Man, I wish I bought that tin set 7 years ago so that I could be really peeved about this release.

Yep, my current boxset is the DVD release 'From Crystal Lake to Manhattan'.

Every time a blu-ray set was released, it just didn't feel complete to me and wasn't worth the purchase. Even the cardboard sleeves and metal tins were prone to damage. It may have taken several years, but the day has finally come that I have been patiently waiting for!!

I have that 1-8 collection that came out like a year and a half or so ago, which was my first upgrade to these (I had single discs of the others on DVD). And that was a cheap investment.

Yeah, I've never owned the tin set and wasn't satisfied with only owning eight out of the twelve films in one set. I'm more than excited for this release.

I was on about the same set that came out in 2004, 16 years ago!!!

Before that I had singles of 5-8 and a 4 pack of 1-4. I didn't really get into upgrading discs until relatively recently. I also wanted to minimize shelf space where I could.

If all we get are additional interviews, that tells me they rushed this out to market and it won't be anything worth getting excited about. If we get a comprehensive collection with new scans for all the films and an uncut edition of JGTH then a double dip will be in order for me. BTW, I really enjoyed the 2009 Friday remake.

Really happy about the F13 set. I'll be buying that for sure.

Little sad that we didn't hear anything about the Dead Zone. I guess it's possible that Scream may not even have it which is why it's coming via the 5 film set. If they do have it, they may have to wait awhile after the the 5 film set comes out or something. Oh well, at least it's coming out on Blu-ray and it looks to have its own disc.

Don't know about new scans, but JGTH will be uncut for sure.

While I'm very happy about the F13 set, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't underwhelmed by the other October releases, made up of 2 titles already released by Scream and one already on Blu-ray. However, it's probably fair to say that Scream will be putting a lot of effort into the F13 set, and realize people won't be able to afford everything that month on top of that, so I suspect releasing these alongside the set was probably strategic thinking. Hopefully they'll have more new-to-Blu stuff on tap for November onwards.

guess I should have remembered the old saying about "assuming" since the announcement is not official yet. My post was never intended to trigger anyone.. I was just curious what reasons people have for double dipping if there's no improvement in picture quality (which maybe there is, but if not...)

eh...nothing for me. Man I was really hoping for something like you know not released yet. I didn't feel the need to buy the 13th set the first time and don't now despite the hype. I have what I need on those. Good for collector's I guess.

Hoping for actual surprises and less double dips next time around. Though I realize the days of surprises are numbered at his point because of so many things already released and companies taking less risks on titles.
