you should be fine, if what you want is older and/or was in the last sale then you may be waiting a while.

Ah, thanks. That makes sense.

I am looking at older releases, but I felt they looked like a trap. They had a few titles available that are out-of-stock everywhere else, and I felt like there had to be a catch to it.

They sent it to me in the bubble bag and I’m in the UK! Absolute joke. Was very badly damaged.

How come certain SF titles don't get blu reviews? I'm curious about Shatter, the Hammer Mummy films they did, etc

So a better chance of getting release not working with Lionsgate?

At this point if a title is with Lionsgate it is essentially not something which can be licensed. So any titles that leave their grip increase in odds that a future release could happen. That increase in odds may be very small, but still better than if Lionsgate had control.

People are speculating in the Monster Squad thread that Arrow may have the UK license but time will tell who, if anyone, releases the film next. It's already had two US releases which don't help it's odds of a re-release anytime soon.

I just had a second title from one of my OOP sale orders canceled due to according to the e-mail message SF sent me "an inventory error at our shipping depot".

On average, out of, say, ten orders that I have placed directly at their website, I've had two of those orders actually arrive quickly. (This is not even counting orders placed during the Covid-19 pandemic.)

Many, many times, I have placed orders for titles which appeared to be in stock on the site, when I ordered them, only to find out that they were actually back-ordered-- and then, I've ended up waiting a good while for those discs to finally be shipped and delivered. I have repeatedly asked their customer service reps to please pass along the request to have a feature added to their website to let customers know which titles are truly, actually, in stock, and which ones are back-ordered. For whatever reason, after years of asking, that feature is still not on their website. I would not encourage anyone to order directly from them, unless there is literally nowhere else that you can buy the title(s) that you want.

Thank you! That is an excellent reason to avoid this. Knowing that they don't have a listing for back-ordered titles tells me plenty!

Better in the long run to go by ebay and spend a little extra I suppose (since the recent MGM titles going OOP, people have been buying up older SF titles from other sites... seems like ebay is the best bet to get anything as of late!)
