No surprise in the set being the Amityville films, but I am glad to see part 2 being released on BD.

I'd rather they release Amityville 2/3 as a double feature, since the first is already on blu. That way, the cost wouldn't be as high, and I wouldn't have to double dip on such a crappy movie.

I know this is a SF thread, but I thought this was too cool to not mention...

In tonight's episode of The Walking Dead, they had a walker that gave homage to the Plaid-shirt zombie in Dawn of the Dead.

Amityville, that's great! I have good childhood memories of the first one, but I have never seen part 2 or 3. I hope they do release part 3 in 3D, too.

Meh. Amityville set. I've only seen the first one and thought it was a bit of a clunker. Maybe.

I can't get excited over an Amityville set. Maybe if it included all of the films in the series (there were about 6 or 7 of them) but the first one is the only one I really like and I already have it on Blu. MGM put together a good set that included a couple of good docs, even if they just focused on the first film. I don't like the sequels enough to want to see anything on them. But it's good news for those who want it.

this is what cliff means when he says the negative feedback is making them not want to preannounce titles.

people beg for announcements, then complain when theyre not exactly what they wanted.

not pointing out anyone specifically, but grow up.

i get having and expressing an opinion, but not to the point it becomes whining,

and i for one am stoked, and if you arent well im sure they have a ton wore you'll actually be interested in... so dont spoil it for the ones who care...

That's why I wrote "good news for those who want it" at the end -my post wasn't meant as a complaint. But what's the point of having a forum if people can't express their feelings, positive or negative? I'm happy for those who want an Amityville box set, I'm just saying I will pass on it. Shout is still getting A LOT of money this year.

I 100% agree with this. They have announced titles that even though Im not particularly into, Im happy for fans that are getting what they want. What goes around comes around, meaning some people get titles that want one time, others could get something of interest the next time. I love the announcements personally speaking

I highly doubt they'd release both a box set and a 2/3 double-feature, when the first film is already available on BD. They'd lose a lot of box set sales that way.

there are always going to be some negative nancys. cliff and the rest of the scream people shouldnt even listen to it. i love thier label and since i dont own any amity on blu i will almost definitly be buying this. even in the past when they have made announcements that havent blown my socks off i eventually come around and order because when it comes down to it its not every day that good classic horror gets released on blu. with somthing like this i will buy it and support scream for a couple reasons. 1 i like the amity movies and 2 becasue supporting then will led to some of the titles i really desire being released.

I'm happy for the fans who are into an AMITYVILLE set, but unless it has 3 in 3D (which I'm going to wager it won't), then I'm going to pass. The first movie is okay but the series goes downhill fast for me at least. Still, I hope it does well for them so they can give me something I WILL buy

On the Scream people being affected by message board posts -- I'm sure they're more professional than to get upset by what people might write online. At the same time, they are smart to gauge interest because these are also the people who will be buying, or not buying their releases. They probably have a slim margin for success on some of these titles so it likely gives them some indication of whether or not a title is going to sell. An overwhelming amount of disinterested posts on different sites will probably tell them they're not going to have a bestseller on their hands -- who knows. I just don't think people should be overly concerned about "offending" them, I'm sure they're used to reading all kinds of good and bad praise by this point.

Default A response from Cliff on the Phantasm II review?

Since I see 'Cliff' here with various one liner comments from time to time, I was hoping that he would take a moment to respond to the pretty negative review given by this site on the Phantasm II release.

While it's clear the reviewer is not a fan of the film itself, I would like to know what Cliff has to say in response to the complaints of telecine wobble and digital enhancement to the video, as well as other technical aspects of the review that are unsettling to some fans of Scream Factory's releases.

I'm sure that's true. At least I hope it's true.

I mean, I've bought/will be buying virtually every title they've released/announced so far.

But I'll probably pass on Amityville. The original was no masterpiece, and they get worse from there. And not in a particularly fun way.

Having said that, I've always thought part 2 had something going for it. It's a rather unpleasant film, but at least it tries to do something different, and it certainly doesn't go out of its way to make things easy for the audience.

I do remember seeing The Evil Escapes on TV when it first aired. I loved it at the time, but I probably wasn't even ten years old.

I couldn't agree more. There are some titles Scream has put out that I don't think would be for me but I realize that others like them which makes me happy they are getting released. We should just appreciate that there is a company out there that cares about what the fans want.

Ive not seen anyone whining about the Amityvlle Collection(if there is one) on this thread just some posters who for them its not a release they would be interested in.nothing at all wrong with that.were all just people with similar interests telling each other what we think.I fail to see how its whining saying your not interested in a paticular title.if we were all in the pub chatting we would'nt consider it such.As long as theres no anger, name calling or whatever its all good.Theres some really great well versed horror fans on this thread with different tastes.Im really exited for a possible Amityville set but i don't mind if someone says there not.

I see what, 2 dissenting opinions? We didn't talk sh*t, just said we were less enthused about this because of our opinions on the films.

Even when I don't love every title, I appreciate the work the company is doing, but it doesn't mean I can't state my opinion on titles and their merit.
